Amazon feels that there are a few too many superheroes in the world and would be thrilled to help you make them fight to the death in Injustice: Gods Among Us. 360 owners get the best discount - the standard version is $35, while the collector's edition is $60. PS3 owners need $40 for the standard and $65 for the collector's edition. Wii U owners can also pick up a standard copy for $43. 360 and PS3 owners hoping to spare their housemates from the sounds of Aquaman finally getting what's coming to him can also grab Turtlebeach's Ear Force XP300 wireless headset for $100. If you'd rather cheat and just horde all the superhuman powers with one character, a Steam-redeemable bundle of Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2 for the PC is also on sale for $5.

J'onn J'onzz, the shapeshifting, telepathic last-of-his-kind alien also known as Martian Manhunter, is now available as the fifth DLC fighter for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Injustice: Gods Among Us. No word on when/if J'onzz will make his way to the Wii U version, as has historically been the case with new DLC character releases for this game. The price on J'onzz's head tallies up at 400 MS Points/$4.99, which also fits the status quo. It's worth mentioning, however, that he is not free for those that purchased the game's DLC Season Pass, which only acted as a voucher for the first four DLC characters: Lobo, Batgirl, Scorpion and Zod. Carl Lumbly reprises his role as the voice of J'onzz, proving that there is at least a small amount of justice still left in the universe.

He's Martian, he hunts men, and he's coming to Injustice: Gods Among Us next week. The game's fifth DLC character has a date with PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace on Tuesday, July 30, so says the game's official Facebook page. Martian Manhunter, AKA the equally brilliant moniker of J'onn J'onzz, was revealed as the first of the non-season-pass characters at EVO 2013 earlier this month. There's no news on a price - the preceding four newbies were priced $5/400 MSP - or when Wii U players can expect their portion of Martian.

Martian Manhunter is the fifth DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us, after NetherRealm made the announcement fans had long been j'onzzing for. As revealed at this weekend's EVO 2013 event, the extra-super-terrestrial is the next DLC character to sign up following the season pass inclusions of Lobo, Batgirl, Scorpion, and General Zod. As for when he'll be touch down for the DC fighter, that's yet to be announced. Injustice director Ed Boon also confirmed the impending arrival of a John Stewart skin for the Green Lantern, which Shoryuken reports features a new voiceover.

The fourth DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us, General Zod, is now available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. The game's entire back catalogue of DLC has finally been pushed to Nintendo's console, along with a few new costumes that aren't available elsewhere in the US. The "Ame-Comi" pack includes a new costume for Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Wonder Woman based on their respective appearances in the "Ame-Comi Girls" universe, which is rooted in DC Collectibles' anime-inspired line of action figures. Previously, these costumes were exclusive to the Japanese version of the game. Additional costumes also dropped for all three versions of Injustice, including New 52 threads for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, Blackest Night zombie skins for Batman, Aquaman and Hawkgirl, and Earth 2 variants for Solomon Grundy, Flash and Hawkgirl. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game also get some fresh Man of Steel digs for Supes. A full breakdown of how much all this stuff costs can be found after the break.

Zod, available as part of the Injustice: Gods Among Us season pass or as an individual download for $5, is shown off in the video above. The Man of Steel skin, available in July for 80 MS Points ($1) and plucked from this summer's Man of Steel film, can be seen past the break.

  • May NPD: 3DS steals top console spot

The Nintendo 3DS finally edged out the Xbox 360 in May 2013 as the best selling console across hardware and portables, according to the NPD's monthly report on the retail sector. In what the NPD claims was a slow month overall, the 3DS landed three different games on the top 10 (including Donkey Kong Country Returns at number three, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon at number five, and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes at number 10), and saw a sixty percent growth in software sales overall since last May. 3DS hardware sales were only even year-over-year, but that was enough to finally supplant the Xbox 360 as the top-selling platform. The other consoles didn't fare quite so well, with Injustice: Gods Among Us keeping the top spot for video game sales. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 jumped back up into the number two spot, and Battlefield 3 reappeared at number nine. Metro: Last Light had a relatively successful showing in the number six spot, while Trion's Defiance MMO fell right off the list, after starting off at number five in April. Accessories saw a six-percent drop to $115.3 million, according to the NPD, with most of that money coming from Skylanders.

