  • The Simpsons take on 'Mapple'

As Dave and Mike discussed during last night's talkcast, Sunday's episode of The Simpsons included plenty of wink-wink-nudge-nudge references to our favorite fruit company. (The video is also available on Hulu.com.) Lisa discovers a "Mapple store" has appeared in the Springfield Mall, complete with "myPods," "myPhones," and even a "Brainiac Bar." Comic Book Guy wants to know why OS 4.2 is built so poorly, and Krusty the Klown wants to get rid of his myPod. Mapple CEO "Steve Mobbs" also makes an appearance, with typical Simpsons hilarity ensuing. While not particularly biting social commentary, the sketch pokes fun at Apple Mapple customers' willingness to shell out big bucks for their products. The Simpsons have taken on Apple before, with the now-famous Newton "eat up Martha" gag. You might say this is one more thing to add to the list of gags that The Simpsons have done. In the words of Steve Mobbs and Steve Jobs, it's "insanely great." Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

With it being Friday and all, what better way to kick off your weekend than an awesome homage to both Mario and Louie Armstrong? The above video, expertly crafted by YouTube user BrentalFloss, is one of the best homages we've ever seen. Frankly, if it doesn't make your heart flutter, then you're a cold, hollow shell of a human being. Also, you probably aren't a big fan of good stuff.[Via Joystiq]

Seen commercials for the ShamWow? Well, today Kilh Machinima brings you its Azerothian equivalent in Hoodoo Teleshopping - The Deadmurloc(tm), his entry for the BlizzCon movie contest. Be warned: you must reconcile yourself with the idea that, although this version of Azeroth has television, it doesn't have a better way to clean your house than with a rehydrated dead murloc. Hoodoo Teleshopping is a Troll-run version of Home Shopping Network which demos the Deadmurloc product (don't forget the trademark) right before your eyes and shows you how the murlocs are harvested in cartoony, gory detail. I found the background music to be too distracting, competing with the already-variable levels on the voice acting, so sometimes it was hard to follow the sales pitch especially from the gravelly-voiced Troll salesman. The visuals are well done, though, and the effect of putting the HSN-style border around the image is slick. Kilh says it only took him 4.5 days to finish the production in order to meet the contest deadline. But hey, you can't argue with getting a Big Flat Rock for FREE. Now what would you pay?If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Mario: lovable mascot of the world's greatest videogame company, or dangerous child sex predator? We thought we knew the Italian plumber well enough, but apparently not.NBC Dateline's Chris Ted Hansen, brother of Chris Hansen, has caught Mario red-handed, entering a young victim's house in this delicious spoof of popular show To Catch A Predator. Like every predator that walks into the real Hansen's web, Mario immediately begins stuttering far-fetched excuses, though "I'm-a here to fix tha' pipes" is a new one on us, you beast. First incest, and now this?! Needless to say, the sicko is soon 'cuffed up by the cops.Incidentally, if none of this is making any sense to you, there's a video of the real show past the break.

While we're waiting for the final results of the WeGame machinima contest, I thought I'd take some time to dig into the viewer submissions. The boys at Dirt Dog Gaming, of Eradar, have flooded my inbox. It's an interesting strategy that worked, but just this once. I previously wrote about their Christmas and New Years songs with a WoW spin on them. This time around, Mirabell and Barenger have parodied the infectious Katy Perry song, I Kissed a Girl. Their take, Tanked a Boss, isn't the best machinima by any means. The aspect ratio is way off and it sometimes jumps around. However, the song itself is worth it, and they get bonus points for the creative ways they give fellow guildmates shoutouts throughout the video![Thanks, Infamy, Barenger, Brendan, and Gump for your various submissions!]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

We're not ones to peruse the seedy underbelly of the adult film industry (hard to believe, with us working on the internet and all), but this story is too much to pass up. Does the above cover remind you of anything? Well, if it doesn't, you probably never played the Japanese title Brain Training (also known as Brain Age). Look at the game's boxart. See what we mean?If you want to know more, you can check out Hikaru Wakana's blog (NSFW linkage), who is the film's star.

