Curve Studios' stealthy platformer Stealth Inc will receive a special Ultimate Edition version on PS4 in early March, the developer announced today. The bundle will include the base version of the game formerly known as Stealth Bastard as well as its two DLC add-ons, The Teleporter Chambers and The Lost Clones. The pieces of downloadable content add 40 levels to the game's already-existing 80. Stealth Inc launched on PSN for Vita and PS3 in July 2013, following its November 2012 launch on PC and April 2013 release on Mac and Linux. While it was Cross-Buy-enabled on PSN then, the developer noted today that the Ultimate Edition will not be free for current Stealth Inc owners to download. Still, it is "looking into ways we can offer a very significant discount to people who already own Stealth Inc," and will reveal as much in the coming weeks. [Image: Curve Studios]

The PC port of FuturLab's Vita game is being handled by Curve Studios, the same team working on the PS3 port. According to Curve, the PC version runs at 60 frames per second, and should make for a nice stocking stufffer when it arrives around Christmas time. FuturLab, meanwhile, is working on PS4 and Vita sequel Velocity 2X, as announced at Sony's Gamescom conference. 2X features top-down shooting and side-scroller platforming, which Futurlab hopes to weave into "one seamless experience."

Ed Key and David Kanaga's short-form adventure game Proteus will hit the PlayStation Network next week as a Cross-Buy title for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, Sony revealed in the latest PlayStation Blogcast episode. Proteus is a first-person, exploration-focused adventure game in which players explore a pixelated island, accompanied by a mood-setting soundtrack. The upgraded PS Vita version of Proteus features new world-generation options that produce unique maps based on a player's physical location. Both the PS3 and Vita versions share a feature that creates procedurally generated content based on the time of day. Proteus launched earlier this year for PC platforms, and was subsequently featured alongside Hotline Miami and Thomas Was Alone in a Humble Bundle compilation.

Curve Studios' "video dream" Proteus will launch this month on PS3 and Vita. The exploration game will include new world creation features on the Sony platforms. Players can generate their worlds using the Vita's location-tracking option and by using the current date on both PS3 and Vita. Also, players will have the chance to "remix" their worlds by using the Vita's back touch panel, and can still let the game randomly create their pixelated dreamscape. Proteus first launched on PC and Mac in January. For those that can't wait for the PS3 and Vita versions, it is available on both Steam and DRM-free through the game's official site DRM-free for $10.

Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark (formerly known as Stealth Bastard) is bringing its charming blend of stealth and platforming action to iOS. In a feature over on Pocketgamer, developer Jonathan Biddle said the iOS port is already underway. There is no timing for iOS port right now, though Biddle said it's proving difficult due to the different resolutions for all the iDevices out there. "The different screen resolutions and aspect ratios have meant creating three different versions of each of the game's 80 levels – iPad, widescreen iPhone and 4:3 iPhone," he said. "Testing the iOS version of the game now means playing it through three times every time the levels are changed." Stealth Inc has already found success on Windows PC, Linux, Mac, PS3, PS Vita and Android.

  • 'Lone Survivor Director's Cut' brings creepy survival to PS3, Vita today

Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut isn't just a port of the 2012 survival horror game for PC and Mac – it's a completely revamped experience with new locations, items, music, trophies and dialogue, and two brand new endings, among many other updates. It's out today as a Cross Buy, Cross Play title for PS3 and Vita, for $13. Lone Survivor is Jasper Byrne's psychological survival adventure game that allows players to choose the method of their madness: Shoot everything that goes bump in the dark or sneak around quietly to escape the ravaged city; stay healthy with food or pills; seek out other survivors or go it alone. The Director's Cut will launch on PC and Mac, via Steam and the game's store, as soon as Byrne completes the port. "It will be out as soon as I can physically do it," Byrne says. "It will take time as it's not a simple port, but it is my next priority and I will have more news about this soon."

Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut will brave the dark on the Vita and PS3 on September 24, the PlayStation Blog announced on Friday. The Director's Cut will include "20 new items, new endings, and new game locations," as well as a tweaked lighting system and support for touch on the Vita. It will also be Cross Buy and Cross Save compatible, meaning you can scare yourself silly wherever you'd like. Lone Survivor follows a masked protagonist's attempt at escaping a disease-ridden city. The game supports different styles of play, allowing for reserved sneaking or the guns-blazing approach, assuming enough bullets can be found for it. Proper character management plays a role as well - the right amount of rest and food can be supplemented with drugs, but fudging up any one element too severely risks the character's well-being, including his mental health.

Point-and-click survival horror game Lone Survivor has been delayed to September, Curve Studios announced via Twitter. The game's designer, Jasper Byrne, recently noted that Curve Studios' port of the game to PS3 and Vita has led to "hundreds of tiny little changes and improvements." It was originally planned to arrive on Sony's consoles this summer. Since the game "has a lot of new hidden, dark corners" and "even looks and sounds pretty different," Byrne said the PS3 and Vita version will be known as Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut. Curve Studios said it would "rather release an amazing game later than a good game early."

