  • Zune/iPod spoof video from...Microsoft?

The other day, I posted about a Zune video riff on "I'm a Mac", fully convinced that it was a fanboy production. After all, you can't "squirt" video from one Zune to another (at least without resorting to the "rename-it-as-a-jpeg" hack) and it takes more than a single button hit to send data, and so forth. Lots of inaccuracies. So I was surprised to find out on the semi-official Zune Insider blog that the spoof video actually came from Microsoft itself. The video was first screened at an internal Microsoft meeting, and had the Microsoft people "rolling". Like the "Microsoft designs the iPod package" video, it was meant for an internal Microsoft audience, but someone leaked it to Youtube.

  • Wii safety docs spoofed

With the recent Japanese Wii manual scans being passed around the web like a super-resistant virus -- we kept saying not to use antibiotics for every meme, but noooo -- it was only a matter of time before a spoof. The Iconfactory took the challenge, creating some delicious mock-ups of Wii safety icons that should have made the manual. Our favorites include, don't get the Wii drunk before proposing to it, and butter your bread after toasting it in the Wii, not before.See also: Nintendo email encourages safe Wii-ing[Thanks, Dan. • Impressive PS3 ad spoof promoting Wii

Taking aim at the PS3 ad promoting the motion sensitivity of the SIXAXIS controller, this very impressive spoof not only makes fun, but actually ends up being a better advertisement. It's about time we started seeing fan-made videos using two random Asian businessmen to promote the PS3 like in the Wii ads ... oh wait, Sony already tried that.[Via Digital Battle]

  • Worst iPhone mockup ever utilizes Apple Remote

Ok, so Apple mockups seem to surface every other week or so, and while some renditions are utterly believable, there are a few that take the cake when it comes to eliciting a grin. The latest iPhone forgery (vid after the break) is brought to us courtesy of an (unsurprisingly) anonymous individual and YouTube, where an Apple Remote is apparently (and magically, no less) transformed into a cellphone. Aside from the awfully rendered fonts, "2D" appearance, and out-of-sync "clicks," we highly doubt Apple would create a mobile based on a Front Row controller. Regardless, we thank the dear creator for giving us such a hearty laugh, but this unfortunately won't quite make the cut for FCC Fridays.[Via TUAW]

  • PS3: better than a toaster?

For serious gamers this holiday season, there is really only one question: whether to buy a PS3 or a toaster. Thank goodness there's now a video guide to the relative benefits of each unit. According to the video, while the PS3 excels with its myriad cords and inputs, excellent love-making ability and saucy German attitude, the toaster is definitely the choice for fans of toast and Pop Tarts. We're a little skeptical of the video's claims that the PS3's self-replicating ability will ensure plentiful supplies at launch, but it's still worth due consideration.Previously: PS3 vs. Wii Mac Spoof[Via MacSpoofs]

  • PS3 vs. Wii: Mac ad spoof

Maybe you've seen those obnoxious PC vs. Mac ads? Well, they've spawned some fairly funny knock-offs. Now G4 has taken the premise and applied it to the PS3 and the Wii. Suffice to say, the ad is a bit more sexually charged than the videos you're used to seeing here at Wii Fanboy, so we've not embedded it into the post and would rather have you exert the extra energy to click through and check it out. We're sorry, we really don't hate you. Actually, is that a new hair style? It looks great on you![Via Joystiq]

  • Yet more Mac spoof ads - now with Linux!

I was waiting for someone to add Linux into the mix, and TrueNuff TV did a pretty good job with a series of Mac Spoofs. Parodying (of course) the latest series of love-em-or-(mostly)-hate-em ads, TrueNuff has produced 6 spoofs that poke fun at the Mac, though Linux, admittedly, takes quite a beating as well (but c'mon - it's Linux!). The spoofs are featured at TrueNuff TV's site and also on YouTube. Enjoy.

  • VH1's Best Week Ever spoofs the new Mac ads

Hooray for music television stations that do anything but these days: VH1's 'Best Week Ever' has spoofed the new Mac ads, and we have to say: they're pretty darn funny. They might not be safe for work (mild language), but they did a good job of capturing the somewhat pretentious and put-off attitude of 'the Mac'. Enjoy.

Mad TV has produced one of the raunchier iPod spoofs we've seen to date (meaning: probably not safe for work) in the form of an advertisement of, how shall we say, pads for women who 'think different'. The 'iPad' ad wins bonus points for coming complete with a spoof of the iPod silhouette ads and a mock voice-over of Bono.

  • SA's Photoshop Phriday: Grandma doesn't get video games

Most Grandmas don't get video games. One of mine watched, with vulgar curiosity, as I scaled skyscrapers and snatched civilians in the craptacular Rampage. The other wrapped her arthritic claws around a Gameboy and spent hours -- hours -- playing Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle. But the reality is that most Grandmas fall into the former camp, and so it is that Something Awful's latest Photoshop Phriday honors these geriatric non-gamers. My favorite: Make Sure It's Two Person: So Your Sister Can Play Too. That one's a classic.See also:SA's Photoshop Phriday: honest game titlesGallery of Photoshopped Mega Man powers

  • Apocalyptic Auto Assault competition

Are you prepared for an apocalypse? That's the question asked by this promotional site for upcoming car-combat MMO Auto Assault, and like other promotions before it, there's a competition involved. By taking photos or video of your apocalypse prevention methods, you could win copies of the game and 6-month subscriptions.Hopefully there will be a gallery of submissions available later, to demonstrate whether this attempt at viral marketing works or not. It's an interesting premise, but the disaster-prevention-spoof theme might prove too realistic for some people.[Via Broken Toys]

  • Found Footage: Broke Mac Mountain

We get all sorts of interesting email here at the TUAW compound. Stephen sent us this spoof of 'Broke Back Mountain' entitled 'Broke Mac Mountain,' which is very amusing. I especially enjoyed the line, 'Actually, it's pretty common.' I suppose this would be rated PG-13, so do with that info what you will.
