Sure, technically Lobo should win this fight, but something about Batman losing to The Main Man just doesn't feel right. At any rate, this trailer represents our first look at Injustice: Gods Among Us' first DLC character in action, showcasing Lobo's ranged chain whip/hook attacks, sawed-off shotgun and appropriately disrespectful super. This trailer also shows off a new Batman skin, specifically one based on the version Batman from the Flashpoint universe – Bruce's father Thomas Wayne, rather than Bruce himself. We've emailed Warner Bros. about the release window for Lobo and the new costume, and we figure more information will be available after an elaborate series of cross-franchise plot arcs and retcons.Update: NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon has announced on Twitter that Lobo will be available on May 7. No further information regarding Batman's new outfit has surfaced.

NetherRealm's interpretation of select DC comic heroes and villains in Injustice: Gods Among Us are being turned into action figures. Twelve different figures are coming in the first run, available only in pre-determined two-packs for $29.95 each. Each figure stands 3.75 inches and has over 20 points of articulation. On May 31, the first two packs will ship: Wonder Woman vs Solomon Grundy and Green Arrow vs Deathstroke. The other packs – Superman vs Nightwing, Flash vs Raven, Aquaman vs Black Adam and Cyborg vs Harley Quinn – will have staggered releases, available this summer on through September. With Batman conspicuously missing from the list of figures, we're left wondering if he's the action figure we want, but not the one we deserve.

  • Injustice: Gods Among Us prevails in this week's UK charts

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's this week's UK charts! Oh.But no, it is exciting, because BioShock Infinite's three week reign of terror is finally over, all thanks to the brave efforts of Injustice: Gods Among Us. NetherRealm's superhero brawler becomes the ninth new game to take the UK top spot this year, and ousts Infinite into the runner-up position for the first time. That means another run comes to an end; Tomb Raider's six week run in the top two is done, although it's still going strong in fourth. Beating it to an impressive third is new release Fire Emblem: Awakening, the 3DS RPG looking to continue the series-best sales it posted in North America. One thing Europe got that North America didn't was the game's snazzy blue 3DS XL, and that seems to be a hit in the UK; 31 percent of the XL's sales this week came from the bundle, boosting the XL's sales by nearly half over the previous week.

Comic books and fighting games have a lot in common. Both are known for featuring absurd, contrived premises, overly sexualized women and mythology so complicated even Tolkien couldn't reconcile all the pre-Crisis continuity issues. It's strange then, that up until now there's never been a solid fighting game set in the DC universe.Injustice: Gods Among Us is Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios' alternative take on DC's heroes, hooligans and thieves. Its dark thematic overtones and mature ideas explore the psychological dangers of power, the temptations of absolute authority and the effects of grief on the psyche of metahumans, all while delivering a polished, thrilling fighting game experience. No, really.%Gallery-156647%

The Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us doesn't support the iOS companion app. After receiving a copy from Warner Bros., Siliconera couldn't sync up the Wii U game with the iOS app and confirmed with Warner Bros. that the functionality is not present. The Injustice iOS app launched in April and is available as a free download, a hybrid fighter and collectible card game that allows players to unlock content in the console version of Injustice: Gods Among Us and vice versa. The Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us displays a move list on the WiiPad while you play and also allows players to move the action from the TV to the WiiPad through off-TV play.

Yup, Lobo. The Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC announcement was made by NetherRealm Studios creative director/Mortal Kombat mogul Ed Boon, during NetherRealm's extended wrap-up of its Battle Arena superhero popularity contest. No information was revealed regarding when Lobo will be available, though we can surmise from previous information that he'll probably cost about five dollars.Described as "a brawler, but a really fast brawler," Lobo is a ranged character that fights with his chains, according to Boon. After each fight, Lobo will return to his day job as an extra on the set of mid-90s television series Renegade. ... Okay, that last bit might be made up.

"It's a trap," said Aquaman. Batman's immediate response: "Of course it is." But what the Dark Knight held back from saying was, "Of course it is, you floundering fishman. OMG, why are you even here?! I don't have powers and I'm a stronger contributor to The Justice League. I weep for humanity the day Superman and Wonder Woman go off and make superbabies."