  • PlayStation Plus 'massively inflated' my audience, says Thomas Was Alone creator

Thomas Was Alone "sold really well" on Vita and PS3 since its April launch according to creator Mike Bithell, and in particular through PlayStation Plus where uptake has been "ridiculous" and "amazing." Bithell told Joystiq Thomas Was Alone, or "the rectangle game" as he self-mockingly called it, found its way into more hands through Plus than any other "platform" up to that point - the indie platformer launched on PC last summer before coming to Steam later in the year. "And that's exciting," Bithell told us, "Because that's a whole bunch of cool players who are really into their games - that's why they have PS Plus - who know who the hell I am now." "As someone who's making the difficult second album," Bithell added, "I need as many people onside, and knowing what Thomas Was Alone is, and maybe even knowing who I am, so it means something when the trailer comes out and it says 'From the creator of Thomas Was Alone.' And that's what PS Plus was awesome for. It just massively inflated my audience beyond what a normal esoteric indie platformer would have, which is great." Bithell said he plans to unveil 'Project 2,' that difficult second album, in the coming months. He was enthusiastic, however, to reflect on Thomas Was Alone, which started life as the story-less product of a 24-hour jam, and was so called because one of Bithell's friends joked he should give it an "emo" title so people would read meaning into it that wasn't there. Nearly three years later, Thomas Was Alone took four stars in our review, which lauded the story for making us care about rectangles.

Curve Studios' Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark will launch on PS3 and PS Vita in North America on July 23, the developer revealed in an email today. Stealth Inc will launch a day later in Europe, on July 24. Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark, a puzzle-platformer with a heavy emphasis on stealth, started out as Stealth Bastard on the PC back in 2011 but was renamed for Sony platforms last April. The PS3 and PS Vita versions of Stealth Inc are cross-buy enabled, so purchasing on one platform guarantees a copy on the other. Curve Studios has made a name for itself on PlayStation platforms, most recently bringing Thomas Was Alone to the PS Vita and PS3. Prior to Thomas' outing, Curve produced Stealth Bastard on the PC and developed the endearing homage to 16-bit Japanese action games, Explodemon.

  • Proteus brings natural, pixelated beauty to PS3, Vita this fall

Proteus, the award-winning exploration experiment, will join the growing list of indies gracing PS3 and Vita this fall. Curve Studios, developer of Stealth Bastard Deluxe, is working with developers Ed Key and David Kanaga to bring Proteus to Sony's platforms. Proteus launched on PC and Mac in January (and later on Linux). Proteus offers a procedurally generated universe of exploration and is, in a sense, the epitome of an indie game. It's a beautiful world backlit by a soothing yet energetic soundtrack that the player creates as he explores all four seasons of a pastel island. It's a digital, on-screen experience that conveys just as much about the grandeur of nature as a real-life camp out. It's experimental and it has no classic "game" elements: no score, no leaderboards, no checkpoints. "Here at Curve we've been working with Ed to make the PS Vita and PS3 versions even better than the original, and over the next few months we're going to have more information on how we're using the power of PS3 and PS Vita to bring the absolute best Proteus experience to you guys," Curve Marketing Manager Rob Clarke writes on the PlayStation Blog. If you can't wait for Proteus on PS3 or Vita, it's available for $10 now on Steam, and supports Big Picture mode.

Stealth Bastard, Curve Studios' sneaky puzzle platformer, has cleaned up its act and now sports a new name, as suggested by two fans: Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark. Curve held a contest to rename Stealth Bastard ahead of its launch on PS3 and Vita, promising the winner a Vita, a copy of the game and his name in the credits. Curve ended up picking two names and mashing them together, giving each person the grand prize."I'd like to express my gratitude to all 3,500+ of you that entered (yes, even those of you who submitted the perverted Stealth Orgasm, the outlandish Ze goggles! Zey do something! and the more classy El Chappo Stealtho)," Curve Lead Designer Sam Robinson writes. "They were all worthy titles, but there could be only one... well, two!"RIP Stealth Bastard, and long live Stealth Inc – A Clone in the Dark, coming to Vita and PS3 this summer.

Curve Studios is working on the port of Thomas Was Alone for PS3 and Vita, but it's also working on a PlayStation version of its own indie game. Stealth Bastard, a side-scrolling stealth platformer, is due on both PS3 and Vita this summer, with the clone-versus-robot sneaking intact, but one very important element missing."We'd like to present our fans with an opportunity to be a part of Stealth B**tard's journey to PlayStation," lead designer Sam Robinson writes on the PlayStation Blog [censorship his]. "We want to rename Stealth B**tard to something less profane... it's just too rude!" Submit the winning title by April 14, and you get a Vita, a copy of the game, and a credit. Plus the lingering guilt of being responsible for the death of a title like "Stealth Bastard."
