Aksys announced that it will handle distribution duties for Rising Star's 2012 lineup, which currently consists of the Cave shooter Akai Katana and ... probably some other stuff, none of which has been announced. Given that Aksys has published Cave shooters itself, it would seem the partnership doesn't really take the publisher out of its comfort zone.
And that marks the only time Cave shooters have been referred to as a "comfort zone."
Rising Star Games selects AKSYS Games to distribute the entire 2012 line-up
TORRANCE, Calif. – April 11, 2012 – AKSYS Games Localization, Inc., a publisher of interactive entertainment software, is proud to announce the partnership with European-based publisher Rising Star Games Inc. AKSYS Games will exclusively distribute Rising Star Games' complete 2012 North American line-up.
Rising Star Games' first title to be introduced to the U.S. is Akai Katana, to be released later this spring for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Akai Katana is a side-scrolling 'bullet hell' shooter game set in a parallel world resembling Japan's Taisho period. Utilizing the power behind the world's Blood Swords for leverage, shoot'em up fans will fight alongside their rebel warrior kin as they seek to regain peace and order by taking on a fierce empire of tyranny. AKSYS Games will provide distribution services for Akai Katana, and all subsequent titles throughout the year.
Founder and CEO of AKSYS Games, Akibo Shieh said,"We are happy and proud to become an important role in introducing Rising Star Games' video games to the U.S. market. We believe Rising Star Games' can effectively launch and expand their business in the North American territory by utilizing our in- house sales and logistic resources. At the same time, we are very confident that our combined efforts will create a synergy and increase brand awareness for both Rising Star Games' and AKSYS Games."
"I am excited to finally bring Rising Star Games compelling video games to the USA. We have, in line with our approach to publishing in Europe these past years, decided to come to the market by partnering with experts in their field. Aksys Games offer an expertise and know-how that will define our success across 2012" said Martin Defries, President, Rising Star Games.
