The Queue Virgin sacrifices, Throne of Thunder progression, and old gods

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Dawn Moore will be your host today.

I was supposed to ritually sacrifice some virgin olive oil yesterday but I completely forgot. Fortunately the sports game the sacrifice was intended for hasn't started yet, and even if it had, it wouldn't be over for days. As it turns out though, I'm a Queue virgin -- that's right, I've never done a Queue before in my three years writing for WoW Insider. Go figure, right?

So how does this being sacrificed thing go? I assume there are cookies.

RussHada asked:

So once Throne of Thunder is released, what will be the official path of progression? Should my group (11/16N) run normal ToT after all 5.0 normal is cleared? Or are there some heroics (MSV?) we should do first, then ToT?

Blizzard was testing normal modes on PTR with gear normalized to ilvl 502. It's hard to say what the final tuning will look like, but I'm going to guess that you'd want your raid's average ilvl to be well into the 490s before tackling Throne of Thunder. Anything under 490 and you'll probably have a hard time.

So you'll probably want to finish up tier 14 normal modes at a minimum. I don't think heroics are absolutely necessary unless you really want to do them yourselves.

That all said, if you have a highly skilled group you might be able to make do with less. If you're confident in the abilities of your raid team, zone in and give Jin'rohk a try. You should be able to gauge where your raid team stands with that encounter.

Zengarzombolt11 asked:

Do we have the name of the old god that was killed by Titans and became the Sha? And any details about the battle?

The god's name was Y'Shaarj. The most information we have on him comes from the Klaxxi quest Shadow of the Empire. Here are some of the details.

"Our Gods were many, and powerful. We mantid worshipped the seven heads of Y'Shaarj. When the usurpers came - the ones you call 'Titans' - Y'Shaarj was destroyed. Great was the Old One, and terrible was his wrath. He consumed hope and begat despair; he inhaled courage and breathed fear. His last terrible breath has haunted this land ever since, but the shadows he left behind are mere whispers of his former glory."

Based on that description, I'm not sure we'll actually get to fight Y'Shaarj himself. The old gods we fought in the past, C'Thun and Yogg'Saron, were imprisoned by the Titans, not killed. Of course there is speculation that old gods can't truly be killed, so it's a possibility. For now I think our battles against the Sha serve as our indirect fight against Y'Shaarj. By destroying his remnants we've probably pushed back any possibilities of him returning in the near future.

Honestly, I'm not sure we could take on Y'Shaarj alone right now. If the Sha of Fear is a "mere whisper of his former glory" we'd probably need to have the Titans at our side to win. What do you guys think?
