NBA 2K13 is available as a digital title on Xbox 360, via Games on Demand. NBA 2K13 launched on Games on Demand way back on December 28, 2012, and perhaps by now you've cleared some of your backlog to give this one a go.NBA 2K13 launched at retail for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Wii U earlier in 2012, with mobile releases on PSP, Android and iOS devices, and a PC version as well. We find the console version "has little sizzle to go along with its scrumptious steak," which is a perfectly logical analogy for a game about sports. Really.

Today's daily deal on Xbox Live includes sales on six games as part of a "family games" theme. Two XBLA games, Crazy Taxi and The Splatters, can be downloaded for 200 Microsoft points each today, a 75 percent savings on their original 800 point prices. The other six games come straight from the Games on Demand section, and include Toy Story 3 and Crash of the Titans for $9.99, half off from the original $20 price for either game. Cars 2 is $19.99 today, while Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is $9.99, both 33 percent off. The Xbox Live Countdown to 2013 promotion will keep rolling with sales for the next few days, so these deals are only good for today.

"Game of the Year" contender Borderlands 2 is blasting off 33 percent of its Games on Demand price today, the game going for $39.99 as part of Xbox Live's Countdown to 2013 sale. Today's deal also has the Season Pass for Gearbox's shooter sequel down by 25 percent at 1800 MSP, while the original Borderlands takes a half-price tumble to $9.99.Last week Gearbox revealed the third Borderlands 2 DLC campaign, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, is due on January 15. If you've been thinking about getting the Season Pass then now's a good time to get on board, because today's discount means you'd get the four DLC campaigns it grants access to, including Big Game Hunt, for almost half the price of buying them separately on Xbox Live.

If players across the world kill a collective 15 million zombies, they're eligible to unlock one costume from the set seen above. No word on which costume will be the first award, but future online events will be announced on the Resident Evil site, so perhaps a bookmark is in order.Capcom has also added Resident Evil 6 to the Games on Demand section of Xbox Live Marketplace. The Xbox 360 download weighs in at 7.57GB and will set you back $39.99, the current price of Resident Evil 6 at retail.

We're huge fans of the convenience of digital distribution – why trek out to the store like some caveman to buy a plastic disc when we could simply download a game through the innernette? Rockstar is trying to make a case for downloading by discounting four of its top games through Xbox Live's Games on Demand service. For today only, you can download LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 and Midnight Club: LA for 33% off each – that comes out to $20 for LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption, $40 for Max Payne 3 and $10 for Midnight Club: LA. All of the games save for Max Payne 3 are going for more than their Games on Demand sale price on Amazon right now.Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention three of these games are included in Rockstar Games Collection 1. The only game not included is Max Payne 3, but that's fine because Max just loves being the black sheep of the family.

We'll bet even Theresa didn't see this one coming. The downloadable version of Fable 2 has been removed from Xbox Live Marketplace, both via Xbox.com or the console itself. The news comes courtesy of a GameSpot tipster, and we have confirmed that Fable 2 has been pulled from Xbox Live in both its episodic and Games on Demand forms. Associated Fable 2 content, including DLC, trailers and avatar items, is still available for download. Furthermore, both the original Fable and Fable 3 remain available to download. We've put word into Microsoft to see what's up. It's too early to be certain, but we suspect Hobbes were involved.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is entering PC airspace early next year in Europe. The 2011 flight combat sim is firing down on retailers and on Steam and Games for Windows Marketplace in Q1 2013, priced at €29.99. Publisher Namco Bandai says the new port has PC-optimized graphics and controls, features "many" of the DLC goodies made available on PS3 and Xbox 360, and grants instant access to additional aircrafts, aircraft skins, skills, and maps. We've reached out to Namco Bandai to confirm a North American release. Assault Horizon is also docking on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Games on Demand this year, tomorrow (Nov. 28) and December 18 respectively in Europe, and comes to North America's PSN via today's update. Stand-alone versions on both platforms cost €19.99, but PSN also gets an 'Advanced Edition' which bundles in Tokyo and Honolulu maps as well as a fleet of extra aircraft, including the ASF-X Shinden II, F-15S/MTD, Su-37 Terminator, AV-8B Harrier II plus, CFA-44 Nosferatu , and Ka-50 Hokum. The Advanced Edition jets in at €29.99. Update: Namco Bandai confirmed the releases for North America. As in Europe, Assault Horizon is coming to PC in Q1 2013, and to Games on Demand on December 18.

In case you've not noticed it dozing on retail shelves, Sleeping Dogs is now grabbing 40 winks on Xbox Live's Games on Demand, and (Square Enix hopes) $44.99 from your wallet.Back when Xav dissected it in August, the action-adventure's seedy underbelly didn't exactly strike him as brimming with originality. He doled out three and a half stars in his review, saying that while it's a good game, "Sleeping Dogs mostly leaves you remembering the media that inspired it and probably won't remain in your thoughts over time."

