Archos 13 laptop arrives in France
Archos -- primarily known for being heavy into the PMP game -- has just outed an updated line of laptops in France. Here we have the previously spotted Archos 13, and while we don't have a full rundown of specifications, we know that it's a 13.3-incher with an unnamed Intel Atom D510 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160GB hard drive, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, and a 6-cell battery. It comes with Windows 7 Home Starter edition, and although we haven't heard anything about releases outside of France or international pricing, we do know that this puppy goes for €399.98 (around $485).

Archos, you're trying too hard. Where's my archos phone, you've been blabbering about?
@Paul Elmy
They are trying hard. Why is that a bad thing?
@Paul Elmy - no operator picked it up, so they canceled it.
That's what I heard a while ago, anyway...

I have tried some Archos device and so far I didn't even like them. Their build quality is getting worst. They haven't offer anything new or interesting. Cowon in the other hand has try to keep on pushing their limits. Stick with your audio device and not the netbook business.
@Techie
Agreed...Archos have gone way down in quality over the years..
@DoctarPeppar I agree, now they have to start to make some attractive devices with outstanding specs.
@Techie
Their biggest strength seems to be delivering PMP devices with more storage than anyone else and very good format support. Yet another netbook is not terribly interesting. It's not even a hybrid tablet or anything.
Beef up the Archos 9 with loads of storage. Update the Archos 5 so that it can play any h264 file you can come up with.
Improve the reliability of your stuff.
Archos, you've come a long way! I remember buying a Gmini in lieu of an iPod.
Got rid of the Gmini, bought an iPod.
@JoeJoeJoeJoeJoe
I once considered the Gmini too, but AFAIR it didn't have a replaceable battery, so I ended up getting a Pocket PC instead. Coupled with TCPMP and Conduits' Pocket Player it was the best pmp (+ so much more) I've ever had and perhaps sadly, it still is.
@JoeJoeJoeJoeJoe i liked my archos better than any ipod until it died. way better audio, no itunes and great price were the killing features for me.
now i've got a cowon s9 with even better sound. but to each his own.
It looks like the Macbook Air.
@docpark, you might need glasses.
Why does the top half look like cheap plastic?
@Templarian
Its probably 1/4 the price.
oh wait, it is.
notebooks... devices of yesterday... i assure you the sales of netbooks will fall significantly by the release of windows phone 7. simply because it will be the first proper business smart phone with physical keyboard and office integration.
Whoa... trop mince :) very very nice. I'd like to see what a matt black version looks like. That would look stellar.
suck comments this.
I still have my Gmini 400. Best sounding player ever. Nothing can compare to it's sturdiness and audio quality.
This netbook actually doesn't look too bad. Nice specs too.
great! more shit that won't work as promised.
@willowtwf what does archos promise? its a simple netbook/thin n light.
Wow, that's a sexy lil thing right there.
great laptop. I am sure I'd be happy buying codes from Archos to unlock all the features it has that I thought were included
:-P
this could actually be a nice netbook for people who need a larger screen/better resolution than the 10" siblings offer.
dualcore atom should also provide enough power for most applications and media. i wonder how battery life will be.
@fokka
Want a better netbook? Just find one of the ION/ION2 netbooks.
This offering is pretty redundant.
Home Starter ?
Its Home Premium.
I don't know why they keep offering these ultra portable/ultra thins with platter drives.
Give us a nice 40 gig SSD! >:|
But does it run Crysis?
