If you're in the market for an affordable 4K camcorder, you probably won't do much better than Sony's FDR-AX100 Handycam. This compact CES model is considerably more portable, with a 74 percent reduction in size and a 66 percent drop in weight.

The camera is clearly targeted toward enthusiasts, though. It has built-in NFC and Wi-Fi, allowing it to stream video to a TV or be controlled from a smartphone. And as consumer camcorders tend to, the FDR-AX100 has a wide-angle lens.

To remain friendly with existing video-editing software, the AX100 records in XAVC S, which is an AVC/H.264 video (+linear PCM audio) stream in an MP4 container. Since it has a lot of processing power, the Sony FDR-AX100 can also record simultaneously in AVCHD and MP4.

This is no toy its quite the professional level camera, built-in ND filters, Cinema-tone and manual controls make this camera a videographer's dream camera. I can do everything I need without digging into menus. Colour it very good. O yah, it's also a 4K camera!!!!