It's only been about a week since we posted Gnomechewer's last machinima, Back In Your Head, but he's already back with a new one! There Will Be Cannibalism could be the closest thing to PvP that I'll ever enjoy posting here. It is a parody of There Will Be Blood, with Daniel Day Lewis, set to the disturbing sounds of a Britney Spears tune, Toxic. Given Gnomechewer's track record with the crowd, and his ability to produce quality entertainment consistently, we're thrilled that he abandoned Age of Conan and came back to WoW.If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Television parodies seem really popular for WoW machinima! WoW-TV is the work of a fairly new machinimator, Mindless2164. While not the greatest production, he recently went on to win second place in the Blizzard contest for Rogues Do It From Behind!WoW-TV starts out by recreating a Jenny Jones-type talk show, then goes through various other skits. Some are definitely better than others, but overall it's not a bad video for a beginning effort. This is just another example of how artists improve and go on to better projects. If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

(Some of the content of this video is of a (mild) adult nature. We've placed it behind the cut.)RaffyTaffy has released the second machinima in the TMV, or Taffy's Music Video, Hell series. Similar to Olibith's Never Stay Tuned series, and Khandy's What Else Is On!, it parodies songs by popular real life artists. While some of the parts are amusing, most are often too literal. However, I already see an improvement over the first TMV Hell that was released almost three months ago. Given how many songs there are out there just begging to be mocked, RaffyTaffy will have plenty for new material in the future![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...Click here to watch the video ...

Since you guys couldn't get enough of Gnomechewer, I'm featuring a suggestion by one of our commenters. If you can remember the 90s, a satire film, Last Action Hero, came out, and it starred California's governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. What was supposed to be a summer blockbuster has ended up the butt of jokes for 15 years. However, the dialogue and action worked much better in Last Action Crusader. Keep in mind that this machinima is seven months old. You're going to have to try to follow along with me on this plot. Arnold Menethil is freed by Scarlet Commander Mograine, and escapes Stormwind to join the Scarlet Crusade. The whole time, he plans to avenge his father's death and reclaim Lordaeron to sit as King. The storyline for this machinima is totally over the top, but then so is the original film that it's parodying. What you can expect is cheesy dialogue, fight scenes, and special effects.[Thanks, Kassius!]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

After yesterday's subliminal debacle, we need some quality time in front of the television. lagspikefilm, previously known for his runaway hit, Crossing Over, has invited us into Thrall's Crib. This parody of MTV Cribs is so inspired by the real deal that I wouldn't be surprised if MTV sought permission to air it, or, alternatively, cease and desist it.We're introduced to Thrall at the front of his pad, where he gives us a tour of his sweet rides, the room where the magic happens, and his unfortunate hair days. Fans of Cribs will notice every cut scene, musical choice, and even the sudden sped up footage. I wonder what a "house" like that costs?[Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Lagspikefilm must watch a lot of MTV. Not only did he parody MTV Cribs in this World of Warcraft machinima, but we're embarassed to admit that he got it down to the letter. Not that we watch MTV or anything. We're too busy playing and reviewing MMOs!There are too many great parts in this video to mention them all, but some highlights from Thrall's Crib include epic mounts, embarassing hair, and the mature manner in which he faces problems. Next time we're ready to upgrade our pad in WoW, we'll be sure to consult this video for ideas. In the meantime, enjoy the tour and the perfect camera work![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

Apparently employees of Linden Lab are easy targets, because there are not one, but two parodies on the menu today! The first machinima comes from Crap Mariner, and it introduces us to his version of M Linden, who recently signed on as the new CEO of LL. In Crap's Second Life, he's a sassy little M shape with wandering eyes. The second spoof is another special episode of Bobby Lee Linden, everyone's favorite dimwitted, lovable redneck. This time, with the help of machinimator Code Tracer, he weighs in on the hiring of M Linden, as well as tips on using camera controls. Due to some adult content, we're just linking to the episode instead of embedding it. If you haven't experienced the madness yet, don't forget to add Secondlie on Twitter. With an average of over 50 tweets per day, the workdays will seem much shorter when you're laughing the entire time. Parodies have never been so good!If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

