With a lower price-tag, better lens and selfie-friendly design, for us the Samsung NX3000 is a bigger but better camera than the similarly priced NX Mini, and is also very well-appointed when compared with its main rivals.

While the NX3000 looks pretty comparable to the Sony A5000, it's more expensive; the tilting LCD and the Adobe Lightroom 5 bundle with the Samsung are the only significant differentiation in the absence of information about performance and photo quality.

Unlike the NX2000, however, the NX3000's nod to retro styling includes a move back towards more conventional controls: there are more buttons on the rear of the camera, so it should be more appealing to those photographers who like to have buttons to control major settings and features.

Along with the sensor, the NX3000 also features a 1/4000 shutter speed and 5fps continuous shooting, while sensitivity speeds run up to ISO 25600. Full HD video recording is available, as is built-in Wi-Fi. As one of Samsung's "SMART" cameras, it features 'Tag & Go' integration.

So what’s changed? The screen went down in size to 3″ (down from 3.7″ on the NX2000) and in resolution – the new camera has an HVGA screen (compared to VGA on the NX1000, WVGA on the NX2000). It is a flip-up display though, plus Wink Shot for those all-important selfies.
