Live-action web series Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist exhausted the entirety of its first routine on May 23, but Street Fighter fans know how these things go: Round two, fight! Polygon reports that Assassin's Fist's production team will be handling Street Fighter: World Warrior, a followup series announced at San Diego Comic-Con that will introduce series stars Guile, Chun-Li and Sagat, as well as M. Bison's Shadaloo organization. Polygon adds that World Warrior is scheduled to arrive in late 2015 or early 2016, but in the mean time, Assassin's Fist will reach the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand territories in DVD, Blu-ray and on-demand formats on October 28. Physical copies will include behind-the-scenes bonuses, such as director's commentary, a blooper reel and deleted scenes, one of which will reportedly feature the bright pink karate gi-donning joke competitor Dan Hibiki. Are you ready to ride through Azeroth and Draenor in style? Because that's the goal of the new web series fusing American Chopper and World of Warcraft. The first episode is out now, and you can guess the heart of it just from the premise. Two bikes will be designed -- one for the Horde, one for the Alliance -- and fans will vote on which bike winds up in the game as a mount. The first episode, of course, is very much the proof of concept; it features a very early glance at the starting point for both bikes as well as a discussion of Horde and Alliance aesthetics. You can watch the whole episode just past the cut. It's going to be running at least through the end of May, so you'll get a front-row seat to see both choppers brought from concept into execution.

  • Latest Halo 4 'Forward Unto Dawn' episode waxes philosophical about cryo-sleep

If we've taken anything away from the latest Halo 4 "Forward Unto Dawn" short above, its that being an enlistee at Corbulo Academy means two things. First, students are apparently locked into their rooms at lights out like some kind of military prison barracks, and secondly, cryo-sleep is both commonplace and, apparently, terrifying. Most sleepers report having strange dreams during cryo, but not the blonde in today's short. "For me, it's like dying," she says, "and then waking up again. Sweet dreams." At that moment, Master Chief and a human version of Cortana (given life and physical form by 282 Reality Circuit) burst through the ceiling and tell our young heroes that they're needed, and time is short.... Okay maybe we made up that last part, but wouldn't that have been awesome?

Because it was such a good idea the first couple of times, the powers that be (in this case, Capcom itself) have decided that the world is ready for a third official attempt at a live-action anything set in the Street Fighter universe.Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist is a forthcoming live-action series (presumably web series) from Capcom and Assassin's Fist Limited, a production company composed of the core team responsible for the live-action Street Fighter: Legacy fan film. The show will follow Ken and Ryu's formative years as they study under the tutelage of Gouken, master of a modified version of Ansatsuken martial arts. At some point we expect Akuma to show up and shout "Messatsu!"The script will be penned by Christian Howard (Ken in Street Fighter: Legacy) and director Joey Ansah. Global release is expected sometime in 2013.

This week's episode, "Social Traumas," is an event in and of itself, with cameos from a huge number of fan-favorite geek actors and personalities, from a pair of Dolls to a demigod. Check out the episode above, and see how many nerd points you get for recognizing the cameos (which we've conveniently listed for you after the break).

  • Star Trek Online being used as a film set for web series

It's strange to think about the fact that Star Trek Online is one of the two current flagships of the Trek franchise right now (along with the reboot film series), but for Trekkers looking to get their fix of continuing voyages and away missions, there are few other places to turn. So it's not surprising that low-budget filmmakers are turning to STO for inspiration. Cerberus Films has just released the first part of its new series, Star Trek: Reunion, which was recorded entirely within Star Trek Online. The series is being made by Oliver Smith, who was nominated for a BAFTA Award, and focuses on a group of five Starfleet Academy graduates who become captains and then reunite to discover the truth behind the death of their friend. Oliver Smith admits to being a hardcore STO player, and the introduction of the Foundry toolset allowed him and his team to utilize the game for his machinima series. You can watch the first episode of Star Trek: Reunion after the jump!

With under two weeks left until the official launch of the new Mortal Kombat, the game's companion live-action web series has been given a premiere date: April 12. According to Hadoken.net, the first episode will be available via Machinima at 4PM PST, following a live stream event. Select actors from the series and show director Kevin Tancharoen will play Mortal Kombat during the stream, and then introduce the episode. We're waiting to hear back from Warner Bros. about the scheduling of the next eight episodes, but we imagine you'll see more around the game's April 19 launch day. For now, we've got the image of two ladies from the film fighting just above. It's the least we could do.

Friend of WoW Insider and longtime enhancement shaman guru Rich Maloy runs the raiding guild <Big Crits>, and he documents their comings and goings in video format as a web series. Coming strong off of its sophomore season, Big Crits shows no signs of stopping -- season 3 has just started, offering longer episodes than last season. Big Crits is unscripted, getting its drama from the natural excitement that facing and downing raid content as a guild provides, so if you're looking for a series based around real raiders (as opposed to the other kind), check out its third season.

