Nao robots get together to get down, put a ring on it (video)
We've seen evidence of the Nao robots' dancing capabilities in the past, but this gigantic group of them cutting the rug together is off-the-charts impressive. Check out the video below, plus a very special video we made just for you. Because we love you.

Domo arigato dancing roboto
@MattsZ. Sure...
@MattsZ Clearly this "dance" thinly veils their capabilities and what they are able to achieve through collective power....I've been expecting you Skynet.
@MattsZ I must admit - Engadget's version does seem a little more appropriate than 7-year old girls doing the dance at a dance competition.
I'm just sayin...
@MattsZ
I want to see them do Thriller.
@MattsZ
because your friends don't dance and if they don't dance well they're no friends of mine
OMG!
OMG!
OMG...
...jizz in my pants.
@MattsZ
Watching this saddens me because American robotics doesn't seem to be as advanced. At first I thought these were Japanese robots, but in fact, they are French. This exhibition should make us realize that there is yet another country that America has to catch up with in the field of Mechatronics. Sigh*.....All of our mechanical engineers go into the defense industry...

@JohnPheng What?! No... What concerns about robots taking over the world... Who's worried...
@naoforge
I appreciate the links but it looks like there is only one or two of them in those videos. I want to see them do this:

ROFL AT 7:25!!!!! random robot humping the air FTW!!!!!
Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
@chosenone1 -- just think of all the hours of rehearsing those poor robots had to go through to learn all that. haha
@gschier and they did it all in one take!
@ofcmad Actually if you watch carefully you can see the routers in the background go from being on a black box to being on wirestands, then back to the black box.
"Because we love you." QFT, Laura, stop trying so hard to fit in and be relevant. it's embarrassing.
Start by maybe trying to smile once this decade. You know what I'm talking about.
@Mister Warmth That was sarcasm. I do not, in fact, love you. Also, I'll smile when I'm ready.
@Laura June You love him... >_>
@Mister Warmth My, my.... Sounds like a secret love story with a sad ending! I don't like Telenovelas though.
@Laura June Well, I appreciated it. Thanks for posting this.
@Firehazel You're welcome.
@Mister Warmth Someone is inexplicably confused and angry... can we get some horse tranquilizers over here?
@Laura June stop fighting, can't you see you two are in love?
This is why I go to college.
Can I buy one of these?
#Sudo Make Me_a_sandwich
@Caullen Yea, where do I get these?
@jonbruc The scale is hard to tell from the video, but these are much larger than I expected. Still cool to see what they've done with them.
@Caullen
wikipedia english version:
Although the Nao Academics Edition is already available for universities and laboratories for research purposes, it will not be available to the general public until 2011
wikipedia german version: although the robot is still under development, it is possible to buy "individual copies" on demand directly from the manufacturer. The price is about 10.000€
@jonbruc How tall are they? Seems like about a foot to me but its hard to tell.
@jonbruc
all the robots act cute and dance and stuff, until their eyes light up in red ("stop human being").
@groinger
Only $12.35?! I think you have a typo, 100.00€ seems more reasonable. Misplaced the decimal?
@Caullen
if you can spare the moolah, you can find there here:

@Kyle Krcmaric
I believe, in Europe, a decimal point in a number is used where we would use a comma. So that would be 10,000 euros. So, based on your conversion, over 12,000 dollars.
@toddjy
Oh... I guess I'll never get one now.
[cries in corner]
@gschier About half a meter, probably a bit more...
(**** your imperial system, including miles, inches, pounds, ounces, and commas instead of periods, etc)
P.S.: And this: 1.000.000.000 being a billion, what's up with that?!
Back in my country, it takes us about exactly three more zeros to get that name...

And, on an unrelated subject:

I, for one, welcome our dancing robot overlords.
I'm sorry the Qrio was way better.
@Gasaraki
Fully Agree.
Ha they have butts.
I swear those robots were doing the Haka war dance at some stage... I guess they needed to do a war dance before they take over the world...
Haha - 7:28. Humping robot. :D
Oh my... I want one nao. (pun intended)
Okay. *hangs head in shame*
i can't honestly watch 9 mins of that
Best thing ever!!!!!
oddly creepy :s
well, they move quite well I have to admit. For robots. If I see them at the club though were having a dace off.
