Yet another round of hotfixes for Patch 4.0.6 has been released, according to blue poster Zarhym. As with prior hotfixes, some may go live immediately, while others may require server restarts. Regardless, there are plenty of interesting fixes this time around, from class tweaks to adjustments to dungeons and raids. A few highlights: Haste is again properly increasing resource regeneration rates for applicable melee classes. However, this fix will require a realm restart to take effect. For priests, Inner Focus now appropriately increases the critical heal chance of Flash Heal, Binding Heal, Greater Heal, and Prayer of Healing. For those who are wondering where those bouquets of roses went, fear not -- Bouquet of Ebon Roses and Bouquet of Red Roses for the Love Is in the Air event now properly drop from Cataclysm dungeons. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

  • Haste bug squashed by hotfix

Patch 4.0.6 brought with it a rather nasty bug that primarily affected non-mana using DPS including hunters, feral druids, rogues, and death knights. The client was disagreeing with the server on exactly how much haste refreshed the regeneration time of focus, energy, and runes, causing the client to report that certain resources were ready for use before they actually were, which then caused the player to press the button and the ability to not fire. CM Bashiok has been keeping us up to date on the status of the bug and just recently reported that it should be fixed via a hotfix that was applied late last night. It's hotfix time! Blue poster Zarhym has posted with a whole mess of new hotfixes, and boy, are there some doozies this time around. The changes include loot table adjustments for all raid dungeons, adjustments to the Lunar Festival, and a handful of class changes as well. Some highlights from the list: Heroic set tokens in raid dungeons have been moved to earlier bosses on 25-player heroic difficulty (chest from Halfus, legs from Maloriak, gloves from Magmaw, helm from Nefarian, shoulder from Cho'gall). Elder Rumblerock is now available during the quest "Assault on Dreadmaul Rock" for both the Horde and the Alliance. In Deadmines, Glubtok's Fire and Frost Blossoms summoned during the encounter no longer grant experience or reputation. In Vortex Pinnacle, bosses will no longer respawn after a soft reset if players already have a heroic save. Follow us after the break for a full list of changes.

What with all the buzz about the PTR and the upcoming patch, it's been a while since we've seen some good old-fashioned hotfixes. Fear not, for blue poster Zarhym has posted with some new goodies for us all. Today's list of hotfixes seems to run the gamut from class tweaks to quests, but there are a few notable changes for raids and dungeons: In Blackwing Descent, Atramedes will no longer despawn when his tail passes through the area trigger in the entrance to his room. He will no longer despawn randomly during the fight. Pulling him out of his room will now cause him to reset. Also from Blackwing Descent, the damage of Chimaeron's Caustic Slime has been reduced for both raid sizes and dungeon difficulties. Over in Tol Barad, "The Leftovers," "Swamp Bait" and "A Huge Problim" can now be shared between members of the Alliance. In addition, these quests now award the correct amount of gold and faction for the Horde and Alliance as well. Follow us after the break for the full list of hotfixes.

Community Manager Zarhym has documented and posted another list of hotfixes this evening. While there are still a number of changes to the open world, attention has been turned to the high-end raids and raid bosses of the current tier, such as Cho'gall and the Bastion of Twilight. Some examples of the overall changes: Heroic Deadmines now has significantly fewer trash mobs. Ramkahen now has a functional mailbox. What can King Phaoris do for you? The number of guard spawns in Tol Barad has been increased for both Horde and Alliance base camps, with guards now surrounding the edges of each camp. Both Alliance and Horde guards use all abilities that the Furious Hyjal Warden uses and will attack with ranged abilities when unable to find a path or at a distance. Guards are also immune to taunt effects. In addition, Hellscream and Baradin Guards now respawn more quickly. You can find the full list of hotfixes behind the cut below.

Continuing the steady stream of Cataclysm tinkering we've seen this week, Blizzard has posted yet another set of hotfixes. And this is a pretty good set! Some notable changes: The duration of the Superheated Quicksilver Armor debuff on Karsh Steelbender is now 17 seconds, up from 12 seconds. The encounter was too hard to tank and went against our intended fight mechanics. The display for this buff may not properly update until a client-side patch is applied. Rare archaeology finds should now grant triple skill gains. Mekgineer Thermaplugg is no longer using outdated abilities and has a shiny new list of abilities to use. He is also no longer immune to taunts. Elemental Goos now drop 100% of the time off of Cataclysm elementals for the jewelcrafting daily quest. Chaos Orbs can now only been seen and rolled on by characters with a minimum skill level of 425 in tailoring, blacksmithing, leatherworking, or engineering. For the full list of hotfixes, follow us behind the break below.

Community Manager Zarhym has documented and posted another list of hotfixes this evening. The list grows ever shorter compared to what they were immediately after launch, but the changes are still numerous. Here are some interesting examples: The search radius to find an archaeology node from the archaeology ability Survey has been increased. This will result in fewer searches needed while in the "green" range of surveying. Several cooking recipes were not counting toward the achievement Set the Oven to "Cataclysmic" and have been updated. Note that Darkbrew Lager, Highland Spirits, and Chocolate Cookie are not intended to count for this achievement. Several shirts have been corrected so they no longer cause a player's item level to increase. They are item level 1. For the full list of hotfixes, follow us behind the break below.

