British developer Rebellion revealed a revamped third-person shooter bundle for PC, PS4 and Xbox One today, Zombie Army Trilogy. As the studio hinted in February 2014, the collection features both Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army and its sequel, stand-alone expansions of the developer's tactical shooter, Sniper Elite V2. The package also includes "the never-seen-before third installment in the series and a brand new horde mode." Both Nazi Zombie Army and the second expansion launched in 2013 for PC. Zombie Army Trilogy will include 15 missions that span three campaigns and five horde maps with up to four-player cooperative multiplayer options. The trilogy is available for pre-order on Steam for $45, and Rebellion is "offering an exclusive loyalty discount to owners of the first two Nazi Zombie Army games via Steam before launch," though it did not specify how sizable the discount will be. According to the bundle's Steam page, the trilogy is expected to launch on March 6, though Rebellion only noted that the game will launch in "early 2015." For the next 24 hours, Rebellion's World War 2 shooter Sniper Elite V2 will be free to download on Steam. The better news is that once you're done playing, you don't even need to return it - it's yours, forever. And why is Rebellion doing this? The company hopes that making V2 free will give newbies and those curious a chance to check out the series before the July 1 release of Sniper Elite 3. Well, that and because you're sooo good-lookin'. "In the end, independent studios like Rebellion know that players are more important than money," said Rebellion Co-founder Jason Kingsley. "If you can delight them and build that word of mouth, that buzz about your game – it's worth everything. We want people to interact with our studio and our games for years, not just launch week." The special promotion ends tomorrow at 1 p.m. EST / 10 a.m. Pacific. [Image: Rebellion]

UK-based developer Rebellion announced that its Sniper Elite V2 spin-off Nazi Zombie Army are coming to consoles after a successful debut last year on PC platforms. "We can't say much yet but it won't just be a re-package of the first two games - there will be plenty of new content to get stuck into," Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley said. "We're not at the stage where we can confirm the platforms right now, but we're fortunate to have experience already from self-publishing on Steam and mobile, so we're confident it'll go smoothly." Rebellion notes that Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army and its sequel Nazi Zombie Army 2 collectively sold more than 500,000 units worldwide over the last year. Both Nazi Zombie Army games are on sale for 75 percent off until March 3 on Steam and through March 7 via Rebellion's Gamestore. [Image: Rebellion]

Citing Miiverse player reactions, Nintendo Life reports that the recently released Wii U version of Rebellion's sniping sim Sniper Elite V2 lacks online cooperative play. The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of Sniper Elite V2 allowed players to team up with partners online in order to take on the game's campaign missions. Previously released ports also included cooperative Kill Tally, Bombing Run, and Overwatch modes, all of which are reportedly absent from the recent Wii U release. Sniper Elite V2's Wii U port additionally lacks downloadable content released for older ports. Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley previously confirmed that the Wii U version of Sniper Elite V2 would not ship with DLC bundled on-disc, though the company has not announced plans to release Wii U add-on content at a later date.

An enhanced Wii U version of Rebellion's sniping sim, Sniper Elite V2, is headed to retailers tomorrow, offering up a collection of platform-exclusive tactical options. Announced back in February, the Wii U edition of Sniper Elite V2 uses the console's GamePad by giving players an in-game map and quicker access to weapons and equipment. Players can additionally use the GamePad to tag and track enemies, mark traps, and predict the blast radius of planted explosives. The Wii U port also features off-TV GamePad mirroring, in case the rest of your family doesn't want to watch you shatter skulls.%Gallery-188866%

  • Rebellion teases new project, looks like Sniper Elite with zombies

Rebellion, developer of Aliens vs. Predator, NeverDead and Sniper Elite V2, is announcing a new project next month. The studio has offered a few details about the project, including the above trailer. The trailer info offers an apt description: "Footsteps quicken in the fog. Although the lone gunman's pace is swift the growing echoes of shuffling never slacken. They come.""One man is utterly alone amidst the chaos of war," it adds, "but there are worse things to fear than bombs and bullets here." The project will be fully revealed on Valentine's Day (appropriate!), with Rebellion promising that PC players will soon see "just what is in store for those brave enough to venture into the 'Totraum'. Heil Gotterdammerung!" A quick search reveals that totraum is German for "dead space." Gotterdammerung, meanwhile, is the German translation of Ragnarok, the end of the world. We'd speculate further, but the logo shown at the end of the trailer pretty much seals the deal. It's the Sniper Elite V2 logo, with the "V2" replaced by an inverted pentagram. So, wild guess, it's a Sniper Elite game with zombies.

