Did you know hunters are just awesome? If you didn't, you may want to check out today's video. The song is a collaboration by many notable members of the hunter community, organized by WoW Insider's Brian Wood, also known as Frostheim of the Warcraft Hunters Union and the Hunting Party Podcast. The video isn't too complex, but the song should warm the hearts of our many hunter readers out there, and remind them how awesome their class is. It may also make the rest of us envious that our own communities don't have multiple theme songs (I guess rogues do, actually). This collaboration is two years in the making. I remember at WoW Insider's BlizzCon 2012 party, Frostheim ran up to me with a big grin on his face and said he'd just recorded one of our notable guests (Aron Eisenburg? Felicia Day, perhaps?) saying, "hunters are just awesome!" To find out who it was, check out the video. Oh, and don't forget to heal hunter pets!

  • WHU is Frostheim and why did we recover his cloak?

Every now and again, we'll run a 15 Minutes of Fame interview with someone whose WoW personality simply overflows the standard interview format. In those cases, we have to resort to crazy bullet-point summaries before the break in order to have any hope of conveying the sheer reach of their awesomesauce. You'll undoubtedly recognize our subject from the pages of WoW Insider, yet his influence is felt far beyond its borders. It's true what they say: Sometimes the strongest, most potent things come in small (read: dwarf-sized) packages. Who: Brian Wood, aka Frostheim, Grandpappy Frostheim What: Dwarven hunter; blogger at Warcraft Hunters Union and WoW Insider; guild master of the massive, all-hunter Icecrown (US) guild Warcraft Hunters Union (WHU), recently responsible for the first all-hunter kill of a Cataclysm boss; podcaster with the Hunting Party Podcast; founder of the WoW Hunters Hall community portal; and eponym of the Recovered Cloak of Frostheim When: Since 2005 Where: Icecrown (US-Alliance) Why: Purportedly, being an "uncommonly good-looking hunter" has something to do with it. How: Follow us past the break to find out!

  • WoW Moviewatch: Grandpappy Frostheim & the Mad Elf

This video was Frostheim's entry into the BlizzCon 2011 machinima contest; it's the story of Grandpappy Frostheim & The Mad Elf. It was created using some epic footage from WHU's guild events and the dialogue even includes the vocal talents of WoW Insider favorite, Michele Morrow. While this parable boils down to a single lesson, allow me to assure you that lesson is very real. Don't touch a Dwarf's beer. With Pandaren brewmasters soon to join the world of Azeroth, I expect Dwarves will welcome their hop-soaked brethren into the strictures of beer love. Put the two halves together and a properly fermented beverage will soar to new heights of sacredness. So mind what Frostheim tells you, or the might of the Dwarven armies might soon be on your own doorstep. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Today's video was an entry into the BlizzCon 2010 machinima contest. It features a song by Balthazar and our very own Frostheim. I Won't Miss You is obviously a hunter anthem, but even I was surprised at the musical talent put into the effort. It really is an amazing piece. I'll let Frostheim speak about about the creative process of the video itself, since I found his anecdote so amusing: This was shot mostly on the beta, with a few shots on the live server -- most notably the swarm of pirates, which was from the WHU baby hunter guild pirate event. Amusing story: During the scene of rocket-booting out of the Dalaran sewers, we had to have two rezzers on the ground beneath us, as one or both of us fell and died in most takes. It took about an hour to shoot that -- we kept missing in the air, or failing to dismount, etc. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Welcome to Scattered Shots, written by Frostheim of Warcraft Hunters Union and the Hunting Party Podcast. Each week, Frostheim uses logic and science (mixed with a few mugs of dwarven stout) to look deep into the hunter class. Got hunter questions? Feel free to email Frostheim. Today we're going to go on a journey, not of distance and miles, but a journey of the mind. Today I shall take you with me on a stream of consciousness trip through the Cataclysm beta. You will vicariously experience the first moments of the beta and leveling through Mount Hyjal. This, dear friends, is even better than a beta invite itself. Partially, yes, because you will get to skip over the grueling slogging through bugged quests, the endless searching for new pets to tame, the constant World Server Down messages -- all this, you'll experience in just a handful of words rather than living the hours of pain. Seriously, though, as you're reading, just imagine getting booted out every hour or so (sometimes a dozen times in an hour) and seeing World Server Down when you try to log back in. Oh, and this post contains spoilers. But, you know, it says Cataclysm beta in the title. When you see that, just always assume that there are spoilers, OK? OK.

  • WoW Moviewatch: I'm a Hunter

I'm a Hunter was created by Fruity Loops, Frostheim, and Mike Hallenbeck. The video was also made by Frostheim. When Frostheim dropped me a note about the video, he definitely seemed to think the overwhelming demand for a Hunter theme goes as far back as Big Blue Dress by Cranius. Whether or not I'm a Hunter stands up to being compared to that mage-themed masterpiece is up to each viewer. In my opinion, though, the song is still pretty catchy and amusing. The video does a great job of illustrating the facets of hunter life, as well as getting in some chuckles along the way. There's a lot of little loving touches that clearly shows the creators' love of the class, and I think it's suitable homage to the gun and bow toting crowd. Thanks to Frostheim for the heads up, and congratulations on a fun song. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch!
