Make room on the couch for a quirky, local multiplayer game designed for two players: Paparazzi. It's due out on PlayStation 4 in February, downloadable for $5. In Paparazzi, one player is a celebrity and the other is a picture-hungry paparazzo. The celebrity tries to earn dignity by attracting fans and avoiding the photographer's camera lens, and the paparazzo attempts to earn money by spotting the celebrity in a variety of scenarios and snapping his or her picture. Paparazzi started as a game jam project under the McConaughey-approved theme, "Cameras aren't guns. They can't really hurt you." It's the first game from three-person development team Pringo Dingo. "We are incredibly excited about how far we've brought the game since that jam," Designer and Artist Mike Longley writes on the PlayStation Blog. Paparazzi's official site lists Wii U, PC and Mac as additional platforms, and it's officially coming to Steam via Greenlight. Pringo Dingo's successful $5,000 Kickstarter advertised Paparazzi as a PC game. See the PS4 announcement trailer after the break. Sony's Party-shot dock is fun and all but it suffers from one major limitation: it's fixed in space. Oh sure, it'll pan and tilt around its base until the last reveler is unconscious, but it won't go to where the action is. That's where the Ohio State University developed Paparazzi Bot comes in. The autonomous, sensor-laden, mobile robot stands at human height and decides for itself whether or not to snap your photo based upon your facial expression (hint: it likes smiles). If chosen, the bot stops, aims, shoots and uploads your image to a social networking site for other robots to mock, presumably -- a kind of fleeting celebrity anointment as described by the bot's inventor, Ken Rinaldo; or a kind of precursor to robots with automatic weapons, if you ask us. Video demonstration after the break.

Esteemed lens manufacturer Carl Zeiss is breaking new ground by releasing the PhotoScope 85 T* FL, a spotting scope that also serves as a seven megapixel digital camera -- just in case "super-zoom" wasn't enough for you. With 15 - 45x magnification, a focal length of 600 - 1800 mm, a flip-out OLED display, and an IR remote for vibration-free release, it's great for birdwatchers but perhaps even better for the paparazzi. Look for it in Spring or Summer 2009 if you're planning to profit off the next Amy Winehouse meltdown.[Via PhotographyBLOG]

Here's an interesting utility. Paparazzi! allows you to quickly take a screenshot of just about any website without having to launch a browser. Just enter the URL of the site you're after and click the "Capture" button. Once the image has loaded, adjust the size (using either the default options or your own guidelines) and the crop area and you're done. Click "Save Image As..." and you've got it. Paparazzi is universal and free (requires Mac OS 10.3 or later).[Via The Iconfactory]