NetherRealm Studios has finally gotten around to admitting that Killer Frost and Ares are part of the Injustice: Gods Among Us roster, rather than letting a tweet and some Xbox Live Marketplace items hog all the fun.As the above trailer shows, Killer Frost predictably has more than a little in common with Sub-Zero, what with the ice powers and everything, though her abilities widely seem far more interesting than ol' Subs'. In fact, Killer Frost does the sorts of things it always seemed like Sub-Zero should have been doing, what with the icicle impalement and the freezing touch and whatnot. Meanwhile, Ares sounds like Dark Helmet from Spaceballs and has the ability to summon a multitude of different weapons, as one might expect from the god of war.In related news, NetherRealm Studios also unveiled an alternate Batman costume based on Batman Beyond, which can be seen after the break. We're not saying it makes us desperately pine for a full Batman Beyond game or anything, but we are going to go watch the show on Netflix and cry for hours and hours.

A screenshot of the full Injustice: Gods Among Us character selection screen has been tweeted by Warner Bros. employee Brandon Alexander, showing the inclusion of DC supervillains Killer Frost and Ares as part of the playable roster. The screenshot (full size here) shows a segregated selection of heroes on the left and ne'er-do-wells on the right, in what appears to be a Russian build for the game. Killer Frost and Ares first showed up on the radar two days ago, when Xbox Live Marketplace Avatar items hinted at their inclusion.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a game that's been coming to consoles for a while now -- it's a fighting game, made by the same team behind Mortal Kombat, that features DC Universe superheroes battling it out against each other. The team has released an iOS version of the game, and while it's not exactly the same as the console titles, as you can see above, it looks pretty darn good anyway. This version is being made by the same division of NetherRealm that made Batman: Arkham City Lockdown for Apple's devices, and just like that "port," this game goes above and beyond the call of just creating a mobile-sized version of its console brothers. For one thing, the iOS version of Injustice will have three-on-three battles. You can see the interface for choosing a team and fighting in this IGN video -- you'll pick three heroes to fight with, and then attack back and forth by swiping various gestures across the screen. The graphics aren't exactly as cool as the console versions, but it looks like some of the same models are in use, and each hero comes with three levels of super moves, and can even be leveled up for higher hitpoints and damage. The port looks very impressive indeed. I don't know if it'll be quite as good as the console game is looking, but it's clear NetherRealm isn't skimping on the quality when making an iOS version, and that's great to see. If you want to check the game out, you can download it for free right now.

Now that the Injustice: Gods Among Us demo is live on PSN and Xbox Live, the game's associated Avatar goodies have also hit the Xbox Live Marketplace. Of the many offerings available (Wonder Woman/Superman/Batman logo shirts, etc), the costumes for Killer Frost and Ares seen above are by far the most interesting, since those characters haven't been announced for the game.Considering that every other available costume is for one of the game's many playable characters, we feel safe in assuming that Ares and Killer Frost haven't been thrown in for giggles. More likely, these two villains are either unlockable fighters, or future DLC. We've reached out to NetherRealm studios for more information and will update with anything we learn.[Thanks, Sugg3s710n!]

  • Injustice season pass includes 4 characters, bonus costumes [Update: Now with more Harley Quinn]

    03.21.2013

Just as Mortal Kombat did before it, Injustice: Gods Among Us will employ the increasingly popular Season Pass monetization model convenience option for the game's inevitable character DLC. Who those characters actually are, of course, remains a mystery, though we do know that there will be four of them. The pass costs $14.99/1200 MS Points and includes four characters for "the price of three," according to the press release, which means we can safely infer that Injustice's character DLC will cost $4.99/400 MS Points a pop when purchased individually. You may begin theorizing over the identities of the above silhouettes at the sound of the beep.Three bonus costumes are also included, based on Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Deathstroke's alternate timeline personas from the plot arch that lead to the New 52 relaunch in 2011, "Flashpoint." For the uninitiated, Flashpoint is known as being the small splinter of the DC universe where Wonder Woman actually wore some damn clothes that made sense for a conquering warrior princess.Update: As a small aside, Harley Quinn's story trailer has been tucked away after the break. We'll keep this description brief in case anyone is avoiding such things because spoilers, but let's just say that the Joker is involved. Right? We couldn't believe it either.
