Video: Using Xbox Controller for Live Search Maps We'll be starting to think about abandoning our mice altogether if things get as simple as this video makes them seem. Using the Xbox 360 Controller and optionally the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows (good grief that's a mouthful), you can whiz in and out of Virtual Earth just like Hiro Protagonist in 'Snow Crash'.It's like using the controller and turning the whole planet into one giant version of Flight Simulator. We knew that game would come back in a big way sooner or later. Next stop, Virtual Solar System.
360 controller cameo in Windows Live Local service
An Xbox 360 controller (of the wireless distinction) is visible on the dashboard of the car in Microsoft's new street-level Windows Live Local, a part of their Virtual Earth service. The controller doesn't appear to do anything except sit there, dutifully building brand awareness. If the interface wasn't as simplistic as Myst's--but slower--being able to use your 360 controller to virtually drive around a city would be pretty cool. For now, I'll put it into walk mode and ditch the whole silly driving interface.[Thanks, Alex]
