WRUP: Situations in which we may in fact be royals edition

And we'll never be royals (royals) / which is just a metaphor / I'm really talking about the music industry / or possibly about Australia's lack of a ruling class

I think it's a little presumptuous to say that we'll never be royals. For starters, have you seen the succession lists for the British throne? Those are crazy long. All you really need to do is be on the list right where it would otherwise stop, also known as the King Ralph effect.

Assuming that doesn't come to pass, there are still more possibilities. For instance, you could come across a royal in the woods with a thorn in his or her foot, as I assume royalty works much like lions in fables and requires the aid of random strangers in the woods for thorn removal. Plus, you might happen to meet a member of the royal family and marry him. That's worked well for a few people.

Speaking of horrible segues, it's time for this week's installment of WRUP, in which the Massively staff shares our plans for the weekend. Let us know what you'll be up to in the comments!

Anatoli Ingram, Guild Wars 2 Columnist

@ceruleangrey: My quest to become a Pokémon master is in conflict with my quest to get my last two professions to 80 in Guild Wars 2. Actually, the bigger conflict is that I made a second Necromancer and he's already almost caught up to my Ranger and far ahead of my Warrior. Whoops. If time allows I'll be doing some minerating and botanizing in Final Fantasy XIV as well.

Beau Hindman, F2P and Mobile Columnist

@Beau_Hindman: I'll be trying out some Cannons, Lasers, Rockets for a preview article, checking in on DC Universe Online and a few others, and switching to my next Rise and Shiny game, Path of Exile. I'm also going to continue playing Marvel Heroes, which has been pretty darn fun. Color me surprised. The game looks fantastic as well.

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: I'm going to continue playing that thing I can't talk about and then probably swing by Guild Wars 2 for some alt-leveling. I also got Path of Exile reinstalled, so maybe I'll give that a third try this weekend!

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: I'm idly poking about in Saints Row IV, but my real foci are the same as always: Final Fantasy XIV and a smattering of Pokémon Y. Considering how much of the month has been taken up with wedding planning and the like, it'll be nice to have a weekend off.

Jef Reahard, Managing Editor and Columnist Extraordinaire

@jefreahard: I'm playing Arkham Origins. If I can put that down, which is doubtful, I might fire up some Lord of the Rings Online, DCUO, or FFXIV.

Justin Olivetti, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: With any luck, The Secret World will have Issue 8 out and I'll be all up in that. Even if not, I've been going back through the game and finishing up missions that I missed the first time around. I'll probably do a few Hearthstone dailies as well and ignore the siren's song of World of Warcraft that this card game evokes.

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: Nothing like getting into the spooky spirit of things! I am so excited that The Secret World brought the Cat God back; I will be finishing up that quest line and doing the new Halloween series this weekend. I also have new goodies to get in EverQuest II's Night of the Dead event. And, since this weekend isn't stuffed to the gills with work, I will also get in some more skirmish time in Lord of the Rings Online.

Patrick Mackey, League of Legends and Age of Wushu Columnist

@mackeypb: I am definitely going to be playing League of Legends, where I frustratingly try to not lose because I am awful at video games. I think I am fairly close to identifying a critical element of my play I need to improve (being too desperate to make plays) so maybe things will turn around. I also picked up Learn to Survive on Steam, and I'll be playing some of that too. Other stuff I might play includes Smashmuck Champions, Age of Wushu, and GW2. I might also play Arkham Origins, but probably not this weekend.

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: Hearthstone is addicting. It's starting to take over much of my free time. I think Blizzard missed an opportunity at naming the game Murlocs & Mana, however. I'll also be jumping into Guild Wars 2 and fighting the dreaded queue monster for a chance to help Blackgate in the first World vs. World season.

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist

@terilynns: I'll be back in Star Trek Online to continue my explorations into the Tribble test server to see what else we have in store for Season Eight. I will also be playing Lord of the Rings Online, rebuilding Hytbold with one of my characters and getting another one ready to enter Moria. I'll also be grinding my way through the haunted burrow in order to get the spooky steed and caparison of the bat for all 12 of my characters during the Fall Festival. I might also be downloading Minecraft. My eight-year old nephew told me that it's "really big" where he lives and that he wouldn't mind playing with me a little bit. That's as close as an invitation I think I'm ever going to get.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