The heroes and villains of the DC Universe will soon kneel before Zod, as the perennial Superman villain has been revealed as Injustice: Gods Among Us' next DLC character. The announcement was made during the latest installment of Conan O'Brien's Clueless Gamer series, wherein Conan loses to a blindfolded Aaron Bleyaert. The segment also revealed a character based on Conan: "The Flaming C," which was co-designed by Conan and legendary DC animated universe pioneer Bruce Timm. We've reached out to Team Coco to find out whether The Flaming C will be coming to Injustice, or if his creation was solely for the show. We'll be simultaneously keeping our fingers crossed for The Flaming C, while also keeping our ears to the ground for more specific information about Zod's release, in the days to come. [Thanks, Steve!]

Everybody's favorite ninja-turned-skeleton-head-ghost-ninja (Mortal Kombat's Scorpion, obviously) will fight his way back from the grave and into the DC Universe this Tuesday, June 11, when he becomes the latest DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us. Scorpion's implementation in Injustice appears faithful to his incarnation in 2011's Mortal Kombat, though he won't play identically due to differences in Injustice's engine and gameplay mechanics. Ol' Scorps' toasty new threads were designed by legendary comic book artist Jim Lee, seen above talking design with NetherRealm's Ed Boon. Scorpion will cost $5.

Being in the middle of its first round of closed beta testing hasn't stopped Turbine Entertainment's DC Universe MOBA, Infinite Crisis, from making the grade as an official Major League Gaming selection, the developer announced today in a joint release with the esports organization. MLG will kick off the burgeoning relationship by streaming Infinite Crisis matches from Warner Brother's E3 booth, starting on the morning of Tuesday, June 11, and lasting through the rest of the conference. From there the game will be showcased at various events until it's fully released, at which point it will join the likes of League of Legends and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in MLG Pro Circuit tournaments. Warner's other competitive DC Universe property, Injustice: Gods Among Us, was recently revealed as an official selection for this year's EVO2k fighting game tournament series in Las Vegas. At this rate, we expect Arkham Origins' rumored multiplayer mode will soon be announced as an event in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Maybe it's just our Memorial Day hangovers, but today's gaming Gold Box from Amazon feels a bit muted. There aren't that many deals, and the all-day discount sees Injustice: Gods Among Us drop to $35 - a price we saw it at some time ago - albeit, the Collector's Edition is also going for $65. Still, maybe it'll perk up with the Lightning offerings. The highlights look to be Tomb Raider (9AM PT, midday ET), Forza Horizon (2PM PT, 5PM ET), and Dead Island Riptide. Regards Riptide, it has a couple of hours to survive at the time of publishing. The Gold Box discount sees the Special Edition sliced to $31.99 and the Rigor Mortis Edition cut to $59.99.

The Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl is now available as a playable fighter in Injustice: Gods Among Us, provided you're willing to pony up the $4.99/400 MS Points required to download her; however, Season pass holder have already paid their dues. As we've seen previously, Batgirl's fighting style is a mixture of zoning capabilities and rushdown, rather than a carbon copy of Batman or Nightwing. Two new costume packs are also available: The Red Son pack, which we've discussed at length, and the Killing Joke pack, which features new costumes from ol' Joker's finest hour. Both are available for $2.99/240 MS Points.

  • April NPD: Injustice: Gods Among Us reigns supreme

Another hot, fresh loaf of financial data has been pulled out of The NPD Group's analytical oven, and its buttery goodness contains sales information for the four week period between April 4 and May 7, 2013. During that time, the physical retail sector of the games industry was down 25 percent when compared with its performance over the same four weeks in 2012, pulling in a grand total of $495.2 million. It's worth noting, however, that this figure does not include the sale of PC games. Hardware sales brought in $109.5 million, a 42 percent decrease from the $187.8 million seen last year, with the Xbox 360 once again enjoying the highest sales with 130,000 units moved. Meanwhile, the brief reprieve from year-over-year decline seen by the Accessories segment last month was short lived, as in April it by dropped 19 percent to a total of $131.4 million. Software sales (including PC games) topped out at $267.8 million, with NetherRealm Studios' Injustice: Gods Among Us taking top honors as the best-selling game for the period, the first time a fighting game has finished in first since 2011's Mortal Kombat. Dead Island: Riptide and BioShock Infinite rounded out the podium in spots two and three respectively – meanwhile MMO/Syfy series Defiance debuted in fifth. As always, scope the full list after the break.

