Taikodom pops into open beta
Are you itching for some fast-and-furious space warfare? Missing your fix after Black Prophecy shutdown? Then you're prime to experience Taikodom: Living Universe, which has leaped into open beta. The sci-fi shooter is now being distributed through GamersFirst. Reloaded Games' CMO Rahul Sandil says he's "stoked" to include Taikodom into the company's roster and promises dozens of additional titles in the coming year. Taikodom is also offering three founder's packages. These packages range from $9 to $49 and include benefits such as in-game items, unique achievements, and lifetime VIP status. Firefall Fest schedules celebrity livestreams
If you're missing one of your favorite celebrities next week, you might want to check with Red 5 Studios. The makers of Firefall have kidnapped, er, enticed several popular stars to check out the game via an interactive livestreaming event called Firefall Fest. Among the celebs participating are Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion. Red 5 has posted the schedule for the livestreams, which start on October 22nd and continue through the 27th. In addition to letting you hear what your favorite star or group has to say about the game and seeing said game in action, Red 5 is handing out daily prizes to viewers. The studio also announced that any player who purchases a Firefall Founders Pack during this week will get immediate beta access, and all founders get snag additional in-game items just by watching.
RaiderZ stress test kicks off today
While the open beta for RaiderZ has yet to grace our fair computers, you can still get in and give this action MMO a try today. Perfect World Entertainment announced that it's running a stress test for the title this weekend, and everyone with a PWE account is invited to come play. The stress test begins tonight at 7:00 p.m. EDT and continues through Monday the 15th at 8:00 p.m. EDT. The company is encouraging players to crush the server so as to make it more stable come launch. It also is promising special awards and fun events over the course of the weekend. Following the stress test, RaiderZ heads into open beta on October 24th. The studio is pushing for players to plunk down a few bucks to secure a Founder's Pack. The deal includes an exclusive mount and closed beta access to Cryptic's Neverwinter.
Firefall reveals founder's packages, special deals available at PAX
Earlier today Red 5 Studios posted a portion of its Firefall monetization model on the game's official website. While we've heard a lot about combat revamps and various other gameplay details in recent weeks, one thing we've never really known is how the sci-fi shooter will sell itself. This week's PAX convention will see the studio begin selling its founder's packages, complete with special attendee discounts. The packages start at $15 and offer an assortment of "convenience and cosmetic items." MechWarrior Online developer blog discusses beta stages and launching
The term "open beta" has kind of been kicked around in the world of free-to-play MMOs, with several games entering open beta and essentially remaining there for eternity. MechWarrior Online's latest developer blog leads off by describing this problem, pointing out that terms like "launch" and "beta" don't have the same meaning when applied to a free-to-play game. But the game is still progressing toward open testing and a launched state, and the timeline for both is outlined in the blog. Starting on August 7th, all Founders will have full access to the closed beta, complete with currency to purchase items. All funds spent on purchasing items during closed beta will be refunded with each major patch and refunded again when the game switches to open beta. If you still haven't quite grabbed the Founder's Package yet, you've still got some time, as the package is being extended past the initial cut-off date of August 7th. MechWarrior Online introduces the Jenner
What good's a battlemech without jumpjets on its legs and a whole bunch of exclusives on the side? Meet the Jenner, a light-armor battlemech that comes as part of the legendary founders package for MechWarrior Online. The MWO early closed beta access, which is bundled into every founders package, starts soon, which makes this the perfect time for the Jenner to strut its stuff. The Jenner mech is based on speed, with a top speed of 118 km/h and jumpjets to add it its maneuverability.With a short range missile and four medium lasers, it's a mech designed to get into the fight, rip its enemies apart, and get away quickly. MechWarrior Online founder's packages detailed
If you've got your heart set on MechWarrior Online, today is a good day for you! The founder's program goes on sale today, with an additional tier of awesomeness available. The new $120 legendary tier comes with a three-month premium MechWarrior Online account. Additionally, you'll get four founder's BattleMechs, $80 worth of in-game currency, a founder's tag for extra status boosting, game credits, and early access starting August 7th. The $60 elite package has the same tags, in-game currency, and early access as the Legendary tier, but only two months of premium account access and one BattleMech. If you're not worried about frills, the $40 veteran package will get you $40 worth of in-game currency, one month of premium status, founder's tags, and early access.
