Two Bosses Enter ... but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW.com's series of fantasy death matches. This season's combatants come from the original five-man instances of Wrath of the Lich King. Gortok Palehoof got the raw end of the deal inside the Two Bosses Thunderdome this week, as his one-minion-at-a-time strategy folded under the onslaught of Krik'thir the Gatewatcher's slice-and-dice minions. The outcome was decisive: 58 percent for the Nerubian, and only 36 percent for the Magnataur. Quite a few spectators thought the outcome would have been different if Palehoof had been allowed to deploy his entire collection at once – but alas, in keeping the fight structure reasonably close to what players experience, it was not to be. Vodkamartini: Dear WoW.com, I want to thank you for setting the rules in my favor. With my team able to take on my opponent's lackeys one at a time, it was a simple slaughter. I can't remember if it was the idiot furbolg or the worm (A WORM? WHO BRINGS THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOD CHAIN TO A FIGHT?) that aggroed the entire room, but it went quite quickly after that. Watcher Narjil believed the opposing group, with one attacking in hopes of the Watch Him Die achievement, while the rest stupidly stood there, too busy to contemplate imminent slaughter or arguing over who gets my Golden Limb Bands, may have been in what the humanoids call a "Leeroy Jenkins moment." It does not matter; they were foolish to come.

Two Bosses Enter ... but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW.com's series of fantasy death matches. This season's combatants come from the original five-man instances of Wrath of the Lich King. We've got adds here, people: it's Gortok Palehoof (Utgarde Pinnacle) versus Krik'thir the Gatewatcher (Azjol-Nerub). Gortok steps into the Thunderdome fresh from a resounding defeat of Lavanthor, while Krik'thir arrives after besting the Commander Stoutbeard/Kolurg from The Nexus. Let's review the ground rules: Assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and comparative overall damage output. New clarification: All of the competitors' abilities, including crowd control and other effects to which bosses are usually immune, work on their opponents. This deathmatch takes place in neutral territory, which shall in no way hinder either opponent from using his usual resources. Don't get caught up in gameplay mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter. Don't neglect style, story and scale. Let the doors open, and let the contestants come forward. As Dr. Dealgood would say: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls ... Dyin' time's here.

Two Bosses Enter ... but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW.com's series of fantasy death matches. Welcome to Round Two of the five-man Wrath of the Lich King season. Grab a seat, and let's get ready to rumble! Gortok Palehoof and his menagerie of stuffed death came alive on Lavanthor in this week's Two Bosses Enter Thunderdome. The puppy barked up just 29% of the reader vote under Palehoof and Company's onslaught. Rai calls it for the winning team:Rai: Both Gortok and Lavanthor are essentially fighting for their freedom, as that's the situation they are faced with when you fight them in their respective instances. This might be an important point. As long as Lavanthor is stronger than each individual minion of Gortok, he should have no problem killing them in any order, until Gortok himself enters the fray. By this point, Lavanthor will be injured. Lavanthor would create some more distance between the pair, and the battle would become a fire-spittin', spear-throwin' ranged showdown.Assuming the spears aren't fireproof, with some careful aim (who am I kidding? lava spat all over the place), a lot of them might not even reach Lavanthor. However, Gortok would have been using Withering Roar this entire time, so Lavanthor's health is getting lower and lower ...A stray spear works around the lava and hits Lavanthor between the eyes. The puppy is down, but it's very close. If Gortok is lucky, he won't die from his burn injuries.

Two Bosses Enter ... but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW.com's series of fantasy death matches. Welcome to Round Two of the five-man Wrath of the Lich King season. Grab a seat, and let's get ready to rumble! This week's Two Bosses Thunderdome is a fantastical menagerie: Gortok Palehoof and his Utgarde Pinnacle menagerie against Lavanthor of the Violet Hold. Palehoof and Company sailed through the gamut of Old Stratholme in their first-round matchup against the Infinite Corruptor (the Culling of Stratholme), while Lavanthor chewed up Moragg like a discarded chew toy in his own first-round match. Will this week's matchup offer a more challenging battle for each? The ground rules: Assume that the opponents along with their collected minions share similar levels, health pools and comparative overall damage output. This deathmatch takes place in neutral territory, which shall not hinder either boss from using his usual encounter abilities. All the usual minions will be available to each boss. Don't get caught up in gameplay mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter. Don't neglect style, story and scale. As Dr. Dealgood would say -- ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls ... Dyin' time's here.

Two Bosses Enter ... but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW Insider's series of fantasy death matches. This season's bosses come from the five-man instances of Wrath of the Lich King.Gortok Palehoof and his posse ran roughshod over the Infinite Corruptor in this week's Two Bosses Enter ... One Boss Leaves. Readers relished the opportunity to run an entire group of NPCs through Old Stratholme to meet up with the Dragonspawn at the end. "Remember, it's not just about which boss would win, it's about the race to the finish," commented Samedji. "Gortok and friends ... have to make it through eight waves of Undead, several waves of Dragonflight, some miscellaneous baddies down that last hallway and then the Corrupter himself. Don't forget about Meathook, the Fleshcrafter, and the Infinite agent in town hall, as well."

Two Bosses Enter ... but only One Boss Leaves, in WoW Insider's series of fantasy death matches. This season's bosses come from the five-man instances of Wrath of the Lich King. With the past week's battle devolving into a popularity contest (a Mal'Ganis landslide over Varos Cloudstrider), we come to the next deathmatch in our Wrath season lineup: the Infinite Corruptor (The Culling of Stratholme) versus Gortok Palehoof (Utgarde Pinnacle). Get ready to unleash your comments, because this matchup will call upon your creativity to lay out the likely outcome of this protracted battle. You see, the Infinite Corruptor is the not-so-sociable Dragonspawn from The Culling of Stratholme's heroic timed event. He leaves the instance ("My work here is finished!") if you don't defeat him within 25 minutes. Well, we're not going to give Gortok a free hall pass here – he's going to have to work his way through things in 25 minutes, too, along with his posse: the Furbolg, the Worgen, the Rhino and the Jormungar.