Xbox Live is celebrating the holiday shopping season now through Monday, November 26 with a series of deals on downloadable games and extra content. Remember, celebrating the "holiday shopping season" is very different than celebrating the "holiday season" in the physical world, in that it involves more running people over, less sleep and more blind greed. Staying in to download some games for cheap is probably your best bet anyway.Xbox Live has Dead Island, Gunstringer, Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2 for $20 each via Games on Demand ($10 off). Everything else is half off, including Darksiders 2 Argul's Tomb DLC and Death Rides Pack for 280 MS Points each, Magic 2013 for 400 MS Points and an expansion for 200 MS Points, Rock Band Blitz for 600 MS Points, Sleeping Dogs DLC for 120 MS Points and Spelunky for 600 MS Points. There's more on the complete list below, provided by Major Nelson. If you do want to venture out into the wild this weekend, Microsoft previously listed some noteworthy retail Xbox 360 Black Friday deals.

    11.14.2012

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be available digitally through the European PlayStation Network next Wednesday, November 21, thus fulfilling a need for PS3 owners on the not-America side of the planet who require both game-purchasing convenience and a bear with which to punch a dinosaur. Similarly, the game will also be available on Xbox Live Games on Demand sometime in late December.A digital version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition will be making its way to the Wii U eShop at some point during the new console's "launch window," which Nintendo has said will last until March of next year. If you do plan on downloading TTT2WUE, though, make sure to buy an external storage device of some kind. As we learned last month, the game won't even fit in the basic model's built-in memory.

  • X-Men: Destiny destined for unsure lifespan on Games on Demand

    11.13.2012

X-Men: Destiny is available from today on Xbox Live Marketplace as part of the Games on Demand program, priced at $39.99. That's despite Silicon Knights being ordered by the US court to recall and destroy all unsold copies of its products using Unreal Engine 3, of which X-Men: Destiny is one. The company was also ordered to cease producing and distributing games using Epic's technology. So what exactly's going on here? Well, the ruling in the Silicon Knights vs. Epic Games case dictates Silicon Knights notifies the US court by December 21 of its compliance with the injunctions ordered. This is presumably to give Silicon Knights adequate time to carry out the required actions; recalling and destroying every unsold copy of X-Men: Destiny and Too Human. So the game newly appearing on XBLM might not contravene the injunctions, at least for now. It should also be noted that Too Human is also currently available on XBLM, while GameStop, Target, and Best Buy all have new copies of X-Men: Destiny listed as available.

Atlus and Arc System Works' Persona 4 Arena is now available on Xbox Live Games on Demand for a whole $60, which is $20 more than the physical version costs on Amazon. So, if you're wanting to get hella immersed in the intricacies of inter-personal television doppelganger relationship fighting, you need to ask yourself whether you'd rather have said experience immediately, or if you'd rather spend that $20 difference on DLC costume colors and adorable glasses. The choice is yours alone to make; just know that Chie looks pretty fly in her bookish frames.

Yes, a Silent Hill game has been patched on Xbox 360. No, it's not that one. Instead, Downpour has been updated to improve the framerate, "fix" the save system, and eliminate bugs in the "Homeless" mission, among other unspecified fixes. The patch will be released on PS3 "in the coming weeks."The Xbox patch comes just in time for a Games on Demand release of Downpour. It'll be downloadable for Xbox 360 on October 30 for $39.99.

Xbox 360 users will find two new games available under the Games on Demand section of Xbox Live. Capcom has announced Slant Six's shooter Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is available for download on Xbox Live alongside cross-over fighter Street Fighter X Tekken. Each will set you back $39.99 in the United States.Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City wasn't in the best shape when we reviewed it, but a patch issued back in June may have alleviated some of our issues. And as far as Street Fighter X Tekken goes, that thing's been patched up, down and sideways, and Capcom is promising a "hefty update" later on this year. There's also a new mobile version of Street Fighter X Tekken on iOS now, if you're more for fighting on the bus, train or – well, everywhere we guess since you won't stop staring at your iPhone.

That's if you don't already have Metro 2033, because THQ is cutting the 2010 cult hit down to half-price on Xbox Live, starting tomorrow. The publisher tells us the novel adaptation will be available on Games on Demand for $9.99 until Monday, October 22.If you missed the recent Steam sale (or if you'd prefer the game on Xbox) then this isn't a bad consolation offer for a tense shooter we handed four out of five stars to. Digital Reality's super-serious shooter Sine Mora arrives on XBLA this week, along with Rayman 3 HD, starring a character with unrealistic digits. Those will be here tomorrow; meanwhile, today on Games on Demand, you can get Deus Ex Human Revolution (a game about augmented-reality digits) and Kinect Sports. But we suggest hanging on to your Microsoft Points, as the service will host some kind of "Games on Demand Sale" next week, starting March 27. This week, it's half off "certain" THQ content and BioShock 2 DLC.DLC for existing retail games includes Operation Raccoon City's exclusive "Nemesis Mode," Kingdoms of Amalur's "Legend of Dead Kel," and -- oh yeah -- the first Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Collection.

Square Enix is holding a sale this week on the Xbox Marketplace, taking half off DLC for Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Just Cause 2, along with discounts on several of Lady Croft's adventures and its associated DLC.The highlights of the sale are certainly the Deus Ex's Missing Link DLC and co-op adventure Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for 600 MSP ($7.50). There's also some attempted discounts on full downloads of Battlestations: Pacific, Just Cause 2 and Tomb Raider: Underworld; but chances are you can find better in your local bargain bin.Another game worth checking out is updated original Tomb Raider: Legend: Anniversary, available in two chunks at 400 MSP ($5) apiece (caveat is you'll need to own TR: Legend since it's the DLC). So, try the first two levels before you buy the whole thing. Find the full list of discounts after the break.
