Due to this week's PSN maintenance, the weekly content dump is a bit off schedule but no less lacking in goods. Headlining this week's offerings is the PSN launch of Deadpool, High Moon Studios' take on the merc with a mouth. Hotline Miami, a cross-buy game for both PS3 and PS Vita, also makes its debut on PSN alongside Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers and Spartacus Legends. Spartacus Legends, Ubisoft's free-to-play gladiatorial combat game, will launch on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network next week. While the Xbox Live Arcade launch will be worldwide, launch dates for PSN in Europe, Asia and Japan are forthcoming. The Kung Fu Factory-developed game chose the free-to-play route late last year and is based on the Starz television show. Players manage a stable of fighters and control their progress through each battle in the colosseum – death is permanent.

The Kung Fu Factory-developed Spartacus Legends will be a free-to-play game on XBLA, Ubisoft has announced. Spartacus Legends is the first third-party entry in Microsoft's free-to-play pilot program on XBLA, following Ascend: New Gods and Happy Wars. Spartacus Legends will also be available (and free) on PSN when it launches in Q1 2013.Outside of combat, players can develop their own staple of warriors in Spartacus Legends and control their progress, equipping them with personal weapons and training them in one of eight different fighting styles.I spent some time playing it during Ubisoft's unveiling event and, at first glance, it's very reminiscent of Deadliest Warrior – though combatants in Spartacus Legends can withstand a lot more punishment. The combat is more combo-focused, so you won't lose an arm with a single swipe. It's a bit less realistic, but since permadeath is in play you may be glad fighters can take more of a beating. Yes, once your gladiator dies, he's dead forever.%Gallery-160198%

Ubisoft is developing a fighting game based on the Starz original series, Spartacus. The game is Spartacus Legends, and the show is Spartacus. And the game is Spartacus. And the movie is Spartacus. And we are Spartacus. (It had to be done; quit groaning and move on.)Spartacus Legends is set to launch in early 2013 for "your favorite console," although we assume SNES is out of the question on this one, no matter how "old-school" the series itself is. Spartacus Legends is based on characters from the television series and includes thousands of weapon combinations and a skill system to customize individual characters, including Spartacus and Crixus.Spartacus Legends will feature offline and online multiplayer in brutal arena battles. The game will be playable at the Starz Media booth at San Diego Comic-Con, running Thursday, July 12 to Sunday, July 15.%Gallery-160198%
