This week's UK charts feature a very familiar face at the summt. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the country's best-selling game of last year, is back on top for the first time in 2013 thanks to a 20 percent bump in sales from the previous week. It ain't done yet, nosiree.Despite it being a relatively quiet January - Ni No Kuni doesn't arrive in Europe until February 1 - DmC: Devil May Cry wasn't able to retain top spot this week. Ninja Theory's reboot fell from grace to No. 4 after a 64 percent drop in sales. Meanwhile, Assassin's Creed 3 went on a climb up to No. 5, ascending on the back of promotional discounts.Otherwise it's the same ten games doing the limbo, lazily relaxing backs and limply looking over shoulders as they wait for the big hitters of February and March to take to the dance floor. You can boogie on past the break for the UK top ten.

The All Pakistan CD, DVD, Audio Cassette Traders and Manufacturers Association banned Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter in Pakistan, claiming that the games depicted Pakistan in a bad light. All stores were ordered to remove the games from their shelves, or face the consequences."The Association has always boycotted these types of films and games," the Association wrote in a notice translated by Fox News. "These (games) have been developed against the country's national unity and sanctity. The games (Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2) have been developed against Pakistan, and the Association has completely banned their sale. Shopkeepers are warned and will be responsible for the consequences if found purchasing or selling these games."President of the Association, Saleem Memon, further explained the ban when speaking to a foreign media outlet: "The problem is that there are things that are against Pakistan and they have included criticism of our army. They show the country in a very poor light."The owner of Pakistan capital Islamabad's largest retail game store said that he hadn't heard about the ban and that both games were "hot sellers." Black Ops 2 sold more than 5,000 copies since its launch and Warfighter sold 1,000 in Pakistan, the owner said. Pirated versions of both games were still available in Pakistan, some selling for less than $2, and these figures didn't contribute to official sales numbers.

Capcom's DmC: Devil May Cry flies on the wings of angels and demons to debut at the top spot on Chart-Track's UK sales chart. The reboot, developed by Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword), sold just over a third of what Devil May Cry 4 had when it comboed the number one spot in 2008.The rest of the chart is full of the regular suspects, with FIFA 13 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 sliding down to second and third, respectively, to make room for the Capcom brawler. DmC was the only new release to chart in the top 40 last week. Stylishly swing past the break for the UK top ten.

Update: Activision has released an official trailer for the DLC pack, confirming much of the information originally posted below, such as its release date on the Xbox 360 and what each new map is like. Furthermore, the above trailer also reveals "Turned," a new zombie mode wherein players become zombies themselves, and the Peacekeeper, an SMG/assault rifle hybrid.'Revolution' DLC for Call of Duty Black Ops 2 is reportedly coming to PS3 and PC a month after it arrives on Xbox 360. That's according to a Facebook post by UK retailer HMV, as spotted by MP1ST, which says the first DLC pack comes to Xbox on January 29 and then to PS3 and PC on February 28. The dates are somewhat substantiated by an Amazon UK listing which says the DLC is coming to Xbox on January 29, but doesn't mention dates for PS3 or PC. Both listings say the DLC costs 1200 MSP, and is free to Season Pass holders.A leaked promotional image first indicated the DLC, its January 29 release date, and the inclusion of five new maps. The two retailers substantiate this info, and also note a new weapon in the DLC, the Peacekeeper SMG. The Amazon listing details the five maps as: Hydro: This large map allows you to use the dam and water to your advantage to block paths and stop enemies. Downhill: A medium-sized map based in the French Alps complete with snow, chair lifts, and a strategically placed lodge. Grind: Set within the locale of the Venice, California boardwalk, this small skate park map is sure to deliver fast and frenetic Call of Duty action. Mirage: This Gobi Desert multiplayer map utilises sand dunes to provide different levels of elevation and a sanctuary in the centre as a natural chokepoint. Zombies - Die Rise: The Zombie apocalypse has invaded China, turning downtown into a dilapidated and dangerous MC Escher painting. We've reached out to Activision for comment.

Just Dance 4 is currently in seventh.New games entering the top 40 (thanks to discounts) are Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition at No. 25 and Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package at 40. In the battle of soccer versus guns, guns win. At least, that's the case in the UK, where Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 managed to claim the title of best-selling game of 2012, according to Chart-Track. FIFA 13, the latest edition of the reliable sales powerhouse, managed to clock in at number 2. The top five was rounded out by Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4 and Hitman: Absolution, respectively. As MCV points out, all five of 2012's best sellers were released in either November or December, meaning they accrued their impressive sales in less than two months on the market.Other notable titles included Far Cry 3 at number 7, Borderlands 2 at 10, Mass Effect 3 at 11, Need for Speed: Most Wanted at 13, Max Payne 3 at 19 and Sleeping Dogs at 20.

An image promoting map pack DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 recently popped up on Reddit, called "Revolution." • Black Ops 2 reigns for sixth week in UK to capture Xmas No 1 spot

    12.24.2012

Let's face it, it was going to take a Christmas miracle to knock Call of Duty Black Ops 2 off the festive top spot in the UK charts. Despite a valiant but not quite miraculous effort from Far Cry 3, which saw an 86 percent rise in sales on the back of meaty holiday discounts, the latest CoD ruled the roost once more to become this year's Xmas No 1, as well as the only game to top the UK charts for six weeks in a row in 2012.That near-doubling of Far Cry 3 sales helped the open-world shooter leap over Hitman: Absolution into second place. Otherwise it's much as you were for the UK's penultimate sales week, with the same collection of top ten games playing a very restrained, possibly hungover version of Musical Chairs. You can find the UK top ten snoring loudly on the couch after the break.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has matched Lego Batman 2's 2012 streak of five weeks in the top spot of Chart-Track's UK sales rankings. Black Ops 2 sales were actually up 14 percent last week, so it'll likely make that sixth week from a vantage point, unless FIFA 13 rallies. FIFA games typically get a boost right at Christmas week and after New Year's.The rest of the UK top ten relatively remained in their same spots as last week, with the exception of Hitman: Absolution, which moved up four spots and into second place. Agent 47 had price promotions in the region to thank for his sudden ascension. The UK top ten can be found after the break.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has now held the top spot on the UK charts for four consecutive weeks, joining FIFA 12, FIFA 13 and Lego Batman 2, which have all accomplished the same feat in 2012. Branding, branding, branding!Far Cry 3's strong reviews haven't hurt it any, as the shooter (and best advertisement for kidnap and ransom insurance ever) slipped 8 percent in sales but maintained second place. And, as we warned everyone a while back, the insidious Just Dance 4 continues its creep. This week the danceathon's sales are up 54 percent and it moves up two spots into fourth place. Keep your eyes on it. Without vigilance, it will take the top spot early in the new year. Find the UK top ten, and that shark skin you need for a new wallet, after the break.
