Most of the time, game announcements come via press releases and press conferences. Every now and then however, an unannounced game is spotted in the wild, untamed forests of trademark offices and rating boards. Siliconera spotted what could be such a creature this week via Germany's rating board, and its name is Giana Sisters vs. Super Meat Boy (or feminus gianicus meat-boyicus in science-speak). While a Super Meat Boy / Giana Sisters crossover has yet to be officially announced, the rating board has a fair amount of information attached to its rating; the listing claims that Giana Sisters vs. Super Meat Boy will be a PC title, published by Headup Games. We've provided a screenshot above, but you can see the listing for yourself by checking out the board's website and searching "Giana Sisters vs. Super Meat Boy." Super Meat Boy and Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams are both independently-developed 2D platformers, so a team-up isn't exactly out of the question. Still, it's an ... unexpected team-up to say the least. [Image: USK]

The Mole has been quietly polishing his Freedom Spoon, waiting for the opportune moment to strike the walls of every German retailer – and it's almost time. Monaco is getting a PC retail collector's edition in Germany this year from publisher Headup Games, the same company behind German collector's editions of Super Meat Boy, QUBE, The Basement Collection, Terraria, Limbo, Frozen Synapse and SOL Exodus. We spotted a Monaco poster at Headup's Gamescom booth and the publisher said it was working on the German collector's edition, with another company figuring out a UK boxed version. Andy Schatz, Monaco mastermind, said he's excited about launching in the UK and Germany and he hopes to enter more markets later on. Keep your eyes and Freedom Spoons sharp, everyone.

  • Meridian: New World is a sci-fi RTS ripped from one guy's brain

Meridian: New World is a new real-time strategy game from independent studios Headup Games and Elder Games, due to launch in Q2 2014 for the PC. It's the brainchild of Hungarian indie Ede Tarsoly, who's spent the last two years building the game. With a strong focus on a single-player narrative campaign, Meridian: New World will employ customizable loadouts for units – rocket launchers, plasma cannons and mining drills are a few weapon types. A full suite of level editing tools will also ship with the game and players can grab custom maps through a built-in downloader. The decision to omit multiplayer came down to resources. "I simply don't have the resources required to polish both a single and a multiplayer mode so I had to make a decision between single and multiplayer," Tarsoly told Joystiq. "I already had part of the story written back when development started, so I decided to develop the single player mode."