Hey, remember that bundle of Red Son Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC that GameStop had as an exclusive pre-order bonus? In a fitting turn of events, said bundle will no longer be the privileged purview of the bourgeois and will instead be available to the sweaty, overworked proletariat masses as of next Tuesday. No word yet on how much the DLC will cost, or whether it includes the pre-order's 20 bonus challenge missions in addition to the costumes seen above. The game's official twitter account has also asked which other characters from Red Son we'd like to see; we think the answer should be obvious.

NetherRealm Studios head Ed Boon is asking Injustice: Gods Among Us fans which DC character they'd like to see appear in the new fighter. In an unofficial poll, fans can choose their favorite Injustice DLC candidate. The (again, entirely unofficial) roster includes Blue Beetle, Doctor Fate, Powergirl, Red Hood (Jason Todd version), Static Shock, Swamp Thing and Zatanna. Our vote goes to Swamp Thing, because everyone knows it's important to be green these days.

  • Injustice: Gods Among Us' Batgirl footage ain't no (killing) joke

NetherRealm Studios has given us our first in-game look at Injusice: Gods Among Us' next DLC character, Batgirl. As we had suspected, this Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, rather than Cassandra Cain or Stephanie Brown, the other two primary Batgirls of traditional DC continuity. Thankfully, Batgirl doesn't appear to be a straight-up Batman or Nightwing clone, though there are some unavoidable similarities due to the nature of the characters' shared training. Regardless, Batgirl's grapple teleport and stun abilities should prove interesting against heavily ranged characters like Deathstroke. The Joker's tropical vacation garb is a reference to an outfit worn by the character in 1988's Batman: The Killing Joke, which is covered briefly in this trailer. We assume Killing Joke Joker will be part of a costume pack released alongside Batgirl, as was the case with Lobo.

Evolution Championship Series co-founder Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar announced that NetherRealm Studios' DC superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us is now a featured game in EVO 2013's official tournament lineup, joining big-name favorites like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. More good news arrived for Injustice fans today, in the form of a release window for the Wii U version's downloadable content. Responding to fan questions, the game's official Twitter account revealed that Wii U users will see its first round of DLC for the superhero and villain brawler this summer. Wii U players were previously left out in the cold as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners tussled with newcomer Lobo earlier this week. NetherRealm did not detail if the Wii U plans include additional costumes currently exclusive to Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Injustice. Batgirl is next up in NetherRealm's DLC release schedule. Two more as-of-yet unannounced characters will join Injustice's roster at a later date.

The first add-on character for NetherRealm's Injustice: Gods Among Us is available for download today. Lobo is an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, known for his love of space-cycles and cigars. Lobo is free to download for all Season Pass owners; everyone else pays 400 MS Points ($5) to add him to the roster. Lobo is the first of four planned DLC characters, soon to be followed by Batgirl. Three new DLC packs are also available for Injustice: Gods Among Us. The Teen Titans pack slaps alternate costumes on Cyborg, Raven and Deathstroke, while the Bad Girls pack groups together alternate versions of Catwoman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn – both are 240 MS Points ($3). Finally, the Flashpoint collection, previously exclusive to Season Pass holders, dresses up Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Deathstroke in their alternate dimension "Flashpoint" ensembles for 320 MS Points ($4).

NetherRealm Studios has revealed that Batgirl will be one of Injustice: Gods Among Us' four planned DLC characters. The announcement was accompanied by an admission that "the bat's out of the bag," referencing the fact that a listing for Batgirl had temporarily leaked onto the Xbox Live Marketplace hours beforehand. We're assuming that this is the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl, on account of her flowing red hair and the fact that Gordon is the current Batgirl of the New 52 mythos. We're not really sure what's up with her outfit, or the metal clubs attached to her arms, but we figure we'll learn more as gameplay footage is released next week. No word yet on when Batgirl wil be available.
