Gok'lokk's Shell brings beauty to Pandaria

Mists of Pandaria has introduced a tremendous amount of fun vanity items, more so than any expansion before. So many in fact, that many players are begging for a vanity item tab that works much the same way as the pet and mount tabs that were added at the end of Burning Crusade. After all, when you find something that does something cool to your character, you automatically want to keep it.

And when it's something truly odd, you want to use it at every possible opportunity. Imagine this: you're in the latest iteration of LFR. A tank has just left the group, and everyone is standing around waiting for a replacement to appear. Suddenly, you are assaulted with the sight of a muscular green orc, proudly standing in his underwear atop a clam shell a la Birth of Venus. He flexes. You boggle. And you think to yourself, where on earth do I get this thing because I need it immediately?

It's Gokk'lok's Shell, and it's surprisingly easy to get, once you know where to look for it.

To procure a piece of halfshell-heaven, you'll have to take a magical journey under the sea ... or you can simply head to the Dread Wastes. Just to the northwest of Rikkitun Village, off the coastline is a mysterious little area called the Gokk'lok Shallows, at coordinates 27,16 in the Dread Wastes. Under the water, you'll find a giant elite clam named Gokk'lok. Don't worry about breathing, however; when you're near Gokk'lok, you'll get a buff that allows you to breathe underwater and walk across the ocean floor.

This elite creature won't hit you if you begin to attack it -- it doesn't exactly have any

appendages to hit you with, after all. However, Gokk'lok is apparently a beloved denizen of the ocean. As a beloved friend to all aquatic creatures, said aquatic creatures will come to defend the clam and make quick work of you if you aren't careful. Gokk'lok is soloable, but it's far easier to defeat him in a group.

Once defeated, Gokk'lok will open his shell, and the nearby sprite residents of Rikkitun Village will show up, steal his pearl, and flee. You'll also automatically get a quest called Promises of Gold. Head to Rikkitun Village to turn in the quest and collect your reward, Gokk'lok's Shell. Using the shell will plop your character in a clamshell wearing nothing but their underwear for two minutes, or until you move your character. Sadly, it has a 30 minute cooldown, so you can't stand around the Shrine of Two Moons all day looking ridiculous.

If you're headed to Gokk'lok's Shallows, don't worry if you see someone killing Gokk'lok. He's not a rare mob, so his respawn time is almost instantaneous. Just kill, turn in, and collect, and you too can be baffling party members with your character's sudden and ridiculous transformation into a work of living art.
