Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game in which we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you get into a giant comment flamewar about how high ceilings and luxury condos break established canon lore for Tatooine. Man, Star Wars fans really are crazy.

It's Independence Day in the U.S., the day when gamers scarf down BBQ and try to flee family events so they can log back into MMOs. What? You know you do it. Here's a few of the events and sales and promotions MMO players can look forward to this weekend. If you know of one we missed, shout it out in the comments! Marvel Heroes is boasting a "Red, White, and Loot" boost to rotating game modes, including increased loot drops. Neverwinter has unleashed the Celebration of Lliira event, complete with fireworks and rewards. Star Wars: The Old Republic is granting double experience all weekend. The Guardians of Gaia event returns to The Secret World in honor of its anniversary. EverQuest II features a summer rebate sale on holiday items and more; classic EQ turned on double XP last night. Age of Wushu has 10 different events going on this weekend. TEN. TERA's gone live with a double-drop weekend. World of Tanks celebrates Canada Day and Independence Day with discounts on cash-shop stuff and experience bonuses. Fallen Earth is running sales and a new summer combat patch. Champions Online has introduced Stars Tights and new Liberty Grav Bike. Vrooom. The Brits behind RuneScape are hosting an in-game BBQ and offering Uncle Sam hats. Enjoy a holiday bonus weekend in Dark Age of Camelot. Black Gold Online has dedicated an in-game monument and promises streams and contests. War Thunder offers discounts and RP boosts for USA victories. DUST 514 is running an accelerated SP week. Dungeons and Dragons Online has a double bonus point promotion in the official store. SMITE still has the Ramerica eagle skin we can't stop giggling over. Wheeee. Pirate101 has a Red, White, & Blue sale going on mounts, pets, and teleporters.

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game in which we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you sign our petition to make Ra'merica the official mascot of SMITE. He might just be the only character in the whole game unlikely to offend anyone. Except eagles, I guess.

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game in which we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you jump and jump and jump a lot in MMOs because you're not too old to play video games, no sir!

    06.14.2014

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you remind Ubisoft that almost every MMORPG since forever has somehow managed to do the impossible and include playable female characters and it did not in fact break the space-time continuum or wreck the budget.

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you tell us how you're not a jerk even though you act like one on the internet. Which is perfectly OK, of course, since the internet isn't a real place and what goes on there is but a figment of our collective imagination.

    05.31.2014

Welcome back to Massively's What are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you tell us that we're writing about WildStar too much. You might also want to remind us that we hate Elder Scrolls Online, love and hate Star Wars: The Old Republic, and carry a rather hopeless and pathetic torch for Star Wars: Galaxies. One of those statements might even be true!

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you brilliantly propose a MOBA in which players slip into the shoes of classical composers and kick the crap out of each other (seriously, we'd play that).

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you tell Carbine that WildStar wasn't, in fact, the first MMO ever with mount customizations. The word "first" is a dangerous word in a genre full of geeks with long memories!

    04.26.2014

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you try to convince us that there's no place for nuance or constructive criticism in the MMO genre because this is war, so pick a side. If you criticize one aspect of a game, that means you hate the whole game forever and ever, right? Right?!

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you try to convince us that what the genre needs next is a zombie MMOTCG or possibly a zombie MOBA. With motorcycles. And then we make this froggy face at you.

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you try to convince us that H1Z1 doesn't sound like a four-syllable sneeze. Seriously, say it aloud. It could give Final Fantasy XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan and EverQuest: The Legacy of Ykesha a run for their money.

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you tell us how bobbleheads make people with unusually fat heads really sad. Or just fly around in circles in Rata Sum giggling and photobombing screenshots. Whichever works.

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you tell us how you're as relieved as we are that EverQuest Next Landmark finally ditched the huge and unwieldy brand name and shortened itself to just Landmark. Also is that Pikachu? And you thought you had only to worry about phallic symbols.

Welcome back to Massively's What Are You Playing, the game where we tell you what we're playing this weekend and you tell us how the ArcheAge IP-blocking fiasco is part of a grand geopolitical conspiracy related to Russian politics in Eurasia and not just, you know, the relatively petty squabbles of international video games conglomerates. Also, give us ArcheAge.
