A group of Navy SEALs are in trouble with Uncle Sam for consulting on EA's Medal of Honor: Warfighter. So far seven SEALs have received letters of reprimand, effectively denying them the prospect of promotion, and had half their salaries docked for two months. One of the affected SEALs was part of SEAL Team Six, the outfit made famous for taking down Osama Bin Laden. Though Medal of Honor: Warfighter has no missions based on the storming of Bin Laden's compound, the SEALs were privy to classified data they were forbidden from sharing, CBS reports. It may be unrelated in the consultation, but Warfighter does have DLC loosely based on "Zero Dark Thirty," the movie adaptation of – you guessed it – the Bin Laden mission.Four of the seven SEALs affected are still engaged in active duty and under investigation.

We don't always believe in ghosts, but when we do, they don't carry high-powered sniper rifles, automatic weapons, or travel in packs. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has begun its Believe in Ghosts series with the above video, where it compares real-life spec ops missions with in-game tactics.

Can't get enough pinball on your Mac? War Pinball HD from Gameprom takes the great pinball engine we saw in Pinball HD and adds some war film tie-ins to the mix. You've got three tables on offer in War Pinball HD, two based on Charlie Sheen flicks, Platoon and Navy Seals, and one on a Chuck Norris special, Missing in Action. Each table is stacked full of images, props and sounds from the movies. You've even got unique elements like Huey's, Subs and a giant Chuck Norris on the table that form part of the missions available to each table. Of course because it's war-themed you've got oodles of gun fire and explosions. Almost every action on the table has some sort of well thought out and integrated sound effect or clip from the respective movie, making the soundscape within War Pinball HD incredibly immersive. It draws you in and really adds to the action. In the settings there's a toggle for some of the more sweary clips, just in case youngsters are playing. Even the menu music and sound effects are great. If you're a fan of American war films, you're going to love it. The game's graphics look great of course, and you can even play it in 3D with some suitable glasses. Gameplay is top notch too, as each table plays really well, with enough side missions and targets to keep you entertained. If you're hankering for some decent pinball action on your Mac, the US$2.99 War Pinball HD brings pinball and war together to give you one of the best pinball games available in the Mac App Store.

  • NAVY SEALs getting fancy LCD sunglasses, will surely show up as DLC in next SOCOM game

We're still a few years away from getting some consumer-friendly LCD sunglasses, but wouldn't you know it the military's already rocking a pair. The Office of Naval Research TechSolutions department has delivered the first 30 sets of what it calls Fast-Tint Protective Eyewear (FTPE). They can change tint automatically based on exterior light, much like currently available prescription glasses, but thanks to their LCD construction can go from dark to clear in just a half-second. This means a SEAL squad could blow a door and infiltrate a room without having to ask the terrorists to hold their fire while everyone takes off their shades. Initial reports are good and SOCOM is planning on buying another 100 sets. Maybe by the time they're delivered someone will release a picture of the things and we won't have to use a random photo of camouflage shades like this one. Update: Travis wrote in with a link to James Vaughan Photography, which has a few photos of prototype versions of these glasses. We've grabbed one. [Image Credit: James Vaughan Photography]

  • Confront the SOCOM: Confrontation trailer

Slant Six recently released a gameplay trailer for SOCOM: Confrontation, the series' maiden voyage onto Sony's current-gen home console. It looks faithful to the series' frantic, tactical roots on the PlayStation 2, though this trailer doesn't do a great job of showing off the game's new features and gameplay improvements. The graphics, though significantly gussied-up since its public unveiling last year, still could use a bit of polish -- though we'd be willing to sacrifice a bit of gussy for a steady framerate during the many 32-man multiplayer matches we'll be participating in. You can find out if it really does pay to be a winner when Confrontation drops on October 14.
