Samsung teases next Android announce, Galaxy S bound for T-Mobile next month?
It's no secret that Samsung wants to spread its high-end Galaxy S far and wide, but the exact details of its US attack have been a mystery thus far. TmoNews is reporting a "trusted source" as saying that the phone is pegged for a launch on T-Mobile on July 21, which matches up with some chatter we've been hearing as well. Though T-Mobile's been supporting Android as aggressively as any carrier in the world, the company lacks a hero device -- something akin to the Droid Incredible or EVO 4G -- so it would stand to reason that Samsung's best Android gear to date would be a good fit over there. Nothing wrong with a Super AMOLED display in a sub-10mm shell, now, is there? In the meantime, we've been invited to an event on June 29 to see "the next generation in Android smartphones" from Sammy, so we're hoping for some more details then -- and naturally, we'll be on hand.

By November of this year, there will be at least 2 Android smartphones that make the iPhone 4 look outdated.
@Cwill127
There's already been Android phones that make the iPhone outdated. The Evo 4G easily beats the pants off of it.
Oh competition, how I love thee
@nelagster
That's why he said 2.
LOL
@Cwill127
outdate or not, they will be enough iphone royal fan out there buying the new iphone, main thing is the itunes and apps that really make people hard to move away from iphone consider how much they spend in those.
@Cwill127
T-mobile should make samsung add led flash in that phone and 2.2 floyo update to make instant iphone killer.
@Cwill127 Nothing beats the iPhone 4 everyone is just playing catch up.
@Cwill127
Well, they will for sure out plastic them. :)
@nelagster
Android Holy Grail?
@nelagster
EVE 4G? It's too big. Galaxy S is an error. Samsung is cheating us with Pentile AMOLED.
@techlord
move away from? The fact that I can get whatever media I need or want from one place is a big selling point for me.
I guess if you hate itunes, then you'll probably hate the iPhone (even if secretly you want to own it...it's okay, admit it ) ;)

I don't really understand this. As much as I hate to defend Apple, the new iPhone looks as good as anything out on the market today. I don't see it looking outdated for some time especially with the new form factor. Seems like a lot of people just want to hate on Apple because all the cool kids are doing it.
Oh, so this is what Oblivion looks like.
@techlord
dude its not always about the money you invest in that stuff or getting the "best" phone (which is virtually not possible, since the moment you buy your desired phone it becomes already outdated by another one appearing the day after)...what most people have is called brand loyalty because they are just happy with the device, its functionality and the fulfilled expectations. You can also ask, why do people often buy the same brand of car? Why do they exchange their previous models with the new one but not change the brand? again, because they like it...
I know for a fanboy who's not cheering for the apple corporation this thought might distant but it's just this simple...we (average consumers) buy stuff because we like them and not because we want to have the "best ones".
by the way I'm not an apple phone user neither, i still love my moto droid and maybe i'll upgrade to moto droid2 when it appears..(telling to prove my point)
@nelagster Android phones with a s? Name me 3 or more? Srry you fail!
@Frogboy
exactly like you said it "looks" good. all iphone has is "looks" but the hardware inside is NOT good
@techlord
lol, "loyalty" ? Oo
Do we owe something to Apple now ??
omfg
Looks like T-Mobile is getting one hell of a phone.
@Taylor
Much to my chagrin. I was praying that AT&T would get this sooner rather than later. Guess I'm not surprised, though. Glad to see T-Mo get some Android love.
@Taylor Yes, but too little too late for me. I left T-Mo for the Evo last week after six years with Magenta. And I am immediately (within 6 months) a member of Sprint Premier and able to upgrade my phone every year. I'm really happy with my decision!
@Taylor And it looks like Engadget is actually going to cover it, they haven't given this phone enough love.
@Taylor
see ya at&t. i've been with you since 1998 but it looks like i'm going to t-mobile. have fun with your iphone though.
Looking forward, T-mobile need to keep up.
