Microsoft throws a helping of vivacious onto Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 line
What good is a BlueTrack mouse in only pink and gray? Not nearly as good as one splashed in every pastel you can think of, and especially not as good as a new trio of varied ones. Microsoft's Wireless Mobile Mose 3500 family -- announced earlier this year as some of the most portable BlueTrack mice this planet has ever seen -- just gained three new vivid members, and each of 'em are on sale now at Best Buy for a penny under $30. If we had to guess, we'd say these are perfect for the KIN demographic. Hey, stereotypes don't just form from thin air, you know...

like anyone will buy this most teenagers I know have 2 pound mice which came with their computers, just aiming a product at people who have better things to do with their money.
@dipesh2301 Shoot, I had an MX Revolution coming into High School. Still works like a beaut.
I recently got Logitech's new Anywhere MX for my college laptop.
Both were worth the money. No need to skimp on peripherals, those are the first things you interact with. Quality peripherals enhance the computing experience and last well past the lifetime of your computer.
@dipesh2301 I think these designs could do well with the Starbucks poser crowd
@ImSpartacus
Of course, I have a MX revolution now just sitting gathering dust :( replaced by my razer copperhead, I just wouldn’t think people who aren’t really tech minded would bother with expensive peripherals because they just don’t know what they are missing and can’t really care less... who knows could be different down in the US.
@ChrisSsk
Oh, they're Mac-compatible I take it?
@Darren Murph
"Mose"?
Mouse... Mouse...
Ahhhhh! My eyes!! They burn..
@SolidSnake
They burn everyones eyes god what were they thinking :|
@SolidSnake I think these mice look B.A.
!
@dipesh2301 The green one is nice!
@theSixFive
actually, i second that, green one looks nice
but its just looks a bit weird XD
Do I see a typo?
@Grubasaurus Rex I see what you're saying. The title of the article should be "Microsoft Throws a Helping of Vivacious onto Wireless Mobile Mose 3500 Line"
I like the idea of small for a portable mouse, but for a main mouse why aren't the more popular and comfortable form factors available? Is MS charging an arm and a leg or just not licensing the blue at all? :'(
Looks kinda gay
@adriannn It's clearly a slow news day in the tech world :/
Ha. I just got that mouse model yesterday. In the gray/black version. It was $32.99 after tax.
Would be great if BlueTrack mice were also BlueTooth huh. I'd definatrly have gotten a desktop size if it was.
Yes i know bluetrack has nothing to do with bluetooth. And yas these use 2.4 GHz wireless and not bluetooth but don't you think with the bluetrack theme that they should at least have Bluetooth models? It just sounds right to have a bluetrack mouse with Bluetooth.
@SDreamer Yeah, it's over IR. The IR module doesn't slot the underside of the mouse either. It's completely seperate. But it works well and the module is pretty subtle.
Uhm, no.
Razer Orocchi please.
That mouse is _actually_ bluetooth too, not like these, lol.
What's the point of calling something "BlueTrack" and it being a mobile product that DOESN'T have bluetooth??
@DoctarPeppar
Uhhh...idiot. If you had spent 2 minutes in Google you'd realize Blue Track is their proprietary laser system that can track on any surface regardless of the opacity and reflective nature.
Are you that dense?
@Prevacator
I know what "BlueTrack" is -- it's a crock of shit.
Show me any mouse that is better than the Razer mamba (or if you want mobile, the Razer Orrochi). BlueTrack is nothing but marketing nonsense.
@DoctarPeppar
The Mamba is made to have great tracking on limited surfaces. BlueTrack is meant to have good tracking on any surface. Two different purposes. Not everyone needs a gaming mouse...and I'd rather be caught with one of these designs over the Mamba.
@insky
Also, I forgot to add that you're comparing a $130 mouse to a $30 mouse...yet the $30 mouse will work on more surfaces than the $130 mouse.
@insky
I got the mamba for 70$ on sale at best buy...it works fine on any surface..including my bed sheets (don't ask :P) -- the bluetrack thing is a marketing gimick. I don't have any issues with the mabma...and it's not just a gaming mouse, in fact I don't even use it for gaming, I use it for photoshop mostly -- the accuracy and sensor caliber is unmatched imho.
@DoctarPeppar My Explorer Mini Bluetrack mouse is the best mouse I've ever owned. Works perfectly for everything I need it to do, on any surface.
@DoctarPeppar
Because Bluetooth peripherals are notorious for loosing their bindings and being less reliable than their 2.4 GHz counterparts. Why do you think that PC manufacturers stopped using it with their wireless all-in-one setups? (Exception being Apple, but they control all aspects of the hardware so it should work flawlessly)
You can use bluetooth peripherals if you want to, but I GUARANTEE you will have issues with them.
@PBB
If you have issues like that, I suggest switching to the BlueSoleil bluetooth stack by IVT. It's not free (it's actually one of the few softwares that I have not pirated and actually paid for) -- but it's SO worth it. It blows the microsoft \ toshiba \ every other bt stack in existance out of the water, plus it runs on linux as well -- and there's lifetime free updates, which get released all the time...every 3-4 weeks they seem to have a new version with new features and more phone support. But yeah, my dell laptop switched with the toshiba BT stack, and it was god awful...the problems you talk about though are due to crappy BT stacks being used, because ever since I switched to BlueSoleil, I've had no problems whatsoever.
@PBB

@DoctarPeppar
It's not really a crock of shit, put that mouse of yours on a mirror, or a clear glass surface (like how some desks are) and watch how it doesn't work.
The Blue Track laser still works. Razer is ricer shit.
Is this Microsoft trying to be "hip"?
@EggoEspada
Yeah, just like the sexting comercial with the Kin...they don't do a very good job at it.
Heh, "vivid member"
What's a mobile mose?
I just bought a Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 with the Blue Track lasers. I love it already, seriously very comfortable and the laser really tracks on any surface, even a completely transparent glass surface like my desk. Only cost me like 30 bucks too with tax tacked on. I'd recommend it to anyone.
@Prevacator
+1 to this. Microsoft makes some truly amazing mice.
Now go make some cats, MS!
The green one looks like Microsoft's colorful barcode
The green one looks good but if there is no Bluetooth, no buy from me.
all of these splashes .. what a waste. the mouse itself needs a redesign perhaps something that isnt shaped like a mouse but a glove or a mouse shaped touch ball that makes use of all of your 5 fingers for better accuracy. Come on engineers! You're ignoring this part of the PC!
These should sell well...
I feel so out of date and boring with my Logitech MX400
*sigh*
I like it. It adds a cool splash of color to an otherwise monochromatic world of computing, let alone peripherals.
wow they are so cool !
Where's the dalmatian pattern?
