Free-to-play, Vita-only strategy RPG Destiny of Spirits launches on March 25 in the US, with other regions launching "around the same time," SCEA Producer Kumi Yuasa writes on the PlayStation Blog. In Destiny of Spirits, players collect hordes of upgradable spirits to battle other groups in turn-based battles. Destiny of Spirits is location-based with social aspects that allow players to make friends and swap spirits. Each region gets a different set of creatures, and trading is the only way to snag those area-specific ones. The beta for Destiny of Spirits led the team to reduce load time, and increase gameplay speed, spirit levels and spirit slots, so the beasties can progress more and players can hold more of them.

Dark Souls fans in Europe can prepare to die a little sooner than anticipated, as a free beta version of Dark Souls 2 will be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers this Sunday. Publisher Namco Bandai plans to host a server stress test for Dark Souls 2 on October 27, between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM GMT. Sony recommends players download the beta client beforehand, as the beta will not be playable outside of the three-hour period on Sunday. PlayStation Vita owners are eligible for another beta test taking place this week, as a pre-release version of Q Entertainment's monster-collecting RPG Destiny of Spirits will be available from October 24 through November 1 for PlayStation Plus members. The beta version of Destiny of Spirits will be open to players worldwide. A North American beta test for Dark Souls 2 has not been announced.

Q Entertainment's monster-collecting Vita game Destiny of Spirits will enter a beta test phase on October 24. The free-to-play RPG has players engaging in turn-based combat with their upgradable minions, which players can trade or lend to others. The game encourages players to bring their Vitas with them while traveling, as the system's location-tracking tech is used to unlock spirits with every trip. The global beta program, which allows players to collect every spirit and access every location in the Destiny of Spirits, will end November 1.

SCE Japan Studio and Lumines developer Q Entertainment are teaming up to deliver the free-to-play RPG Destiny of Spirits to PS Vita owners later this year. In Destiny of Spirits, players command an army of upgradable creatures in a series of turn-based battles. Spirit types are assigned elemental strengths and weaknesses, and players must build their teams strategically in order to penetrate enemy defenses. It's all a bit Pokemon-ish, in other words, though gameplay seems to focus exclusively on combat. Destiny of Spirits also lets players trade spirits with friends, and daily "blessings" can boost the power of certain unit types in battle. Destiny of Spirits will hit the PlayStation Network in 2013. %Gallery-191362%

Some rumors recently started circulating regarding Bungie's upcoming title, Destiny, and the PlayStation Vita. Bungie confirmed that these rumors are false and that Destiny will not be revealed on the PlayStation Vita (despite some previous vague hints to the contrary in the preorder page's source code). The rumors started after the release of an image that hinted at a Bungie game coming to PS Vita in 2014 called Destiny of Spirits. Given that Sony trademarked the name Destiny of Spirits, something may still be afoot there. Destiny officially launches for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation4 some time next year.
