That data comes from an unidentified source, most likely some fan boy. There is no information about Palm sales in Ireland. Also for your information, Palm is estimated to have sold over 1 million Palm Pre phones at Sprint (and note that Sprint is quite small in comparison to Verizon). And the Sprint sales number does not include (for the most part) sales of the Palm Pixi smart phone which is quite affordable - and should sell quite well.
Verizon has already ordered 400,000 Palm Pre and Palm Pixi smart phones for the January 25, 2010 launch. These wireless companies replenish their inventories constantly as stock is depleted.

Too little too late I'm afraid. I was a Palm user/fan for many years but recently decided to go Droid rather than wait for the Pre to come to VZW. Palm is destined to be the first victim of Android success, and Windows Mobile will be second. The market in two years will be all iPhone, Droid, and Crackberry.

Palm may not make it, but I think WinMo will die first actually. I can't really think of any new WinMo phones that have just come out that are at all impressive. Palm phones are actually fun to use and are expanding their capabilities. WinMo is just decaying.

No Desktop Sync. No Expansion Slot. No Landscape Keyboard. No battery life. Oh yeah, an extra $240 bucks for Verizon's GPS!
It only works in a vacuum, no communication with any of my computers. An expensive toy for high-profile casual use but no application for business.

@travisonfire There are desktop sync solutions in the app catalog (though they're a bit pricey). Battery life also isn't bad: I can go a day with moderate to heavy use without a problem.

The battery life is not up to snuff. If you drive around for an hour with the gps program on, it will use up about 40% of the battery life.

Most people that use GPS in their cars probably have it plugged into a car charger.

that doesnt make it any good as battery has always been a issue with palm pres. most cellphones last longer than that on heavy use.
also Verizon charging Wi-Fi Hotspot for $40 monthly.
@Oghowie As an in-love Pre user, the battery life is terrible. Sure, when I'm in my car I plug it into the charger. But I shouldn't have to. I shouldn't have to plug it in my car charger 30 mins after I unplug it for the night, just to top it off for the day. It's ridiculous.

I thought it was par for the course with these multitasking OSes. Sis does the same with her Nexus One. Charges it at least once during the day and again before bed.

The Pre's battery life has already been improved significantly (with the webOS 1.3.5 update in December 2009), I can now browse the Internet intensively and continuously for over 5 hours and still have hours more of use before charging the phone. Or listen to hours of music and do other things and still go for 24 hours before charging, etc.

Palm Pre's battery life hasn't improved with that update either. When you off the charger for 10 min, you are down to 91% again with no usage.

I have a Palm Pre... It's the greatest invention ever. You can't beat elite multitasking and a vertically sliding keyboard. Pre Plus will be boss with WebOS 1.4 giving us Flash 10.1 in the web brower and video editing! Can't wait until February
@Ecoteric I like a vertical sliding keyboard too. I haven't played with a Pre, but on my old samsung i730 it had a similar keyboard and I always liked how it was so easy to use, no having to re-orientate the phone or wait for a screen to rotate, it's just flick and type.

thats all good but can the old processor in the plus really keep up. Ive heard that the cards are laggy after you open a couple is that true.
by the way the demo of flash running on palm did look really crazy
@BrownSound there a video out there with the pre plus handling 50 cards pretty easily. Check out precentral.net and I think they posted it here too...
Perhaps this is a dumb comment, but, um, that's a fake Pixi. (One of those dummies that Best Buy so stupidly uses for display models.)

The price points of the Pixi and iPhone make them beyond comparison.
What's the over/under for when Best Buy will start slashing prices on these things to move out old inventory. 3 months?

Hmmm...I wonder who the wholesaler is for the Verizon devices? Wouldn't that be funny if it were Verizon just like it was Sprint for the Sprint ones! Then Palm could tout their "sell-through" numbers without actually selling-through like we all think sell-through means...again.
FYI, only 500 stores are getting the Pixi, but every one of them will carry the Pre.
Also what is "no ecosystem" even supposed to mean? If you're trying to troll phones, come up with a little bit of a better complaint.

Iphone has a 140,000 apps but 50,000 of them are fart apps and burp apps. The iphone will not be getting flash at all. Sp stop talkin trash about flash like the iphone has it. Web OS is way better.
IPhone doesnt have :
1. A flash for the camera
2. Cant use anything else for syncing Music or Pictures
3. Cant stream live anything without and app.
4 Will not be getting Flash Player anytime in the near future.
5. cant be insured via AT&T or Apple. u lose or break it u come out your pocket.
6. Cant multitask
7. No wireless charging
8. No mini USB port
9. only 248 MB RAM vs 512 MB ram for Pre.
10. Glass is scratch proof but shatters is you drop it.
11. no real universal search
12. real keyboard thats great.
13. a removable battery
12.Apple charges 100 bucks to replace battery when it goes bad. plus and extra 30 bucks for a loaner.
