Apple's Intel-based Mac development kits [pics]
We won't go into the nitty gritty tech specs on this kit (peep the Read link if you're hungry for it), but we wanted to post up these pics of the Apple Intel-based developer kit. Of note is that, as was hinted at the WWDC keynote, Windows XP installed easily on the dev kit, with a few video tweaks. As also expected, the reverse proved unworkable — Mac OS X for Intel wouldn't run on a beige box. The theory is that Apple will be using an EDID chip on the motherboard of Intel-based systems that'll work much like a hardware dongle to prevent booting from non-Apple-blessed hardware; it's not clear whether these dev kits include the EDID chip yet or not.
