We really enjoyed the LA8600, even with its slight color temperature issue and yawn-worthy black levels. And while we easily say this is a terrific display, its huge asking price of $2,699.99 for a 55-inch model is a bit steep. quote

The LG LA8600 series of HDTVs offers beautiful aesthetics, sharp 2D and 3D imagery, and rich color reproduction at a premium price. You get lots of features with this series, some of which are of questionable value.

The LA8600 isn't all that that different from LG's next highest-ranked LED set, the LA7400, in terms of features, save for the built-in camera. If you don't use your TV for Skype conferences on the daily, save yourself $500 and go with that instead.

Although its lovely frame is packed with well-executed features, the flagship-priced LG LA8600 series LED LCD TV has the picture of a midrange model.

The LG LA8600 is the company's top of the line LED TV for 2013. Its Smart TV interface is neither as extensive or as smooth as some rival offerings, but it remains an excellent TV overall.

The LG 47LA860W is best thought of as a massively impressive TV for a living room. It doesn't have the characteristics demanded of a great home cinema, but most other kinds of users will love both its looks and its fabulous best-in-class user interface.

While it’s great to see LG thinking out of the box and delivering the goods with the design and smart features of its latest TVs, on the evidence of both LG 55LA860W and the previously tested 55LA740V, it needs to focus more effort into the contrast performance of its TVs.

All in all, LA8600 feels a lot like last year’s LG TVs. We see no major improvements in the Smart TV features or picture quality. That is not necessarily a bad thing and LG’s TV in the top of the LED pack but compared to the competition we just feel that LG leaves a bit to be desired.

Slick with great picture quality and colour tones. I bought the first model in the shop and was thrilled....until I saw how much the price dropped a few months later......should have waited but am still really pleased with what I've got. Great to keep in contact with friends and family using...
