It's that time of the week again. You ask a question, then we answer it. It's a fun exchange, but sometimes we wonder what would happen if we switched shoes? Say, we ask you all questions and then you answer back? Does that sound like fun? Maybe -- maybe not. Maybe that's what we'll do sometime soon. Just for kicks. Anyway, here's this week's column. Enjoy.Keep checking back every weekend -- we'll be sure to answer all intelligent, fun, and relevant questions that you may have. If you haven't asked us anything yet ... why haven't you? Welcome to Ask PS3 Fanboy: Volume 2: The bad news edition! Today I disappoint people on a variety of topics, including Eight Days and 720p game upscaling. Read on to have your hopes crushed! And as always, you can e-mail me with your questions and comments, and I'll do my best to answer your questions during next week's column.Q: I've read in the manual for PS3 that EDY viewer is only available on PS3 systems sold in Japan. Is their any way of using this system on American PS3 units?A: No, unfortunately the EDY integration is something that's limited to only Japanese systems right now. And since the EDY system is purely a Japanese service, it's unlikely that this will change any time soon. If the service is ever rolled out to Europe and America, like originally planned, than maybe we'll see our PS3s updated -- but thats a pretty big if. Q: What is going on with Eight Days?A: Eight Days was one of the most impressive titles shown at last year's Sony E3 event, but has completely fallen off the radar since then. Earlier this year there was rumor swirling around that it was going to be turned into an episodic game, with each day consisting of one episode, but it turned out this was just a case of mistaken identity. The rumor actually applied to a point-and-click adventure title for the PC, called 8 Days. Overall, I'm pretty skeptical of the game actually coming out though. The complete lack of information for over a year is never good and the trailer was pretty clearly a mock-up. Info may come out at next month's E3 -- but if it doesn't, there's a very strong possibility that this game DOA. Hit the jump for the last e-mail!

Welcome to the inaugural addition of Ask PS3 Fanboy, the feature where we do our very best to answer your pressing questions. Don't be shy! You can e-mail me anytime at colin.torretta@weblogsinc.com and we'll put your question in the running for our next Ask PS3 Fanboy segment. Sorry for the initial delay, but this will be a weekly special ever Sunday -- so ask away!Q: Is there an effect solution for playing Guitar Hero on the PS3?A: There is currently no device that offers a 100% support for Guitar Hero 1 and 2, though Pelican has recently released an adapter that provides maybe 70-80% compatability. According to reviews, the adapter works flawless on Guitar Hero but has some issues on its sequel. Unfortunately, you cannot do hammer-ons or pull-offs in Guitar Hero 2 while using the adapter -- making it more or less impossible to play the harder difficult levels of the game. You don't really need to do hammer-ons or pull-offs for the earlier levels so it's not a complete deal killer but definitely annoying. Also, while the Pelican adapter supports Dualshock controllers, it doesn't support rumble at all which is a bit of a bummer. Q: Have you heard anything about Afrika recently?A: Very little has been heard about Afrika since it was announced, though three months ago Phil Harrison did mention it briefly in an interview with British gaming site Pro-G. He didn't get into specifics, but did say that he's seen the game and that it's coming along nicely. Unfortunately, he was being very coy about the whole thing so there wasn't a lot to get out of the interview. As for release date, the last time Sony talked about the release date of Afrika, they were saying it will still be coming out in 2007. I think it would be a safe bet that we'll get another taste of Afrika come the mini-E3 next month -- but don't expect an avalanche of info. According to my completely unscientific guesstimates, I'd say TGS '07 will be the big unveiling with a 2008 launch.More questions after the jump!

We have been inspired by our brother site, PSP Fanboy, and have decided to start up a new weekly feature on our site titled 'Ask PS3 Fanboy.' As we've gotten bigger and bigger, it's been harder to address questions e-mailed to us directly. We really want to help out our readers, so to help us resolve this problem, every week we will sort through our plethora of e-mailed questions and pick out a couple of the best (or most common) e-mails to respond to. So let us know if you have any thoughts/questions about Sony and the PlayStation 3. Do you have a question about the new RGB [Full] option added in the 1.80 firmware update? Curious about the most recent silly MGS 4 rumors? Want to know whether to get a puppy or a kitty? Drop me a line at colin.torretta@weblogsinc.com and we'll do our best to clear up any confusion you may have! And remember to tune in this Sunday (June 9th) for the inaugural addition of 'Ask PS3 Fanboy.'