(Warning: The video above is brief and tame, but the videos linked to this creator do contain some adult language and subject matter.)After the initial hype of Second Life died down, there started to be an intense backlash in the way the media reported on it. However, the residents stayed strong defenders of the virtual world. That appears to have changed over the weekend, though, as evidenced by Secondlie and Bobby Lee Linden. Both accounts are humorous parodies of Linden Lab and their employees. Secondlie mysteriously materialized on Twitter on Thursday night, and has amassed an incredible 300 updates, spoofing notices about everything from JIRA to the Terms of Service. Then this morning, someone released a series of introductions, as well as a cheeky first episode, for a King of the Hill-esque show with a redneck "employee" of LL. Fans of the anime series, Cowboy Bebop, may be interested in today's Cinemassively. It comes from Sku110ne over at WeGame, although we do believe it's straight from the archives. You know -- back when people actually played Star Wars Galaxies.Sku110ne attempted to recreate the intro to the series in SWG. This blogger knows that it's not easy to create machinima in certain MMOs, so he gets major credit for even attempting it. Throughout the remake, he shows shots of the actual intro. We assume that's because he wants to show you how close he is to the real thing. Either way, pull up a chair and enjoy this throwback to 2003!

(This video contains some heavy language, but only to keep in stride with the show that it is parodying, Trailer Park Boys. You've been warned.)Trailer Park Boys fame has reached critical mass. Not only is the homegrown, low-budget mockumentary-style taking over the globe in real life, now wowstudios (Joe Ashe) has parodied it in World of Warcraft. While I thought that he captured the feel of the series in his shots, I do have some complaints. I'm not sure why he showed voices transmitting in WoW, but it appears sloppy. In addition, I don't know if he was attempting focal depth, but the backgrounds just end up looking blurry. Criticism aside, I thought World of Trailer Park Boys was a funny and cute parody.[Via Warcraftmovies.com]Previously on Moviewatch ...

World of Warcraft machinima favorite, Ian Beckman, has created a parody version of the Blizzard trailer for Sunwell. In his world, everything is "awesome," "cool," "fun," and "happy." Don't worry about it being all rainbows and puppies, though. There's actually a story behind it.Blizzard's version, however, is awesome on it's own. Kael'thas Sunstrider determines that the Sunwell will make his people sick, so he sets out to destroy it, not realizing how dependant everyone is on it. Seeking guidance, he turns to Illidan Stormrage, and from there, lives are changed forever.Does your ideal patch 2.4 contain fury, or a pool of awesome?

According to Ian Beckman, Blizzard has a trailer for the new 2.4 patch that they don't want you to see. In the Blizzard-issued version, Kael'thas believes that the Sunwell is the root of all evil and destroys it. When the destruction makes things worse, he turns to Illidan Stormrage for help.Ian's version, however, tells the story of monsters that overtake the "pool of awesome." Kael'thas has an identity crisis and it just gets really random from there. If you like all things fun and happy, then this is the Sunwell for you! I wonder why Blizzard would cover up something so cool?Previously on Moviewatch ...

Vic Mignogna, best known as the voice of Edward Elric on the anime series, Full Metal Alchemist, is the latest to participate.Vic's inner WoW player turns out to be a warlock. He uses his theatrical voice and flare to present his story to the audience, even hinting at his ability to do alchemy. If you're looking for your next parody fix, the wait is over. The first installment of MMOvie is finally out. However, if you've seen the trailer, I don't think you'll be as impressed by the movie itself.I realize that the trailer and the movie are cut differently to serve a purpose, but I thought that all of the good material came from the teaser video. I was able to recognize many of the real films that the trailer parodied, and only a certain few in the final cut. Despite the weak storyline, I thought that it was really well done. Hopefully the second installment will hold more exciting material![Thanks to everyone who suggested this!]Previously on Moviewatch ...
