Look, we're not gonna tell you how to spend your hard-earned money. If you want to spend two actual dollars enabling your Killzone: Shadow Fall character to fart -- yes, that kind of fart -- and "plank" (this) on PlayStation 4, go for it. But allow us this moment of plea: please don't. Here's the description of what your $2 gets you: "It's all fun and games until someone loses a game. (Or so they say). Show your fallen enemies, not everything need [sic] be taken seriously. This pack contains Fart, Planking and Comedy spotlight moves." One part of us wants to know what "Comedy spotlight moves" could possibly be given that the highly comedic farting and planking verbs have already been used.

The PlayStation 4 is fast. The DualShock 4 is the best gamepad Sony's ever created. In 48 hours spent using the PS4 without its extremely comprehensive Day One patch, there are only so many feelings to feel about Sony's latest game console. We are in such a position this morning, having spent the past two days locked away in Engadget's Brooklyn office kicking The Playroom's AR bots around and shooting Helghast with the new DualShock 4. For reviewers, the 1.50 PS4 firmware patch went live last night around 7PM ET (at least for us in NYC). As such, we're planning a comprehensive review of the post-update console ahead of this Friday's launch. Stay tuned! What you'll find below, however, are our impressions of the PlayStation 4's most important feature: its ability to play games.

  • PS4 struts its power in download-only Killzone: Shadow Fall trailer

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a next-gen game trailer in 1080p at 60fps is at least five times as valuable. However, streaming such a clip without degrading the source material isn't exactly a cake walk, and that's why the latest teaser for Killzone: Shadow Fall is only available as a direct download from Sony. If you click over to the PlayStation Blog you can grab a video showing off the game's multiplayer that weighs in at a hefty 570MB for just over a minute of footage. Sony isn't the first to do this though, it's just the first to heavily publicize it: Respawn has 1080p 60fps footage of Titanfall for your downloading pleasure, too. If this is what it takes to get a better idea of how a game will actually look when we play it ourselves, we're all for it. However, we find it a little odd that Sony's file is in Quicktime format -- a codec that a PS3 can't play back natively.

  • Jimmy Fallon gets first PS4 hands-on, plays some Killzone: Shadow Fall (video)

First things first: We still haven't seen the PlayStation 4. That said, if you'd like to see someone other than a Sony rep or developer putting their hands all over that DualShock 4 with touchpad and share button -- we asked, but apparently network TV still trumps internet -- then say no more. Managing Director of Guerilla Games Hermen Hulst came by the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show with a prototype unit (not shown) loaded up with the Killzone: Shadow Fall demo we saw at the press conference. Jimmy and guest Anthony Anderson played a bit, with varying degrees of success and were predictably impressed by the new system, due to release by the end of this year. Unfortunately, there's no new information to be had, unless you wanted to know what the ceilings in the game look like (clearly, Anderson prefers to play shooters inverted). Watch the video embedded after the break, we're going to doublecheck ?uestlove's Instagram to see if he got any backstage or setup shots of the system behind the curtain.

This is what it's all about, right? Live on-stage at the PS4's launch event, we saw some Killzone Shadow Fall game footage shared directly to Facebook... which we then proceeded to grab the extract code for and added after the break. Warning: it may involve explosions. Check out our liveblog of Sony's event to get the latest news as it happens.
