As living worlds, MMOs lend themselves to much more than just a simple shelf life. When they succeed, they can thrive; when they lose, they can lose it all. But some MMOs are returning from the dead lately, whether through a new publisher, as with APB: Reloaded, or through a complete redesign, as with Final Fantasy XIV. Further still, some games are enjoying renewed interest levels from players as game-changing expansions are being announced. So what does the Massively staff think of MMO reincarnation? With the glut of new (and undying) MMORPGs crowding the current market, sampling a large number of them can be extremely challenging. There simply isn't enough time to take it all in, and while choice isn't a bad thing per se, it can be overwhelming. Endless choices can also make it tough to revisit games. In years past, I've often returned to the site of earlier MMO disappointments and been pleasantly surprised by the gameplay experiences to be had after a bit of post-launch seasoning. These days, if an MMO doesn't hook me at launch (or before), that's usually all she wrote unless I've got a pre-existing attachment to the IP. What about you, Massively folk? For this morning's Daily Grind, tell us about your forgiving streak when it comes to MMORPGs. Do you check in on games that didn't meet your expectations in the past? How many chances does a game get to hook you? Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!

Maybe you've been following an MMO for years through alpha testing and closed and open beta. Maybe you haven't been obsessing over it at all but decided to give it a shot anyway. You log in for an hour, day, week, or month. It just doesn't do it for you and you choose not to subscribe, or in the case of a F2P MMO, simply refuse to log back in. Given the first month retention rates of most MMOs, it would seem many of us have gone through this experience. I only played World of Warcraft for a couple months when it first came out before running back to Dark Age of Camelot. I stuck with DAOC for roughly six more months before giving WoW another shot. I ended up playing WoW for nearly two years before giving up again after hitting 70. I rarely give MMOs a second chance because one taste is usually enough for me to realize whether or not I'm going to enjoy a game. That said, MMOs undergo vast changes over time. How many chances do you give an MMO to impress you and what are the factors that affect your decision?
