All a-board Dungeon Twister on PSN this July
Dungeon Twister, Hydravision's board-game-turned-turn-based-strategy title, will come to PSN on July 3 for $10. Dungeon Twister creator Christophe Boelinger says the board game itself has been described as a mix between chess and Dungeons & Dragons. Players control a team of eight characters, each with powers ranging from walking through walls, rotating rooms in any direction, to regenerating when wounded, to escape a massive labyrinth.Dungeon Twister is an online multiplayer title that allows players to see and talk to each other via the PlayStation Eye.

Kind of a turn-based strategy game, kind of a board game, Hydravision's upcoming PS3 download release Dungeon Twister is loaded with instability – as a feature, not a bug. Two players control teams of eight adventurers, each with different abilities, and try to capture areas of a maze-like dungeon. It's based on a board game (but not the Twister we normally associate with board games, which could theoretically be played in a dungeon).Upon seizing control of a segment, players can then rotate the area, opening new avenues for themselves and confounding their opponents (or leading directly into traps). The goal is either to escape or defeat your opponent.Dungeon Twister will take turns on PSN this summer.

French board game Dungeon Twister will be joining the Xbox Live Arcade catalog of tabletop games gone digital, with Asmodée and Hydravision's announcement that the game's XBLA release will happen in Q3 2009.The best way to describe Dungeon Twister is as a mix of monsters, magic and strategy. It's a game where you escape a dungeon and, well ... that's basically what you do. It's probably best that you read up on the backstory and (twisted) rules for yourself (PDF). You'll also be pleased to know that there's a library of game expansions, so downloadable content should be plentiful.
