Pep Up Your Wi-Fi Signal With These 5 Simple Tips

Wifi signal

How does it feel when you are catching up on your favorite series on Netflix and suddenly the video stops? BAAM!!..."Frustrating" is the only word that could do justice to such a nuisance. We have all been into a similar situation and it's erratic Wi-Fi signal that plays the spoilt sport here. With the contemporary world steadily getting virtual, the Wi-Fi network certainly plays a big role in ensuring an easy browsing experience. But, then, a seamless Wi-Fi signal throughout your home is often an impossible reality. However, the coolest bit is that there are some real easy tips that can amp up your Wi-Fi signal so that you never have to feel "BAAM" while binge watching your favorite videos.

Powerline adapters

Powerline adapters assure amazingly speedy network using electrical wiring and you would need minimum 2 Powerline adapters. Using them is a breeze, you would simply have to plug 1 adapter into the power socket adjacent to your router & then link it to your router with Ethernet cable. The 2nd adapter would be plugged into an active power socket located in a room, far away from your router. It would be then connected to your games console or smart TV or Sky+ box or laptop and so on with Ethernet cable. This way, you will have a steady signal throughout your home, even in those rooms farther from the router.

Wi-Fi extenders are helpful

Powerline adapters are no doubt great but then they are really expensive. A cheaper yet quality alternative to boost your Wi-Fi signal would be Wi-Fi extenders. These extenders would catch wireless signal & rebroadcast it that further amps up router signal for another floor or room, at a distance from the router. The extender must be placed in some central location and never too far from your main router. You should understand here that these extenders are designed to boost up the router's signal. So, in case you place it in some weak Wi-Fi network spot, you will only receive a weak signal. Thus, you have to strategically place it in some place with strong Wi-Fi to assure a stronger signal end of the day. The perfect location or the extender would be half way in between the main router & the devices intended to use the wireless signal.

Multifunctional signal boost

How about having a Wi-Fi, HDTV & cellular signal booster in one? Sounds utopian, right? But no its true and today you have such all-in-one signal boosters which can amp up signals for your TV, cable broadband and mobile internet simultaneously and that too from one source. It's anyday less expensive and more convenient than buying the Wi-Fi, HDTV & cellular signal boosters separately. The device could be controlled from one single central location.

Upgrade the router

Old routers can also lead to Wi-Fi signal disturbances. Thus, if your router is aged by now, I will suggest you to replace it with modern, more powerful next generation Wi-Fi routers. You have advanced dual-band routers today with 4 Gigabit Ethernet-ports & dual-core ultra fast processors. Defined by the state of the art Beamforming technology, these routers are designed to direct signal towards the intended Wi-Fi devices for greater speed, performance & better Wi-Fi experience.

Perpendicular router antennas

Wi-Fi would work best when the signal is parallel to the internal antenna of an intended device. The internal antenna is vertical in the desktop computers while its horizontal in the laptops. Thus, it's suggested to have perpendicular antenna for your router so that you can assure a solid connection both for your desktop & laptop or smartphones.

Wi-Fi network analyzer

You should know that there are certain objects or devices in your home which can disturb the wireless network signal. So, it's suggested to count on a Wi-Fi network analyzer that would track down sources or causes of interference. The usual appliances which could mean interference to your Wi-Fi network are microwave ovens, cordless phones, security alarms, TV remote and baby monitors.
Finally, you might need to reposition the router to assure better signal strength. Just make sure there are no metal objects near it and place the router at a central position in your home.