Another day, another round of hotfixes. Once again, today's hotfixes are aimed primarily at class and dungeon balance, turning some knobs one way and some the other. Some examples: Halls of Origination The damage of Fireballs automatically cast by Temple Fireshaper with Molten Barrier active has been adjusted in normal and heroic difficulty. The Stonecore The Crystal Shards creatures in the Corborus encounter are now level 86, down from 88. Shaman The Mana Tide Totem hotfix from yesterday has been reverted. The Mana Tide buff no longer stacks, as this had a major impact on encounter design. The full list of hotfixes is behind the cut below.

  • Black Ops PS3 network connectivity hotfix released, 'more coming'

Whatever you do: "Please do not delete your save data," pleaded Treyarch community manager Josh Olin on the Black Ops Forums late last night, "as it will not have an effect on network connectivity." Olin (a.k.a. JD_2020) was posting to discredit a rumor that doing so would fix network connectivity issues that have plagued the PS3 version of Black Ops since Tuesday's patch. Olin confirmed that a hotfix was released at approximately 12:30AM ET Wednesday and claimed it's "the reason many users have experienced improved connectivity" (and not the deletion of save data). While this fix hasn't solved the issues entirely, Treyarch is "working hard to track down the cause" and will continue to release more hotfixes, according to Olin, "so stay tuned." Late last night, another round of Cataclysm hotfixes was deployed and posted to the official World of Warcraft blog. The list of hotfixes is massive; here are some highlights: The trade skill nodes were too dense in Deepholm and Twilight Highlands for mining and herbalism. Several have been removed. Players are no longer able to retain the 450 percent swim speed increase from the Abyssal Seahorse through devious, devious means. Players of the opposite faction can no longer kill the lures for the Seahorses. It's just mean and wrong. And mean. Follow through the break for the full list of hotfixes.

  • Low-level dungeon quest experience nerfed

    11.30.2010

A hotfix notice was posted to the forums not long ago warning of an impending change: level 1 to 60 dungeon quests will award significantly less XP. While few players will be fans of such a change, I do think it's a smart one. In the blue post below, Zarhym says that players were outpacing the questing progression because of these quests, and it is absolutely true. Using the dungeon finder and completing the quests in each dungeon threw off quest and zone progression completely. When my dwarf shaman finished all of the quests in the Wetlands, she already had Hero's Call quests from the board in Ironforge urging her to skip multiple zones ahead. Not what you would call a great leveling curve. Zarhym We are applying a hotfix today to all level 1-60 dungeon quests for Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms dungeons which will significantly reduce the amount of experience they award. While dungeons should remain integral to our evolving storylines, and great places to collect gear in cooperative environments, we need to make sure each player's questing progress remains relevant as dungeon quests are completed. In many cases we're seeing players enter dungeons to complete quests, only to come out ahead of the leveling curve for the zones they're in. This change should allow players the opportunity to reap the benefits of running dungeons, while not outpacing the leveling flow from levels 1-60. At this time there are no plans for making any adjustments to dungeon quest experience for Outland, Northrend, and level 80+ Cataclysm dungeons. 11.24.2010

Earlier in the evening, Blizzard posted a list of hotfixes for yesterday's patch on the official World of Warcraft blog. Here are a few notable fixes: Fishing daily quests in Stormwind and Orgrimmar have returned. Shield Slam's damage has been reduced by about 28 percent at level 15, with smaller but still noticeable reductions at higher levels. The title "Champion of [guildname]" can no longer be improperly awarded to players. The full list of hotfixes are behind the cut below.

  • Patch 4.0.1 hunter DPS hotfix

    by
    Matthew Rossi

    10.20.2010

If you play a hunter, you may be interested in what Zarhym had to say today about your DPS -- namely, that it should already have gone up. Yay for more damage! Zarhym - Re: Class balance as of Oct 13, 2010 We have pushed a hotfix to improve hunter damage. Specifically, we increased the damage of the signature abilities (Chimera Shot, Black Arrow, Explosive Shot, and Kill Command) by 15-25%. This will both improve overall damage-dealing and make sure that these abilities are prioritized higher than other shots. We think this will bring hunters to a good enough state until they hit 85. Aspect of the Fox and Cobra Shot solve some specific issues at higher levels. Marksman hunters may still trump Survival and Beastmaster hunters until they're 85, since their rotations rely a little on Cobra Shot. source So just in time for Hallow's End, you hunters get 15 to 25 percent more damage on several signature abilities. I don't play a hunter myself, but I'm happy for y'all, as long as I don't end up in Sholazar with my wife camping some rare spawn parrot thing. I really don't understand you non-melee types, but I can't see a downside to more base damage here.

