Motorola Sage: AT&T's next Android phone?

We tend to go into full-on conjecture mode when we see an interesting FCC filing, but our instincts haven't let us down in the past, so allow us to throw something out on the table. A new Motorola just hit the feds with 7.2Mbps HSDPA and 2Mbps HSUPA on the 850 and 1900MHz bands, quadband EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth, AGPS, and a digital compass. In other words, this is definitely an Android set, and it could definitely work on AT&T. The Backflip's already looking plenty long in the tooth, and we wouldn't be surprised to see Moto fire its second Google-powered volley on AT&T before too long -- it's certainly been doing its duties on Verizon (and to a lesser extent, T-Mobile) after all. Any thoughts on what wild form factor this one might be?

I'm pretty sure virtually no one cares about me anymore. windows phone 7 is coming out soon, Regardless I'll be the true Lifeform to beat. But some people need an OS that is lovely, and has horrible looking chaps jealous. Thats where android and I come in, I guess

@EggoEspada Thats honestly exactly what I thought, A pretty plain/ugly phone with a smallish screen and a 528-600 mhz (second tier) processor meant for kids. BLAH I tried my co-workers htc hero and idk how people are fine with second rate smartphones.

Cool! I hope it's on par with the Captivate...if so, I'm buying. I work for a Motorola dealer, have at&t as my wireless provider and it would be nice to carry a Motorola phone.

It better not be ugly. Aside from the Droid O guess, Motorola seems to have a fetish for developing ugly, uninnovative phones. You'd think since the software is mostly developed by someone else, they'd have more time to create a kick-ass phone.

To be more civil, I ready hope this is a nice phone. I hope it comes with stock Android so it gets quick updates and has a nice processor. Of course, I wouldn't mind a physical keyboard either.

To be honest I was coming here to have furious fucking QQ because of the lack of decent Android devices in EU:
No Dell Streak, no Moto Droid X (or word of Droid 2) nothing to replace EVO :(:(

Hope this is coming with something like 4.4Inch qwerty and available in EU

They didn't publish much info on it. "Sage"? I can't even find any related other than "Sage Technology" which I know isn't the phone as it's picture is related to a 2000 year palm pilot edition.

Why oh why wont you give us info on the Dell Streak please! Its bad enough their releasing it with Android 1.6 but now the delay even more. At&T needs a better and bigger phone than just the Iphone which Ive had since release but now its time to move on since Im really disappointed in the Iphone 4! The Samsung Captivate has a nice screen but I want bigger and better! Ive got to totally own those with Droid Xs and Evos with sheer screen size!

this is the motorola motosplit. it only makes sense. it has a weird ass form factor. it slides up and out, except uses the same keys. like the alias's 2 keyboard but not flip. this phones slidey. if you don't believe me, check this link: http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/AT-T-carrier-c_14_3.html