WoW.com enhancement shaman columnist Rich Maloy (also known as Stoneybaby of Bighitbox) has been hard at work for months producing Big Crits, an unscripted web series that chronicles a new guild as they work through end-game raiding content. In Rich's own words: "I'm producing a new web series that will be the Real World (of Warcraft). The guild and the show are called Big Crits. It's a reality series about the interaction of people in an end-game raiding guild. The tagline is: Real people conquering a virtual world. The vision is simple: show how people from all walks of life work together to accomplish great things online." And now, at last, Big Crits has just released its premiere episode, with a second following closely behind later this week. Those who wish to follow the exploits of the Big Crits crew can check out the first episode above or on bigcrits.com, where new episodes should appear once a week.

  • Felicia Day says The Guild comic is coming in Spring 2010

Felicia Day told us back at BlizzCon that she was going to go undercover for a little while as The Guild's latest season wrapped up, but undercover for this woman seems to mean that she's only in two TV shows and prepping for a comic book release. She showed up in last night's Lie to Me episode, singing, and in this interview over at Newsarama from the Video Game Awards with Sandeep Parikh (who himself just showed up in Tiki Bar TV -- slightly NSFW, language) she says she's still working on the unfortunately canceled Dollhouse as well. So that's where Eliza Dushku got her addiction from. She also says that the Dark Horse published Guild comic book is due out in spring of next year -- Jim Rugg is working on the art right now -- and fans of The Guild may even get a little Christmas present from the show and Microsoft. We'll keep an eye out for that for sure. So even though we're in between seasons (and we assume that season 4 is upcoming next year, even though we haven't heard an official announcement on that yet), there's lots of Guild goodness to go around.

The Guild is back after last week's Halloween interlude, and left at her "wit's end" while leading the guild, Codex decides (with a little prodding) to take the fight to the Axis of Anarchy. And they do so with wacky results as usual -- Zaboo shows that his trysts with the stupid tall hot girl might have given him a whole new side. The video's available in all of the usual places (including after the break on this post), so tune in and give it a watch. There are only three episodes left in the season after this one, which means in three weeks (barring any more holiday-related extras), we'll be seeing a conclusion to this "rival guild" storyline. Will the Knights of Good conquer? Will Vork find his place in the world again? Will Clara find her own domestic bliss? Whatever happens, it's sure to be entertaining as always. Like The Guild? We do, too! We chatted with all of the folks at BlizzCon, including Felicia Day, Sandeep Parikh, and Jeff Lewis and Michele Boyd. We also saw their panel, and the guys were nice enough to stop by our meetup as well. Stay tuned here every Tuesday for a brand new episode of season 3!

  • Felicia Day on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Our favorite DIY web series star Felicia Day showed up on network television last night, and you can watch the result after the break below. She appeared on Jimmy Fallon's late night show to promote the release of The Guild's new retail DVD, in stores right now. I watched it in HDTV on my regular television, and it was a pretty surreal experience: this is the Internet gaming culture moving mainstream as we watch it. Sure, it's just Fallon (and he's made a commitment to gaming and its culture already), but to have people talking this frankly and honestly about the gaming experience on network television is a nice step forward. The two chat about their first meeting, where Felicia helped Fallon roll up a draenei, as well as Dr. Horrible and how all of The Guild DVDs are made. And at the end of the interview, Fallon even hooks her up with some tickets to a NY show. Looks like it was a lot of fun, and it's great to see someone who's worked so hard on something they love get a nice bit of recognition for it.Update: Sorry, forgot that Hulu only works in the US. Here's another video that should work outside the States.

  • Web content on Xbox Live not a Microsoft priority

    by
    Richard Mitchell

    09.21.2009

Speaking to Business Week, Microsoft's general manager of global content acquisition and strategy, Ross Honey, painted a somewhat bleak picture for web content on Xbox Live. While The Guild has managed to succeed on Microsoft's platform, it has done so via a sponsorship deal with Sprint. Apparently, finding a different way to monetize a web series -- like inserting ads into programming -- is generally more trouble than it's worth. Furthermore, Honey tells Business Week that it's important that Microsoft finds content that will "move the needle" -- in other words, content that will appeal to the Xbox audience. Honey pointed out that "gamers love watching things about gaming," noting that the World of Warcraft and Guitar Hero inspired South Park episodes are the most popular shows on Xbox Live. Failing that, you could always make your web series about Halo.

  • The Guild episode 2 of season 3

    09.08.2009

Episode 2 of The Guild's season 3 is out now on MSN Video and in HD on Xbox Live (thanks, tipsters!), and it's the first new Guild footage we've seen since BlizzCon a few weeks ago (episode 1 came out last week, but there'd been a sneak peek of that before the season started). And Vork wastes no time at all mixing it up with Wil Wheaton playing the new rival guildleader -- he throws down as only Vork can, history lesson style.Unfortunately, the Axis of Anarchy turns out to be more than a match for the Knights of Good, and that leads to a shocker that The Guild will probably be dealing with for a long time to come. Or at least until next week, when the new episode (and hopefully the game's new expansion) comes out. You can see the entire episode embedded right here after the break -- enjoy!
