JooJoo ship date pushed to March 25 due to manufacturing issues

FUSION GARAGE TO SHIP JOOJOO INTERNET TABLET ON MARCH 25
SINGAPORE -- February 26, 2010 -- Earlier this month, Fusion Garage's JooJoo Internet tablet went into full production with an anticipated on-time delivery to consumers at the end of February. Last week, the company became aware of a manufacturing issue involving JooJoo's industry-first 12.1 inch capacitive touch screen which Fusion Garage was quickly able to diagnose and rectify. The company now forecasts the JooJoo will be sent to consumers on March 25.
The manufacturing issue centers on fine tuning the touch sensitivity of the capacitive screen. Fusion Garage will be providing all pre-order customers with a free JooJoo accessory to compensate for the delay in the delivery of their JooJoo.
Fusion Garage's recent agreement with CSL, its manufacturing partner, has eliminated nearly all of the manufacturing costs associated with JooJoo. The company has no other barriers in the way of product delivery in the new timeframe.
The company apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the delay.

Pushing it close to the apple tablet ship date!
@jonschu i wonder why... these are just copies of the apples ipad! im kind of starting to think that maybe this tablet has overdone itself with the hardcore back holder and all. Maybe im wrong, correct me if i am but i think that apple really has a better table than this joo joo because it has the most experience in the business and it has more people behind it. But no thanks to microsoft. Im all for the apple but im not for this joo joo looks like a reminisce of a tablet i have seen on here weeks ago I think they may have even got the design off the internet but those are just my ponderings. Im realy upset about the joojoo having such minor defects like low gb and high cost im waiting to hear more about the changes that wioo be incorporated to the joo joo after the release date and everyone hacks and finds the bugs. i dont assume the joojoo baby manx to even be as good as palms tablet.
@emopoops
1)I remember JooJoo being announced before the iPad, so it's the iPad that's the copy.
2) "But no thanks to Microsoft" Exactly why on earth should apple ever thank Microsoft for their own R&D?
3) All tablets will pretty much look the same. What will differentiate them are stuff like battery time, cpu/gpu speed(+ optimization of OS), Internet, media and gaming.
I don't see windows 7 + atom doing well in this space. It's the wrong OS and wrong chip for the form factor. Microsoft really need to make an arm version of windows 7 or make damn sure that their new phone OS can scale to an 10 inch tablet.
Joojoo, also known as the DNF Pad...
@LeJay
1) What? I don't think you have any idea what you're on about. The Ipad was in development before this company even existed. This product is vaporware. The Ipad is out in 4 weeks. That's the facts
@LeJay
"I don't see windows 7 + atom doing well in this space."
I'd disagree, I think a 10"- 12" Windows 7 + Atom (or CULV) powered device would be a real hit with consumers. You get a full featured browser, expanability, MS office etc. The touch features on Windows 7 are great, combined with build in Surface apps and an eReader it would put the iPad to shame.
@LeJay Oh yes, I forgot.. it doesn't matter what product went into designing first, it matters who has their press release first! Not to mention apple had functional products to show to the public, not one demo unit which only the CEO of the company touched and a much less then stellar demonstration.. Maybe apple should have started taking pre-orders 3 years ago when they started work on the project?
@LeJay: Hahhaha! Remember the JuJu was announced before the iPad. JuJu & YouYou have been down-ranked into oblivion!
@jonschu
No one is going to remember the Chewbacca tablet by April.
Great timing guys...

