WRUP: Comically speaking

WRUP Comically speaking

It's the weekend, and the WoW Insider staff takes the time to reflect on the coming weekend. Some of us will do glorious battle on behalf of the Alliance or Horde... others of us will be wiping up baby spit. It's a mixed bag like that. We have shockingly few Black Ops 2 players in the house, though.

But our mutual love turned to the subject of comic books this week. We enjoyed several conversations in the press room about our favorite characters, our favorite stories, and even our favorite writers. So we posed to the staff... what's your favorite comic book character?

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'll be fiddling around with a monk. Because it seemed like the thing to do. It is impossibly hard to pick just one favorite comic book character, but I think I'll go with Barbara Gordon in her Oracle days, because she kinda kicked butt in major ways.

Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) Most likely working on reputation, some old-world quests, and maybe trying to convince my grandmother not to put a bookcase in the most overcrowded portion of her house. I expect to fail at at least one of these things. I'll have to go with Rossi on the Superman pick here; it's really hard to write a nice guy who's trying to do the right things and make him compelling, but when a writer succeeds, he's brilliant.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I'll be playing my Geth Engineer for Operation Gearhead on ME3 Multiplayer, and working on getting my Warlock those last few bars of experience to 90. Then it's time to grind August Celestial rep for the enchants and tailoring patterns, though I may wait on that until patch 5.1, when I can get the rep boost for her.

My favorite superhero is the Green Lantern, probably in as Jon Stewart. I just like the ring not only making some awesome things, but being bound primarily by willpower, and I love the whole galactic peacekeepers angle.

Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) I'll be doing dailies at the least, but I also want to get my druid leveled up so I can work on archaeology again (I only have it leveled on that one character). I want the pretty umbrella! I'm not sure I have a favorite comic book character, just favorite comics. Watchmen and Bone are probably my favorites, but no one character from
either series stands out as my favorite.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) Continuing the slllllow grind to level 90. It's only slow because I have no free time. For the bonus question, my favorite comic book character is Spider Jerusalem from Transmetropolitan, with Mitchell Hundred from Ex Machina as my second. Can you tell I like politics?

Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) Spending the weekend playing Paper Mario: Sticker Star, same as how I spent most of the week. It's a terrific game you all should be playing (if you have a 3DS). Failing to have a favorite comic book character, my favorite "character at all" is Fox Van Allen.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Taking the weekend off of gaming mostly to prepare for the holidays. Those pies aren't going to bake themselves. Also still working on my Nano, I'm up to 41k words >.> Home stretch!

As far as favorite comic character, well, that will always be Spidey! Here's a painting to prove my love and adoration!

Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) Lots of WoW this weekend, punctuated by breaks watching my son's Skyrim and Halo games (but I can't watch very long, because it makes me motion sick to watch someone else running around in a game). Bonus: I don't need to pick a favorite comic book character, because my husband collects and mods comic book figures. I have about 100 of them in glass cases about 20 feet from my desk, and there are some 200-300 more in storage around the house. I don't think they'd like it if I played favorites - and even if they didn't mind, it's not a risk I'm willing to take.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) My elemental shaman is sitting at 444 ilevel right now. I'll be trying to gear her up to run into raid finder before the raid week ends. Other than, I may dabble in some League of Legends since the new season has recently started. I also picked up the new Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.

Matt Rossi (@MattWRossi) I will be playing WoW.

My favorite character is Superman. If you don't know why, read "For the Man who has Everything" or "Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow?"

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Playing Borderlands 2, which is way better than 1 so far.

Bonus: I'm a bit of an Iron Man hipster. Was a huge fan for the entirety of my childhood, way before the movies were ever made.

Michael Gray (@writegray) I'm getting ready for a trip for Thanksgiving; going down to Florida to see family. As far as comic book character, it's Batman for me. Always. Though I'm desperately looking for a female heroine that's not attached to a love story as a rolemodel for the Squishy.

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) 9 days of The Spawn and The Spousal Unit. Their vacation means no peace for me. /whine Mists and board games. That's what I'll be playing all 9 days. Mists and board games.

Bonus: I refuse to choose! Wonder Woman got me into comics in the first place. Loki is my all time favorite comic book villain. Black Widow's story is compelling, along with Catwoman's. This is not a complete list of favorites, otherwise I'd be here all day.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
