Final Fantasy Agito is coming to Vita in Japan as a free game called Final Fantasy Agito+, due out on January 15, 2015. A new trailer details the Vita game, with information translated by Final Fantasy Union. Final Fantasy Agito+ contains the content in the original mobile RPG launched in May in Japan. The new game will be available digitally for free or at retail for 3,800 yen ($35). There's no word on a western release of Final Fantasy Agito+ or its original counterpart for iOS and Android. Mobile RPG Final Fantasy Agito will be localized, Square Enix recently revealed. Speaking with USGamer at the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix's Hajime Tabata said the game "will definitely be localized." He quickly clarified that while the game will be translated to other languages, that doesn't guarantee its release in North America. A trademark for Final Fantasy Agito was recently filed in Europe, so some hope for a full localization exists. Final Fantasy Agito will launch as a free-to-play iOS and Android game in Japan this Winter. The game is set in the world realized by Final Fantasy Type-0, a Japan-exclusive PSP game, and offers equipment obtained via microtransactions.

Final Fantasy Agito's extensive stay in development hell is coming to an end this winter in Japan, but Square Enix recently filed a trademark for "Final Fantasy Agito" in Europe as well. The application is currently "under examination," but considering how trademarks sometimes into real things, Agito might have a chance at reaching European mobiles. You can see the trademark for yourself by searching for "Final Fantasy Agito" at the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market's website. The game's recent teaser trailer offers a glimpse at characters and battles within the universe of the Japan-exclusive Final Fantasy Type-0. Agito will be free-to-play once it finally summons itself to iOS and Android devices in Japan.

This teaser trailer for Final Fantasy Agito doesn't give much away, so best to refresh what we do know about the mobile RPG: Agito is free-to-play, coming to iOS and Android this winter in Japan, and is set in the world of Japan-only PSP entry FF Type-0. One thing this trailer reiterates, though, is the lack of news on Agito coming west. Type-0 famously stayed Japan-exclusive, so we have our doubts Agito will cross the ocean. On the other hand, major mobile FF games do tend to get localized, so perhaps there's hope.

Square Enix detailed its upcoming mobile RPG Final Fantasy Agito in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine, revealing that it will be released as a free-to-play app for iOS and Android in Japan this winter. Set in the world of the Japan-exclusive PSP game Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy Agito casts players in the role of a customizable main character who can be outfitted with items purchased via microtransactions. Agito's storyline will feature multiple branching paths, and alternate story routes can be explored after each playthrough. Famitsu reports that playtime will be divided between "solo play" and "team play" phases. Players will tackle missions based around individual characters in the game's solo component, while Agito's cast will assemble to battle bosses during team play segments. A North American release for Final Fantasy Agito has not been announced.

Square Enix's "Fabula Nova Crystallis" returns from the abyss, once again, with the company's recent trademark registration of Final Fantasy Agito. Gematsu took note of the registration – or re-registration depending on your perspective – of the trademark with the similar name to the game once known as Final Fantasy Agito XIII, which eventually launched in Japan as Final Fantasy Type-0 in 2011 on PSP. Whispers of a western release for Type-0 have been around for two years, but never really went anywhere. All we know for certain is that Square Enix Presents is scheduled for E3 and some Final Fantasy news is planned... because there's always Final Fantasy news planned. Always.
