NintendoWare Weekly: Adventure Island: The Beginning, Bubble Bobble Plus!, another clock
Another strange week for DSiWare arrives, as Photo Clock appears on the store, doing little more than charging two dollars for limited functionality additions to the DSi. If you were looking for a good alarm for the DSi, this could be your week! Thankfully, American Popstar: Road to Celebrity is picking up the slack and ... wait, American Popstar? What?! Forget it, DSi! We're sticking with the Wii and snagging the remake of an 8-bit classic in Adventure Island: The Beginning instead. As always, jump past the break for all the messy details.%Gallery-64114%
VC Friday: Sonic Clayos
There's a decent surprise for Europe today on the Virtual Console: the Mega Drive version of Clay Fighter, whose title is a 100% accurate description of the game. It's a fighting game whose characters are made of clay! It accurately parodies the attitude and "edginess" of Mortal Kombat with goofy Claymation characters, and happens to be entirely playable on top of that. The other Mega Drive release is the Master System Sonic Chaos. While it wasn't exactly lauded upon release in the US this week, it's even less noteworthy in Europe: while we never got the Master System version of the game (only the Game Gear one), Europe did, so it's totally not special. Clay Fighter -- Mega Drive -- 800 Wii Points Sonic Chaos -- Master System -- 500 Wii Points Footage of both games is available after the break.
GameTap Thursday: ClayFighter and Aveyond
This week GameTap adds some new titles that might be worth trying after you've gotten through the last few weeks of excellent additions to the service. Aveyond (Windows) - The sequel to this RPG, Aveyond 2: Ean's Quest, will join the service in two weeks. ClayFighter (Windows) - The ubiquitous fighter genre in the '90s took a considerably strange turn with the addition of this title. Once again, GameTap doesn't add any new free games this week, but there's still plenty to check out in the list after the break.
