While the PS3's integrated Blu-ray player offers less value now that standalone players are now going for as little as $60, the PS3 remains a solid gaming platform. The arrival of the PlayStation Vita portable console makes it even more attractive, since you can now take compatible games on the road.

Over all, the PS3 Slim is a phenomenal piece of kit. It's amazing that something so small can do so much. And so if you've just bought a new telly, that extra £50 you'd have to spend over the cost of an Xbox 360 Elite will be worth it just for the Blu-ray player.