@jonschu
Most definitely, they're trying to time it with the iPad only they're not sure whether to release the JooJoo just before or just after the iPad goes on sale. If they release the JooJoo slightly before the iPad it will be completely lost in the iPad fanfare. If they release the JooJoo right after the iPad, it will still be lost in the iPad fanfare. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. The iPad is going to be a runaway hit and the JooJoo will be an unheard of also-ran. The tech geeks will be completely in love with the JooJoo and it's extra features and the mainstream consumers will be buying iPads. How sweet it is for Apple.
@MosesusedaniPad I don't think it matters too much. The people buying JooJoo will want something specifically NOT iPad in general.
The REAL issue is if their custom-rolled Linux distro will be USEFUL enough. This is the reason iPad took so long... the software and media deals were the hard part. I don't see JooJoo being in for the long haul because they are running an OS meant for hacking and don't seem to have any media deals... and the mega corps are quickly locking down all types of electronic media and JooJoo is far to small...
@Jimbob
No. It would run hot, be laggy and take forever to boot up. The ipad would kill win 7 tablets from a usability and ergonomics perspective. Fact is, Mac OS X is pretty similar to Win 7. Apple could have used OS X for a tablet as well. It would have had the same problems.
@jonschu "March 25 because of a manufacturing issue with the tablet's 12.1-inch capacitive screen" Uh-oh, anyway hopefully this one won't end to be just your ordinary joe tablet, to think that its capabilities is at par with the high-roller tablet today. Glimpse: http://bit.ly/joojoo-on-the-view
If they can get that browser based OS to work properly or release an update to Chrome OS then I think this thing looks much more promising than an iPad especially now it's Arrington free.
@fourthletter
Are you serious? Don't you see the pattern here? This thing is never gonna be released
@pukerocket yea, because things NEVER get delayed..
@n0ne
Yeah. I said 'pattern'.
Guess it's not so obvious to the gullible.
Maybe in a while I'll pick up a used one if I can afford it... This seems so cool, but I don't have $500 bucks to drop on it.
This thing is going to fail.
@Luffy I couldn't agree more. You can tell from the demo video that is was made in a Garage.
@aria
Hmmm...didn't a certain Fruit company start making products in a garage too?
Besides, JooJoo sounds -- like a fruit.
@Luffy Miserably at that!
@Luffy i agree with you but sinse it really hasnt been released yet im waiting to see which company will sue tem
@aria
Yeah, and nothing good ever came out of an garage...
Oh, wait, maybe I should Google that - just to make sure.
@aria
More proof not to buy gadgets from companies that you've never heard of, are being sued, and use unlicensed images from Avatar as the demo images.
Ahh, can I hold your joojoo?
The only reason I would even consider this is because I could watch Hulu on it. Any tablet that does not have Hulu, will be a no-sale for me.
@Ryan Hemler Do you try to skip the comercials on Hulu too. It never works but I still try most of the time.
@Ryan Hemler
Flash + PDF here.
@Edobe
I tried before, but was unsuccessful. I do manage to skip commercials(sometimes) when rewinding, but that is not too often.
@Ryan Hemler
you might want to see this: http://mac.blorge.com/2010/01/30/hulu-chief-hints-at-hulu-for-ipad-iphone/
@dieselstation Wow, an Apple fanboy with a blog claiming bashing flash and claming that Hulu is moving to html5. Thanks so much for that link.... /s
Nothing to see there folks. Move along.
Looks like a fun table top gadget for the house, on my counter... thats it. 4GB same price as iPad 16GB? I think she might crash and burn, or at least the first gen. Needs to get android style OS and a bigger SSD
@rhysmoe
pretty sure it has a USB... try plugging in a 500gb hard drive...:-)
@masta vaan haha, little velcro, stick it on the back, this has potential.
It's a nice sweet lie guys problem is not with capacitive screen. Problem is Software is very very buggy and not at all usable so they are buying time.
@abimanyu Have you tried one? Pics or didn't happen.
@Johanu no i did't but as i see the demos and there arch i am dam sure software will be very very buggy
I can't wait for the price to drop then I'll definitely get one for couch surfing.
My prediction: the company will changes it name to Fusion Garbage with the failure of the JooJoo tablet.
Down rating Inc. LMAO
Are these going to sold in Best Buy and will they have commercials on TV?
If not... I can't see them selling many...
$500 for last gen craplistic Atom is a hard sell... iPad or not
.75" thickness and 2.4lbs is kind of chunky for an ARM slate.
that's bad joojoo!
@One Love
you beat me to it!
Not seen or heard of this thing before. What does this have or not have in comparison with an iPad?
@macmann It will have flash, so it is ahead in that respect...
@TMoney2007
Okay, so apart from annoying flash adverts, what will it have?
@macmann
it can has multitasking
n tons of other stuffs that the ipad doesnt. check the website.
@dark star
What's the point of it having multitasking if the apps being multitasked are crap?
