Telefonica pens deal with Evernote, gives global customers one year's free premium access

You've got to hand it to Evernote, it's taking the initiative when it comes to getting its popular productivity tools into as many hands as possible. We've already seen Deutsche Telekom customers score access to it's premium services for free, now over 247 million Telefonica customers are getting the same -- a $45 saving. The partnership kicks off in Brazil via the Vivo brand, whose customers can get a year's access to the top-tier features starting today. Unlike the German deal, it's unclear whether existing customers of the premium service still qualify, but like the versatile tool's logo, if they don't, those customers may never forget.

Telefonica Digital and Evernote today announced a global partnership that will bring productivity to more than 247 million Telefonica mobile customers across the globe.

As part of the strategic agreement, Evernote will provide one-year Evernote Premium accounts to customers of participating Telefonica operating businesses worldwide.

The partnership kicks off in Brazil through an agreement with Telefonica local mobile brand Vivo, a leading telecommunications company in Brazil. Starting today, Vivo customers are able to enjoy a more powerful experience with Evernote Premium. Vivo and Evernote are offering one year of Evernote Premium at no cost to all Vivo mobile customers during a special, limited-time offer.

To take advantage of this special limited offer, current Vivo customers can redeem the promotion by downloading Evernote on iOS and Android devices supported by Evernote. Each customer can only redeem one Evernote Premium offer. Users can access www.vivo.com.br/evernote on their Android or iOS devices to download the latest version of Evernote and redeem the offer.

"Our goal is to make people smarter by creating a product that transcends local cultures and tastes while increasing productivity," said Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote. "We are excited to launch a partnership with Telefonica, one of the leading telecommunications companies in the world, which allows us to bring our products to millions of mobile customers across the globe. By starting our partnership in Brazil, we are able to tap into Vivo's vast mobile market presence and continue Evernote's incredible growth in this important country."

"We are delighted to be able to offer our customers around the world this great service free for a year. Our customers have consistently told us that they desire services that make their life better beyond connectivity. Evernote does just this, but connects personal and business information in a way that actually makes it useable and findable," said Wayne Thorsen, VP of Global Partnerships of Telefonica Digital.

"This agreement reflects Telefonica Vivo's commitment to bringing innovative services to its customers. With this exclusive service, Vivo can offer customers one more point of differentiation, besides the best quality and most extensive coverage," said Roberto Piazza, Head of Telefonica Digital Brazil.

Evernote helps users lead more productive lives by keeping all the information that's important to them at their fingertips. With Evernote, Vivo customers can quickly create written notes and to-do lists and capture photos on the go. Those important thoughts and images are then synced as Evernote Notes across personal devices like smart phones, PCs and tablets. Notes can later be instantly recalled by the user wherever they go using whichever device they have on hand.

The partnership announced today gives Vivo customers access to the Evernote Premium level of service that includes features like a higher monthly upload limit (1GB), the ability to read notes offline, more security features, more sharing options and faster customer support.
