Best Buy details a season pass for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag highlighting pirate protagonist Edward Kenway's first mate, Adewale, as a playable character. The Best Buy listing says this content will take players "even deeper into the real explosive events of the Golden Age of Pirates." Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's season pass will cost $20, Best Buy says, and will include both single-player and multiplayer content. The cost for these packs piecemeal is $40 according to the listing. Season passes are hardly new to the Assassin's Creed franchise. In Assassin's Creed 3, season pass content revolved around an alternate story focusing on a tyrannical King George Washington. Ubisoft has previously stated PlayStation platforms will have exclusive Assassin's Creed 4 content highlighting the story of the Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation heroine, Aveline.

  • The Last of Us to get single-player DLC, season pass detailed

Naughty Dog is venturing into single-player DLC for the first time with The Last of Us. The Uncharted developer announced the season pass for its latest PS3 project this week, revealing it'll entitle buyers to three pieces of The Last of Us DLC, including one for single-player. The other two feature maps and other additions for the multiplayer, a mode which Naughty Dog has been very coy about. The studio promises more info about The Last of Us' multiplayer later this week - which is handy, since the game is out in just over two weeks. The game's season pass is priced $19.99, and Naughty Dog says that equates to a 30 percent saving on the individual pieces of DLC. In addition to the DLC, the season pass includes some 'Day 1 Bonuses,' namely a number of in-game upgrades and an "exclusive" 90-minute making of documentary called 'Grounded.' Which you probably won't watch on Day 1, seeing as you'll have just gotten the game.

  • Zombies, Run! kicks off season 2

Zombies, Run! is one of the most creative running apps that you'll find on the App Store, hands down. It does what many other running apps do, like track your time and distance. But it's also a game. By combining sound effects, narratives, characters and GPS tracking, the app lets you "play" along (by running, always by running) as Runner Five, one of several human survivors of a zombie apocalypse. Your missions often require you to pick up various virtual items, outrun the flesh-eaters and explore a zombie-filled, postapocalyptic setting. Zombies, Run! is very impressive in its staging. The app does a great job of not only keeping you running, but also telling a compelling story with strong characters (and even some real emotions). As of today, the app has reached version 2.0, and that means that the developer is kicking off "season two" of the game's missions. This means more stories (with you, the player, as "Runner 5"), more items to find and of course lots more running to do. You can also build your own base to fight off zombies from. The app also supports those who prefer to run on a treadmill, so even if you're work out at the gym, you can still get "chased" by zombies. To celebrate, the developer has launched a sale. The main app, if you don't already own it yet, is available for US$3.99. Season two's upcoming missions are being sold via a "season pass," which means you'll pay one price now and then get all of the add-ons as they come out. You can get a season two pass right now for just $1.99, half off of the usual $3.99 price. There's also a "sidequest pass" (with access to all of season two's sidequests) for $2.99, or you can pick up the whole shebang for $4.99 right now. Zombies, Run! is a terrific app, both to get you running and in terms of the way it's designed to tell a great episodic story. If you haven't gone for a jog with this app yet, now's a great time to do so.

Resident Evil: Revelations will feature a Season Pass to enable four unannounced DLC packs, a new pre-order deal on Steam reveals. The updated version of Revelations hits Steam on May 20, but the more people that buy it before the launch date, the more goodies everyone can enjoy, with three reward tiers unlocked by pre-order numbers.Tier one is already unlocked, meaning everyone who pre-orders on Steam will get an art book and 13-song soundtrack when the game launches. Next up is tier two, a free copy of 2007's Lost Planet: Extreme Condition that Capcom will distribute shortly after that pre-order goal is reached. Tier three promises "more weapons and more characters" for Raid mode, with four pieces of additional content to be revealed after the game's launch, all part of the Season Pass. There's no word yet if these pre-order bonuses apply to console versions of Revelations as well.

  • Injustice season pass includes 4 characters, bonus costumes [Update: Now with more Harley Quinn]

Just as Mortal Kombat did before it, Injustice: Gods Among Us will employ the increasingly popular Season Pass monetization model convenience option for the game's inevitable character DLC. Who those characters actually are, of course, remains a mystery, though we do know that there will be four of them. The pass costs $14.99/1200 MS Points and includes four characters for "the price of three," according to the press release, which means we can safely infer that Injustice's character DLC will cost $4.99/400 MS Points a pop when purchased individually. You may begin theorizing over the identities of the above silhouettes at the sound of the beep.Three bonus costumes are also included, based on Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Deathstroke's alternate timeline personas from the plot arch that lead to the New 52 relaunch in 2011, "Flashpoint." For the uninitiated, Flashpoint is known as being the small splinter of the DC universe where Wonder Woman actually wore some damn clothes that made sense for a conquering warrior princess.Update: As a small aside, Harley Quinn's story trailer has been tucked away after the break. We'll keep this description brief in case anyone is avoiding such things because spoilers, but let's just say that the Joker is involved. Right? We couldn't believe it either.

Warner Bros. and Monolith have announced a new update for their console MOBA game, Guardians of Middle-earth, that will add both a Survival mode and a new map for the one-lane versus mode. The new Survival mode takes place in the Glittering Caves of the White Mountains, and pits one to five players against a series of incoming enemy and boss waves, trying to keep towers up and stay alive as long as possible. The "Goblin-town" map for the one-lane mode sets the battle in the Misty Mountains near the Witch-king's dwelling, as seen in The Hobbit last year. We've got videos of both the new mode and the new map down below. To celebrate the release, Monolith devs are jumping in on the PlayStation Network and hosting a special "Play with Devs" session on Friday, March 1 from 5-8pm PT. The game is free this week for PS Plus members, so if that's you download away.Monolith says the new content is coming "soon" to both PSN and XBLA, so no date yet. The company tells Joystiq that the new one-lane map will be free. Survival Mode will also be free for anyone with a season pass (included in the boxed retail copies of the game), but cost extra otherwise.

As Vin Diesel and Bow Wow taught us in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, drifting is the coolest possible way to travel from Point A to Point B, regardless of situation, circumstance or the amount of neon lights underneath your car.We bring this up because Forza Horizon's latest bundle of DLC is a rally racing expansion pack, available next Tuesday, December 18, for 1,600 MS Points. The "Rally" expansion includes five new rally-purposed cars, new stages, new online multiplayer events and even co-driver announcements, so you can keep your damn eyes on the road you lunatic.Anyone who purchased Horizon's $50 Season Pass will get the Rally expansion for free, along with an exclusive 2003 Ford Focus SVT. Under any other circumstances, a 10-year-old Ford Focus isn't really what we'd call a "motivating incentive."

    10.26.2012

When we originally reviewed the TiVo Premiere DVR back in 2010, one of our laments was that its revamped HD guide style didn't cover all of the screens in its menu system, and the issue still existed when we reviewed the XL4 earlier this year. Finally, that's being addressed, as TiVo VP Margret Schmidt has confirmed the upcoming fall update will bring reworked screens for the To Do List, Season Pass Manager and My Shows (for networked DVRs), and tweeted screenshots. Also of note are a number of Comcast areas recently added to the list of places that support Xfinity VOD via TiVo, so check your zip code to be sure. As far as the update goes, as usual, if you'd like to be first on the list to try it out, go ahead and sign up on the Priority list right away.