  • DDO Update 5: Massively's interview with Fernando Paiz

Dungeons and Dragons Online Update 5 has been out for a while now, and it came on the scene to mixed reviews. Some players were unhappy about the combat changes, bugs here and there caused problems, and there were a couple of hotfixes in the first few days. The new adventure pack and guild renown system balanced it out nicely, though. In spite of continued glitches they were viewed overall as a great addition to the game. We were curious about several aspects of the update and what Turbine has planned for the immediate future, so we posed a few questions to Executive Producer Fernando Paiz. Follow along after the jump to see what he had to say about DDO's Update 5.

  • Hotfix coming to Dungeons and Dragons Online Update 5

    06.29.2010

Dungeons and Dragons Online's latest update "Rise of the Guilds," had a huge emphasis on airships, airship amenities, and the guild renown system. It wasn't the only thing coming in the update by any means, but it was unarguably the feature most strongly promoted by Turbine. Update 5 went live yesterday, and many players jumped in to begin earning renown for their guilds right away. Unfortunately, it didn't last very long. The guild renown system had some underlying issues that caused it to be completely shut down after only a few hours. It was a frustrating situation for both players and Turbine staff, as guild renown is the underpinning of the entire airship system and all the amenities that go along with it. Just a short while ago, Meghan "Patience" Rodberg posted an update on the DDO forums: "We are currently testing a hotfix to Update 5 that will restore the Black Abbot raid and the ability to earn guild renown. The DDO Game Servers are tentatively scheduled to be brought down on Tuesday, June 29 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Eastern (-4 GMT) to deploy the hotfix. We'll update this message with any changes to the schedule. Lamannia will remain up and available during the downtime. Thanks for your patience!" Keep an eye on the forum thread for any updates, and hopefully players will be earning renown and buying airships in no time.

  • Pink for Tink gets official Mythic support

Finding out that you have cancer of any variety is always a bombshell, and for Warhammer Online player Trish, it became doubly difficult as she discovered that her breast cancer returned as of April this year. Feeling the urge to support Trish -- who goes by several variations on the word "Tink" in WAR -- her friends, guild and the surrounding Badlands server community created a "Pink for Tink" movement to raise awareness and offer encouragement. This eventually led to the creation of a pink-themed guild specifically for this cause, with several blogs which have been reporting on its growth. As Tink's husband wrote on their blog, "One sort of expects close friends and family to express support, but to have strangers (including your "enemies") stand behind you in solidarity is touching in a very different way." This past Tuesday, Mythic lent their support by adding a couple "very special dye vendors" into the game: Alda Tinkengruber (Order) and Grobbik Bigtink (Destruction). These vendors are selling "Slaneesh Pink Dye" and "Light Purple Dye" for a limited time for players who want to support Tink, enjoy the unusual shades, or both. It's always a terrific sign when both developers and players can join together for a selfless cause such as this, and we hope Tink emerges victorious. You can read more about the new dyes over on the WAR Herald.

  • Festival horse vendor removed from Lord of the Rings Online

    03.30.2010

Did your goals for Lord of the Rings Online's Spring Festival include getting yourself a spiffy horse? Well, you're going to have to wait just a little while in order to get your hands on one. How long? We don't know yet. What we do know is that the vendor has been removed entirely, thus preventing players from even gazing longingly at the listing in the menu. As Sapience explained on the forums, the issue wasn't really the vendor so much as the horse itself. To wit: the way the game is handling mounts is being changed. As a result, they need to change the item, remove the item from the vendor's list, or remove the vendor entirely until the issue is resolved. However, the former two changes require a patch, and the issue is kind of small for an entire patch -- not to mention that it's the sort of fix more easily rolled into a larger patch. While it's bad news for Lord of the Rings Online players, it's at least nice to get a quick and clear explanation on why the vendor got yanked. [ via A Casual Stroll to Mordor ]

In addition to Saronite Bombs being disabled, there are a number of other hotfixes being rolled out on live realms this evening. You can find them in Bornakk's forum thread or continue reading them below. Blood Queen Lana'thel will now begin her flight phase a little earlier in 25 player mode, Vampiric Bite is no longer mitigated by armor, and the damage of Vampiric Bite has been reduced. Toravon will now be affected appropriately by Area-of-Effect damage spells. The Frost Orb corpses in the Toravon encounter will now despawn faster.

  • Saronite Bombs and similar items disabled [Updated]

    02.03.2010

We do not know whether or not this was used in the Lich King kills we've seen so far (Ensidia's kill screenshot suggests they did), but Daelo hit the European forums to make the announcement that they've temporarily disabled Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge. What does this have to do with the Lich King? Well, Daelo says... We just made a hotfix that disables the siege damage dealt by Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge. The siege damage of the bombs was causing the Frozen Throne platform to rebuild, which greatly decreases the difficulty of the encounter. We'll reenable the siege damage in a later update when the issue with the Frozen Throne is fixed. It is a longstanding tradition for end bosses to be exploited in the most hilariously awful of ways, so seeing something like this isn't all that surprising. Here's hoping nothing else like it crops up. Update: Ensidia has released a statement regarding their use of this bug. Update, take 2: Ensidia's raiding crew has received a 72-hour ban from the game (as well as loss of loot and achievements) for using Saronite Bombs to "bypass The Lich King fight mechanics."
