Ubisoft filed a $1 million lawsuit yesterday against BEP Music LLC, a company which owns the Black Eyed Peas trademark, for neglecting to recognize the publisher's planned iOS version of The Black Eyed Peas Experience. Following the Wii and Xbox 360 versions released last year, Ubisoft claims BEP breached the companies' contract regarding an iOS version. According to Ubisoft, the contract states the band agreed to approve or disapprove the iOS version within 10 business days of a request. Ubisoft says BEP Music failed to acknowledge requests for approval, despite repeated attempts.Ubisoft claims the company spent $233,000 developing the iOS game, and that figure combined with loss of profits amounts to a total of $1 million in damages. While Ubisoft didn't name the company or the game in question in its complaint, as Player Attack notes BEP Music only owns the one trademark. I Gotta Feeling the French publisher isn't about to Shut Up about this anytime soon.

  • Amazon discounts select PS3 peripherals, active games

We don't mean these games will make you start taking hikes or playing bocce ball in the park or something. These are games Amazon has classified as active -- they require more input from the player than simply mashing a button or d-pad. Sometimes you have to, like, stand up to play these games. Amazon's discounting Just Dance 3, the LittleBigPlanet 2 Move bundle, Zumba Fitness ... and Rocksmith? Rocking out counts as activity, we guess. There are also discounts on Kinect and the Wii Cyberbike. Oh, and PS3 accessories have been incongruously mixed into the list. You can pick up some 3D glasses, in case Santa dropped one of those 3D displays down your chimney this year.

Sure, said assassins, rabbids, and future soldiers will arrive in video game form, but there's at least an air of danger in Ubisoft's Gamescom lineup. The French publisher revealed its German cavalry this week, saying that all titles will be available either in hands-on versions or hands-off presentations. From Dust (released on consoles thus far), Far Cry 3, Might & Magic Heroes VI, and Rayman Origins will be on site. Ubi will also hold a roundtable discussion titled, "Is Online Gaming Changing How We Create?" and featuring "creative leaders from Ubisoft's online teams. It'll be open to press, Ubisoft partners and the show's trade visitors. It's not necessarily bad news for you, Joe Public. While we're busy watching the roundtable, you could be jamming on some Anno 2070!

The game of the year is nearly here, and it's pumpin' to get you jumpin' and rockin' to get you floppin' all over your living room floor, Fergie-style. The Black Eyed Peas Experience has been announced for Xbox 360 (using Kinect, naturally) and Wii with a new promo video, and we think it's safe to say it blows those dinky Modern Warfare 3 trailers out of the water. The Black Eyed Peas are the second Experience installment, following Michael Jackson, because they're totally on the same level of pop iconhood. Ubisoft is set to release The Black Eyed Peas Experience "soon," but you can check out the trailer right now, after the jump. [Update 6/28: Ubisoft finally shared a press release and the first screen from the game, seen above.]
