Samsung's decision to hold off on the ATIV Tab in North America, at least for the time being, was the right one to make. This isn't a bad tablet by any means, but better Windows RT-equipped options already exist.

... given the tradeoffs available, it's still the best device I've seen so far for Windows 8. Where the design of the Surface Pro fails, the Ativ Tab 7 succeeds. I'm not sure if I like Windows 8 yet, but if I had to use it every day, I'd want to do it with this device.

We welcome the arrival of the Samsung ATIV Tab and Windows RT as the tablet market is in need of alternatives to Android and the iPad. The device is not likely to disappoint, as long as you are willing to give it a chance.

Honestly, we're really struggling to get past the price tag. With both its nearest competitor (the Microsoft Surface) and pretty much everything in the Apple and Android camps coming in at less money, we'd expect something really special from the Samsung Ativ Tab.

The good looks, shiny screen and decent battery can’t save the Ativ Tab from what’s at the heart of it – Windows RT. This just isn't suitable for business use, and isn't worth the inflated price tag.
