The Queue: To fang or not to fang

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.

Fangs for life.

Andrew10 asked:

I've decided to use my lvl 90 boost on a female Nelf druid. I love the new female Nelf model, with the fangs. My question is, if I do this now, and I like the face I choose, am I still going to be happy when we get the new models? Or will there be differences in the models that don't exist now, so I'll wish I had chosen a different face? Like, will I pick a face, and then come new models, realize mine doesn't show the fangs, but another one has them on display?

This is hard to answer because at the moment, all of the new character models are being considered a work-in-progress. They still receive tweaks and fixes ... and players in the beta are still adjusting to them, so it's hard to judge if something is intended or not. If you don't want to play the character immediately, I'd recommend waiting until Warlords releases, then you can create the character with the new models rather than with the old and hoping it translates properly.

Alternatively, you can follow Bruin's suggestion in the comments -- which I believe you saw, but I'm mentioning it anyway for any others facing this dilemma. To quote Bruin: "If you have the beta, you can make a toon level 1 in live, and import it to beta, and see if you like the changes."

Once again we have an answer almost contradicting a different author's answer from a few days beforehand. We've gone from "of course Garrisons aren't just one and done in Warlords, Blizzard always finds ways to incorporate new features into further expansions" to "there's no indication Garrisons will be around after Warlords". Which would be fine, if the authors actually seemed aware of this difference of opinion and eked some interesting discussion out of it! But instead the editorial voice for the site comes off as a bit sloppy and schizophrenic

When it comes to questions that start with "do you think" -- such as the question you're referring to -- we're going to answer that based on what we, as individuals, actually think. If you ask my opinion on something, I'm not going to call the team for a huddle so we can form a singular thought. That's silly. That isn't what humans do. We're not all going to agree. Forcing one thought on all of us eliminates our individual humanity and that's awful. If we need to give WoW Insider's Official Stance on Weird Drama or whatever, then we'll do that as a unit because it's an answer from all of us. Until then, we're individuals answering the questions asked of us as individuals.

Adam doesn't think garrisons will be used beyond Warlords of Draenor. I don't think we'll see garrisons, but we'll see something similar to use all of the work they've put into developing it.

@magnuscharm asked:

do you think we will get more hairstyles in the future with new models?

I think it's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it, either. I believe the only time they've added new hairstyles was to coincide with the release of the barber shop. The release of new models would be a good reason to add more hairstyles, but I'd guess hairstyles are pretty low on their artwork priority list. It would be cool, though. I hope they do it. I just don't expect them to do it.

@Whammo_ asked:

do you think anybody will be farming old mounts and pets (time lost/minfernal) when WoD drops instead of leveling right away?

Will there be people doing it? Yeah, absolutely. There are always people who hang back and let the crowd move on before they swoop in themselves. They aren't in significant numbers, though. Getting the hot new shiny is way more tempting than camping that battle pet for yet another dozen hours.

@Fienddan asked:

what is the secret of steel?

Hold your Conan references until Rossi's up to bat. They're lost on me.
