Gunpoint snuck in a sale this week and is half off now through Thursday at 7PM ET, making each version just $5, $10 or $15 via Steam or directly from Suspicious Developments. During the sale, $5 is for the base game with the level editor, $10 gets the Special Edition with the soundtrack and in-game developer commentary, and $15 is for the Exclusive Edition, which adds a 40-minute making-of video, playable prototype levels, four exclusive songs and early access to future Suspicious Developments games. Players who previously bought a lower-tier version of the game and wish to upgrade now have the option to pay the difference and get that next edition. The content is now, essentially, DLC. Gunpoint also added Steam Trading Cards. "I still have basically no idea how these really work, but I was surprised by how much I ended up wanting all the little reward things our artist John Roberts created," Designer Tom Francis tells Joystiq. "The ability to emote Conway face-palming somewhere on my Steam profile just seems really important somehow." Mac and Linux versions of Gunpoint and incoming, Francis says. Get the declassified details of Gunpoint's sale in Francis' video, or head straight to Suspicious Developments.

Zeno Clash 2 has issued a free update today adding a pair of fresh challenge modes: Framerate and Coliseum. Framerate mode pits players against waves of wireframe enemies who spawn based on your computer's performance and must be vanquished to maintain a consistent frame rate. Coliseum drops players into a battle against against 50 waves of increasingly difficult enemies, with no limits on the number of allies players can employ. In addition to the new modes, you'll notice Zeno Clash 2 also supports Steam Trading Cards now. In what was most certainly an unplanned coincidence, all versions of Zeno Clash are on sale through Steam until August 1. You can grab the standard edition for $8 or the original game for $2.

Every Steam user now has access to Steam Trading Cards, Valve's virtual collectibles that can be traded with other Steam users and spent for various in-game goods. Collecting cards allows Steam users to craft badges for their Steam profiles and "earn rewards like emoticons, profile backgrounds, and coupons." Steam Trading Cards entered beta back in May, supporting a handful of Valve games and Don't Starve. Right now, more than 30 games support Steam Trading Cards, including Team Fortress 2, FTL, GRID 2, Monaco, Trine 2, Super Meat Boy and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Valve promises more games will support Steam Trading Cards with each passing week.

Steam Trading Cards are the next 10-gallon hats from Valve. If you understand that line, then the rest of this story will make sense to you. If not, then you have every right to scratch your head and ask "Why?" to everything that follows. In beta starting today, Steam Trading Cards allow users to earn Steam rewards for playing games. The current line-up of participating games is Don't Starve, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Portal 2 and Half-Life 2. Users will earn game-specific trading cards that can be collected to earn "game badges, profile backgrounds, emoticons, coupons, and more." Here's the simplest way we understand it: Create trading Card sets > craft badges > get prizes listed above. There's more details on the Steam Trading Card site.