@techlord yeah i was really getting tired of my g1, though i hate touch only phones i think 4" should be enough for my fat fingers. i was looking into getting a dell streak but this phone supports dvix and mkv so it seems better to me.
Tight...
Dammit AT&T if I was in my dads plan I would leave this bullshit all the good phones are going elsewhere (android)
iphone 4 v2 in november 2010
@galbingito
lmao, so true. dualcore a4 iphone plz
@ComeShot for what??
Nice. Really hoping this is true!
the thing is ill be getting an iphone 4 because all good android phones are not in canada htc is never in canada but some old windows crap. i could only hope samsung comes out with it in canada. also i dont hate the iphone i love it but i would like to look at good alternatives to the iphone so i can get the best phone out... No evo no htc hd2 nothing is in canada
@aw2011 Galaxy S is coming to Canada. Rumour is it's coming out with Bell. I live where the Moose roam free too, but either way, I'm going to get it even if I have to drive down to Buffalo. I'm excited ^.^
@Peasoupman thats great that canada will get a good phone thats not rim or the iphone. i hope the rumour is true.
I thought the Galaxy S was going to hit multiple/all carriers (including Verizon)???
And where is the Galaxy Pro - the one with the keyboard? News/rumors about that one have completely stopped showing up. :(
@Hazdaz
From what the amount of rumors piling up, it is. Including Verizon. When is the better question.
@Hazdaz
Geez, do the manufacturers just not look at any sort of analysis on partnerships? No new phones launched exclusively w/ t-mob have ever been strong market drivers.
FINALLY, THANK GOD.
I have to admit, I was inching closer to Sprint and the EVO, but I really am comfortable with T-Mobile and was not wanting to jump ship.
Come on June 29th, make papa proud!
@shizbgby
Same here, and consistent connections, HSPA+ 7.2 roll out with a Galaxy S and Froyo sounds tasty... a darkhorse combo for t-mobile users that Droid, Evo, iPhone users forget...
Of course, that's if T-mobile rolls this phone (or the keyboard version) out.
@recharged95 Yes, which is why I am hanging in there.
I was reading the related posts and the only thing that has me worried is the 3G bands that were posted....none being T-Mobile (Or did I read wrong?)
I guess we can wait until the 29th to find out.
@shizbgby you read it wrong, the spec list has 1900 and 2100 as supported 3g frequencies which is tmobile's aws spectrum.
@shizbgby - I just hope June 28th does not come around and Samsun/Tmo say, coming by holidays 2010! I will be so defeated.
Ouch.
Sorry EVO 4G buyers.
You have just been obsoleted. :)
I mea, this is next gen Android and all!
So other than Att all the major carriers are rocking android on their flagship phones. Webos and WP7 have an uphill battle waiting for them,
@ACMartin
True but don't underestimate the power of Microsoft development tools.
@Frogboy
i can hear their planning meetings now:
DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS...
Isn't Samsung partnering with Yahoo! though?
@atdrvn no it was Nokia
This better land on at least AT&T. I'm about ready to pull my hair out waiting for a better resolution screen.
im still on T-mobile but im looking to go to sprint (not to mention my plan will be cheaper on sprint)
the thing i dont really like about this phone is the fact that its by samsung. we all know their history with updates
also the lack of flash and kinda lame looking ui
so sprint and Evo or Galaxy and stay on T-Mob (ive been on since 2000)
@LockesKidney I say Sprint and Evo. I made the move from T-Mobile after six years myself for the Evo. I am really happy with my phone, my plan and my service. Even with the Galaxy S T-Mobile is still behind. Also you are only stuck with your phone for a year on Sprint (Sprint Premier) which is awesome!
Could they Bring the Galaxy S Pro to T-Mo too please (the one with the qwerty keyboard). That would be a perfect replacement for my G1.
Oh, and with Froyo of course :)
iphone4 who?
coming from a N1... galaxy S is my next phone!!!