The UK's All Formats chart has seen very little change over the past three weeks, with Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Rockstar's Max Payne 3 holding tight at first and second, respectively. FIFA 12 also maintained its position in third for a second week, as the stalwart game hasn't left the top ten since its debut last year. Game of Thrones was the only new title to break the top 40 last week, certainly a blessing of the franchise's name more than the quality of the game. Thanks to another week of minimal competition, Sniper Elite V2 maintains its vantage point atop the UK charts for a second week. The game may have seen sales drop 38 percent, but none of the new entries made any type of shakeup on the charts, with the regular motley crew holding the top ten. The EA triplets of FIFA 12, FIFA Street and Mass Effect 3 find themselves in second, third and fifth place, respectively. Nudging in there for some cuddle time in fourth is Prototype 2. Sony's Starhawk is the only new title to crack the top 40, flying in at spot 17 for its debut. March on past the break for the UK top ten.%Gallery-151767%

Sniper Elite V2 is naturally going to want a position at the top of Chart-Track's UK charts... it's the best vantage point. Thankfully, there wasn't very much competition around, as evidenced by what is probably the shortest overview of last week's sales activity by the stat tracking company in recent memory. The prior week's top performer, Prototype 2, fell one spot into second. It was followed by the EA triplets that never seem to be apart: FIFA 12, FIFA Street and Mass Effect 3. Beyond that, no new games to report making moves, no major shuffling of the status quo. Console players have had access to it for a while, but if you're on the PC and waiting to play Sniper Elite V2 the wait's over. The demo has appeared on Steam, weighing in at about 2 gigs, and should give you a good idea of what to expect when the game drops on May 1.PC users may have gotten the demo late, but they're getting rewarded with an exclusive 6v6 team deathmatch mode, along with all of the game's other options.Steam also says pre-orders will get two special weapons, the SVT-40 and the Karabiner, presumably alongside the bonus mission adjective to, you know, kill Hitler. That guy's still hanging around?

Sniper Elite V2 publisher 505 Games has told Joystiq that a demo for Rebellion's upcoming reboot is scheduled to arrive in April, one month ahead of the game's May release. The demo will be made available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though "the final date is not yet scheduled," the publisher told us.A PC version of Sniper Elite V2 is also in the works, which will be self-published by Rebellion. Reps for the game tell Joystiq a demo for the PC is also planned for "sometime next month."There's no telling what the demo will include, but Joystiq's recent preview should give you a good idea of what's in store. Sniper Elite V2 -- and its Kill Hitler pre-order bonus -- launches on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on May 4.When asked if the bonus would be made available as premium DLC in the future, a rep told Joystiq the developer has yet to determine the content's fate following launch. Our guess is Rebellion will give everyone a shot at the world's most hated man at some point -- it's just a question of cost.%Gallery-151767%

  • Targeting the Axis powers in Sniper Elite V2

I walk into a large conference room late, having dealt with a parking lot maze. As I enter, I spot a television well into a demo -- a bullet ejects from a Springfield rifle, time slows following it to an enemy, and cuts through a Nazi soldier like a chainsaw through a stick of butter.Reps from developer Rebellion and publisher 505 Games are huddled over the monitors, showing off Sniper Elite V2, a reboot of Rebellion's 2005 Sniper Elite for PC, PS2, Wii, and Xbox. The demo, I'm told, had only just started. "We get right into the action," a PR spokesperson tells me. But the action in Sniper Elite V2 isn't about quick progression through its Battle of Berlin setting -- it is methodical.%Gallery-151767%

  • Good Guy Sniper: Kills Hitler in Sniper Elite V2 pre-order bonus, doesn't die

Sniper Elite V2 doesn't ask too much out of players, just that they have a steady hand and, with a new pre-order bonus, that they kill Hitler. Pre-ordering Sniper Elite V2 before its North American ship date of May 1 gets players the Kill Hitler bonus mission and two new rifles, the SVT-40 and the Kar 98.The story in Kill Hitler has players intercept the Fuhrer's train before it leaves for Berlin and snipe him as he scurries away on foot, with only one opportunity to actually hit Hitler and alter history. Really, this game is actually a time-paradox generator, and every time you miss sniping Hitler a world exactly like our own is created -- and you know you don't want that. If you hit him, though, you'll have never been born. Twilight Zone style.

Rebellion's Sniper Elite V2 throws players behind enemy lines as an Allied soldier in World War II, strategically taking down Axis troops during the Battle of Berlin with x-ray-enabled headshots, as shown in the above video. UK-based developer Rebellion is on target to release a sequel to its 2005 sharpshooting sim Sniper Elite, teaming with 505 Games to publish the title. Like the original, Sniper Elite V2 will put players in the combat boots of a skilled marksman during World War II, as seen in the concept art above. If you've seen Enemy at the Gates, you have a good idea of what's in store ... only with (much) less Jude Law, we suspect. Waiting patiently is something snipers know a lot about, and it's something you'll have to do for this game -- it's pegged for release in 2012.
